Chapter 148: Chapter 148 - Muchen

Yunfeng ran toward the shelves, his eyes locked onto Hana. Even in the dim warehouse, he recognized that oversized T-shirt. That was his. She stole it. Of course, he’d notice her anywhere.

"HANA!!" he yelled, his voice echoing through the vast, dark space.

Hana squinted in confusion. "What the—YUNFENG?!" Her eyes widened. "YOU! Run your ass away, not toward me, dumbass!" She waved frantically.

From the opposite shelf, Muchen glanced down at the commotion. His eyes sharpened the moment he saw the two figures rushing in—Yunfeng and Jai.

And behind them...

A towering shadow moved. Limbs too long. Skin stretched tight over bulging, unnatural muscles. Its mouth was grotesquely wide, lips peeled back to expose jagged rows of teeth. And it was fast.

"Fuck..." Muchen exhaled.

Yunfeng, oblivious to the massive creature barreling after him, reached the shelf and swung at the nearest zombie. His hand gripped its neck, and with one fierce motion, he threw it aside like trash. Another lunged. He elbowed it in the face, sending it flying backward.

Hana’s panic turned into sheer disbelief. "WHAT THE HELL?!"

But the zombies were closing in. The moment Yunfeng took out one, more turned to him. He barely noticed when a pair of hands grabbed him from behind.

The next second, his feet left the ground.

His breath hitched as the floor rushed away beneath him.

Jai, still running, skidded to a stop and looked up, eyes blown wide. "WHAT THE FUCK—?!"

"JAI, RUN!!" Yunfeng yelled, his voice carrying over the chaos.

Jai didn’t hesitate. He turned and sprinted just as the fast zombie screeched and lunged. Its claws missed him by inches, scraping the floor instead.

Meanwhile, Yunfeng twisted in the air, trying to see who had grabbed him—

Only to come face-to-face to a person who he least expected.

Muchen’s brows were furrowed deeply as he glared down at Yunfeng, holding him tightly in the air. "You’re fucking reckless, Yunfeng! Who asked you to run here?! You should have stayed home!"

Yunfeng stared up at him, unblinking, his mind momentarily dazed.

Meanwhile, on the ground, Jai screamed. "AHHHH! YOU GUYS DO YOUR ROMANCE LATER!!" He ducked just in time as a zombie swiped at him. "SOMEONE FLY ME AWAY TOO! OH MY GOD, WHAT IS THAT MASSIVE THING?!"

His frantic eyes landed on the towering, grotesque zombie that was now fully inside the warehouse. Its massive arms bulged as it took a slow, heavy step forward, its head tilting unnaturally. Its breath came out in thick, wheezing growls.

Yunfeng’s eyes snapped back to Jai. His voice was sharp. "Move down! No—fly down, Jai!"

Muchen didn’t listen. He kept pulling Yunfeng toward one of the shelves, intent on getting him away from the danger.

Yunfeng thrashed violently. "Damn it, Muchen! Let me down! Let me go!"

Muchen struggled to keep his grip. "What the fuck is wrong with you?! Stay still!" His arms tightened, forcing Yunfeng against him.

But Yunfeng wasn’t backing down. His mind was already set.

Below, Jai was still dodging the fast zombie. Hana and the others were scrambling onto the shelves, barely escaping the grasping hands of the undead.

"Damn it!" Yunfeng growled, stretching out his hand. That familiar heat rushed down his veins, pooling at his fingertips. In an instant, a blue flame exploded from his palm like a bullet, shooting straight at the zombie.

Muchen, still gripping onto him, suddenly felt that scorching heat seeping into his arms. It burned his skin. A sharp hiss escaped his lips. "Fuck!" His fingers instinctively released—

Yunfeng was dropped to the ground.

And Muchen? His balance was thrown off, and he plummeted down after him.

Yunfeng hit the ground first, rolling into a crouch. His flames flickered violently around his fists. His head snapped up—Jai was still in danger. "Jai!"

Without hesitation, he dashed forward, his flaming fists crashing against the zombies in his way. Every strike sent a burst of blue fire, searing flesh, forcing the undead back. The heat of his attacks flickered in his eyes, his focus razor-sharp.

Behind him, Muchen hit the ground with a thud.

