On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 87: Don’t Tell Me You Brought a Woman Home?
"So just give up already!" Fiona Forrest threw the words over her shoulder and walked off, leaving me standing there, stunned.
I don’t know how long passed before someone gently tapped my shoulder, snapping me out of it.
"What’s on your mind? You were totally zoned out." Chloe Miller asked, looking at me with a confused expression.
I quickly repeated what Fiona Forrest had just said.
"His one true love? Don’t tell me she meant you."
"Don’t be ridiculous. Fiona Forrest said he’s loved this person for over a decade... How could that possibly be me?"
"True..." Chloe Miller had just been running her mouth. After hearing me out, she nodded along, a thoughtful look on her face. "Then who could it be?"
I pursed my lips, suddenly remembering a rumor from college. "Do you think it could be Aria Leighton, the senior from the performance arts department?"
After all, she was the only girl ever rumored to be involved with Sebastian Forrest.
And back when Aria was just starting out in the entertainment industry, all the online gossip posts about their relationship were scrubbed clean overnight.
At the time, many people speculated that Sebastian did it to protect Aria. For an artist just starting her career, those rumors could have become daggers in her back later on!
Because of that, a lot of people were shouting that ’they were the real deal,’ and the hype for them as a couple was through the roof. But then, for some reason, the talk just died down.
’The reason was obvious, really.’
Sebastian Forrest was protecting Aria.
"Probably?" Chloe Miller pursed her lips, clearly uninterested. "Anyway, let’s not talk about this. I need to go rest. I’m exhausted from handing out all those business cards."
...
The bidding conference went exceptionally smoothly.
When it was over, Sebastian Forrest drove us home.
Chloe Miller’s place wasn’t close, so by the time we dropped her off and he was driving back, it was already past nine.
I was leaning back in the rear seat, drowsy, and before I knew it, I had drifted off to sleep.
And I slept straight through until broad daylight.
I stretched comfortably on the large bed, the fresh scent of laundry detergent filling my nose. But when I opened my eyes, the elegant, grand chandelier on the ceiling took me by surprise.
’?’
’When did I change the light fixture?’
My mind was blank for a full three seconds before something suddenly clicked, and I shot up in bed.
Looking around, I realized I was in a completely unfamiliar bedroom. The entire room was decorated in cool shades of gray and white, giving it an austere, minimalist feel.
’Where am I?’
I shook my head and tried to recall last night—I remembered Sebastian Forrest driving me home...
’Then this is... Senior Forrest’s place?’
I quickly threw back the covers, only to find I was still wearing that expensive gown. I had wastefully slept in it all night, and now it was a wrinkled mess.
Seeing a pair of very out-of-place pink slippers on the floor, I didn’t think twice before slipping them on and hurrying to open the door.
"You’re up? Just in time for breakfast."
As soon as I opened the bedroom door, I saw Sebastian Forrest setting steaming hot dishes on the dining table. His light gray loungewear softened his usual air of noble languor, lending him a warmer, more refined elegance.
"I... I haven’t washed up yet..."
Just as I was about to awkwardly sneak away, I heard Sebastian Forrest say with a smile, "There are new toiletries on the bathroom counter in the bedroom for you. Also, I had Henry Paxton get you a few changes of clothes you can put on..."
"Ah... oh..." I quickly retracted the foot that was about to make a run for it. "Then... then I’ll go wash up first."
With that, I ducked back into the room. Pressing my back against the door, I tapped my head in frustration.
’I can’t believe myself!’
’How could I have slept so soundly last night?’
’Don’t tell me Senior Forrest carried me all the way up from the garage?’
’And I didn’t even wake up?’
’He won’t think I was faking it, will he?’
’Even to me, this seems exactly like a little trick a manipulative woman would pull...’
With a mortified expression, I changed out of the gown. When I went back into the bathroom, I saw brand-new toiletries, still in their packaging, sitting on the counter.
A pink cup and a pink electric toothbrush...
I quickly turned on the faucet to wash my face, then unwrapped the new items. As I got ready, I racked my brain for how I was going to explain myself to Sebastian Forrest.
However, before I could mentally prepare myself, the doorbell suddenly rang.
At first, I thought it was takeout Sebastian had ordered, or his assistant, Henry Paxton.
"Whoa, how did you know I hadn’t eaten? What’s with the huge feast so early in the morning?"
The voice was all too familiar—it was Dr. Miller.
SMACK. It was the dull sound of chopsticks hitting a hand. "Don’t touch. It’s not for you."
"You can’t eat all this by yourself, can you?" Jude Miller complained, clearly annoyed.
Just as I was wondering how I could leave the room without causing a misunderstanding, there was a knock on the door. "Are you done washing up? The food’s going to get cold if you don’t come out soon."
"Holy crap, what’s going on?"
Immediately, Jude Miller’s shocked voice came from outside. "Don’t tell me you brought a woman home?"
"Shut your mouth."
"Oh my god! You really did?" Jude Miller’s voice was already brimming with excitement. "Holy shit, this is a first! I thought you were going to keep pining for that little..."
"Shut up!"
While the two of them were bickering, I took a deep breath and pulled open the bedroom door.
I knew if I didn’t come out now, I’d really become the woman Sebastian Forrest was "hiding in his golden chamber," and the misunderstanding would only get worse...
The moment the door opened, Jude Miller’s eyes lit up as he looked over.
"Dr. Miller..."
When Jude Miller saw that it was me coming out of the bedroom, his expression went blank for several seconds. It took him a good long while to turn his head toward Sebastian Forrest. "You... you two..."
Afraid Jude would get the wrong idea, I quickly explained, "I fell asleep in the car last night... I must have been sleeping too soundly. Senior Forrest couldn’t wake me, so he brought me here..."
Jude Miller had a teasing look on his face. "Carried you back, you mean?"
"..."
"Will you shut up!" Sebastian Forrest kicked at Jude Miller before turning to me. "Come eat."
Once seated at the table, I was so embarrassed I just clutched my bowl of millet porridge, taking tiny sips without daring to look up.
"Try this. It’s been stewing all morning, so it should be flavorful." As Sebastian Forrest spoke, he placed some food into my bowl. His movements were natural and practiced, as if he weren’t the least bit fazed by what happened last night.
I quickly thanked him and popped the lamb chop he’d given me into my mouth, still too mortified to look up.
But even so, I could still feel Jude Miller’s burning gaze on me, like he’d just discovered a new continent.
I had no idea why the thought of me sleeping over at Sebastian Forrest’s place made him so giddy; he looked exactly like a gossip who’d stumbled upon a juicy story.
Just as I was squirming in my seat, a phone call came to my rescue.
It was a call from an unknown number...
