Overlord Tamer: All My Pet Monsters Have God Potential-Chapter 173: The Demons
Chapter 173: The Demons
In front of his castle in the Monster paradise, on the open ground with a fountain, John and others stood nearby.
A device left John’s hand and landed in front of him, blinking with light twice, before a big portal opened up.
"Let’s go." John entered, his appearance changing to Mr. Sirius.
...
In the Meity family’s estate, in the portal ground, a big portal opened, bigger than the others.
Seeing that, a nearby guard quickly informed the head of the family, Sovitra Meity.
"Mr. Sirius has arrived!"
Sovitra was at the border of the calamity region, training the demons of her clans, when she got the message.
Her eyes lit up.
"Alright, go to the Forest of Lexus and come back with the heads of ten monsters, each of you. Dismiss."
Savitra hurried back to the estate with her full power and shortly arrived there.
John and others were already led to the estate’s hall by a few demons.
Just as John and others sat down on the couches, Sovitra arrived.
"Welcome, Mr. Sirius. You can’t measure my happiness right now," Sovitra said as she delightfully chuckled.
"Well, here I am." Mr. Sirius smiled.
Sovitra looked at three ladies of varying ages and a young man nearby and blinked. "I also heard you have an apprentice. Where is he?"
She knew that Max wasn’t his apprentice since she had seen John’s face.
"I’ve already sent him for training. Since he is going to join the organization, he must go through special training."
A perfect reason.
"I see." Sovitra nodded and sat down across Mr. Sirius. "Well, allow me to show you my Meity family’s hospitality first."
Shortly, drinks arrived as the demons working in the estate brought them and served everyone.
Drinking it caused John and others to feel instantly energized and filled with vigor.
A buff of healing recovery +100% applied to all of them.
"Nice tea," Mr. Sirius said with a nod.
"Well, not as nice as the drinks you have sold to others," Sovitra said with a cheeky smile. "We recently heard about those drinks and I must say, I am very shocked."
"That you should be." Mr. Sirius faintly smiled.
Sovitra chuckled. "Can’t deny. Although I would like to buy those drinks, I have no desire to push it upon you."
"I shall do business with you since I am here."
Sovitra’s eyes lit up.
"But it shall be an auction, and I want all demon families to participate."
John wasn’t going to let this chance of draining demons of their fortune.
"Very well. Since you said that, then it shall be done," Sovitra said with a smile. "I will gather heads of all families and talk about this, and set up a venue."
"Venue can be my island. I can summon it anytime," Mr. Sirius said with a smile.
"Alright." Sovitra nodded. "Well then, would you like to eat first or do anything in particular you have in mind?"
"We would like to eat first."
...
And so, an hour later, John and others had a luxurious feast prepared with high-quality ingredients and resources with heavenly taste.
’The food the demons cook is crazy good.’ John was honestly surprised.
He had to say, the demons had one-up on the food department, but that could be because they had a long heritage of food experiments.
Not to mention that they had the whole Undernight continent for themselves, and it was vast with many wilderness spots.
However, the main reason was that their forces in the higher-ranked world were bigger and had been established for a thousand years more than the forces of Nexus City and Brelial City.
Sovitra herself said the food also had some ingredients and spices that were only found in a higher-ranked world.
Afterward, John wanted to see the frontline, A.K.A. the border of the Calamity Region.
That way, he would be able to observe the demons and how they used the Monsters.
Safe to say, he was shocked.
But he couldn’t act like that because he was supposed to be Mr. Sirius, who traversed worlds and already knew about Demons.
’What the fucking hell...’
First, the taming contract of demons was the same, as well as everything else like Soul rank, amount of Soul technique and geno ability per rank, and so on.
However, they had two additional powers than humans.
First, Monster Sacrifice.
They could completely sacrifice their Pet Monster to gain a temporary overlapping boost in their stats.
For instance, suppose a peak King-rank demon tamer used soul synergy on his peak King-rank monster, achieving total stats akin to this:
— Strength: 500 + 500
— Speed: 500 + 500
— Defense: 500 + 500
— Soul Lake: 2500 + 2500
And after using Monster Sacrifice, they could gain a further boost equal to 50% of the sacrificed Pet Monsters’ stats.
— Strength: 500 + 500 + 250
— Speed: 500 + 500 + 250
— Defense: 500 + 500 + 250
— Soul Lake: 2500 + 2500 + 1250
But the stats were not all that the demons gained when they sacrificed the monsters.
They also temporarily gained the physical features of monsters as additions, as well as items to be used like weapons or armor.
The second additional power the demons had was the Demonic Beast Pocket.
Bronze-rank demons could store 10 Monsters, Silver-rank demons could store 20 monsters, Gold-rank demons could store 30 monsters, and so on, with an increase of 10 per rank.
Moreover, the Monsters captured inside their Demonic Beast Pocket needed to be dominated by them, meaning that they could just beat the monsters to half-death and put them in the pocket.
They could use resources to heal those monsters, and they could instantly form a contract with those monsters in the Demonic Beast Pocket.
Which meant sacrificing monsters during serious lawless fights was nothing rare, and they usually did that.
However, there was one additional thing that demons had, but not all demons.
The demons had something called Demonic Bloodlines, and these bloodlines were of varying ranks.
Each bloodline had abilities, mostly one or two, as it depended on the individuals.
These abilities were immensely powerful, but they required the blood essence of Monsters. Usually, to activate the ability once, the demon required a minimum of ten and a maximum unknown number of monsters’ blood processed into blood essence.
And they had devices to finish that process.
John hunted Monsters, too, and he knew the monsters themselves lived in a survival-of-the-fittest world.
However, the demons considered their Pet Monsters as nothing more than tools, and that was something that didn’t sit well with him.
’No wonder the calamity occurs to wipe out the demons,’ Azelis’s magic whispered to John. ’Since there’s no lack of monsters, they literally use them like use and throw products.’
’Yeah..’ John watched the demons training as they fought in duels.
The way the demons fight was more aggressive because they sacrificed the Monsters to gain boosts and physical features of the monsters to fight.
Even during training, they were sacrificing monsters as the demons had vast breeding farms of monsters for a specific type of boost and physical feature enhancement.
’Much like how chickens are for humans on Earth, the monsters are the same for demons here.’
Hypocrite as he may be as he had eaten chickens in his past life, he also didn’t consider all lives as equal.
But the idea of Tamers treating their Pet Monsters as tools just didn’t sit well with him.
He had no qualms about killing innocent monsters when hunting, so he also had no qualms about killing innocent lives of other races. His kindness was subjective, and he had no problem with that.
So for that reason, he had decided to screw the demons the over in the upcoming calamity while benefitting himself as much as possible.
His goal was the same—To create a Monster Paradise not just for himself, but for everyone. A world where Tamers treat their Pet Monsters as family.