For a split second, the world blurred. His stomach twisted, the sharp pain stabbing deeper. "Ngh..." A wave of nausea hit him hard. His hands clutched at his abdomen, fingers trembling.

’No... the baby...’

His vision swayed. His body felt too heavy. His limbs too weak.

Nearby, the zombies noticed. Their rotten heads jerked in his direction. Their hollow, hungry eyes locked onto him.

Yunfeng rushed straight to Jai, grabbing him without hesitation, pulling him close like his life depended on it.

Muchen’s hands clenched tight.

’You cold-hearted bastard... you’ve already moved on with someone else...’

His heart chilled.

Yunfeng didn’t spare him a single glance.

Not even once.Muchen forced his feet under him, staggering. He had no strength to fly. Instead, he stumbled toward the nearest shelf, hands gripping the cold metal, forcing himself to climb.

He didn’t look back.

Didn’t look at Yunfeng.

Meanwhile, Yunfeng’s fist slammed into the massive zombie’s chest. Fire exploded from the impact, sending a shockwave of heat through the air.

The bulky zombie reeled, stumbling back from the force.

But then—

The taller one lunged forward.

And this time, there was no time for muchen to move.

The tall zombie lunged, its decayed hands reaching for Muchen’s trembling form.

But before it could touch him—

WHOOSH!

A blue flame erupted, blinding Muchen’s vision. Heat surged through the air, a protective barrier between him and the creature.

When his vision cleared, a familiar figure stood before him—broad back straight, fists clenched, flames licking up his arms like living serpents.

Yunfeng.

Muchen’s breath caught. His lips parted. "Yunfeng..." he mumbled, barely a whisper.

"Quickly! Climb up!" Yunfeng’s voice was sharp, urgent, commanding.

Jai, still clinging to Yunfeng’s embrace, scrambled away. Without wasting a second, he reached for Muchen, gripping his arm tightly. "Come on!"

Muchen was still frozen, his gaze locked on Yunfeng’s back. The way he stood—fierce, unshaken, fire raging in his hands.

But there was no time to hesitate.

Gritting his teeth, Muchen forced his weak limbs to move, using the shelf as leverage. Jai pulled at him, his strength barely enough, but it was enough. Inch by inch, Muchen climbed, his muscles screaming in protest.

Below, Yunfeng stood his ground.

The tall zombie snarled and lunged again.

Yunfeng’s flames roared. He twisted his body, dodging, his fiery fist smashing into the monster’s ribcage. The heat exploded on impact, sending the creature staggering back.

"Hurry up!" Yunfeng barked, sparing a quick glance upward.

Jai was already at the top. Muchen was almost there—almost.

"Damn it!" Yunfeng turned his focus back. The massive zombie he had struck earlier was recovering. It wasn’t down for long.

The tall zombie let out a guttural snarl and lunged, its grotesquely long arms whipping toward Yunfeng like twin whips.

Yunfeng twisted to the side, feeling the rush of air as those clawed hands barely missed his shoulder.

His fist clenched tight, blue flames coiling around his knuckles. He drove it forward—hard. His punch slammed into the zombie’s gut, igniting upon impact. Flesh sizzled, the creature’s decayed insides bursting into embers.

But it didn’t fall.

"Persistent bastard!" Yunfeng growled.

The zombie reeled back, howling in rage. Its arms lashed out again, this time sweeping across the entire shelf.

SHRIEK—! Metal groaned.

The entire structure tilted.

"Shit—!" Jai yelled from above.

Muchen was still climbing when the zombie’s weight crashed into the shelf, sending it toppling forward.

"Muchen!!" Yunfeng’s eyes widened in horror as he saw Muchen lose grip, his body tilting backward— freeweɓnovel.cѳm

—And fell.

No, no, no!

Yunfeng lunged without a scond thought.

His legs burned as he pushed off the ground, his arm shooting out just in time—

His fingers snatched Muchen’s waist hugging him close. They both came rolling down on the ground with Yunfeng taking the major impact.

The impact jerked Yunfeng’s arm violently, but he gritted his teeth and held on.

Muchen laid on the ground, his eyes wide, breath hitched in his throat. "Yunfeng—"

"Shut up and hold on!"

The tall zombie roared, swinging its clawed arm again.

Yunfeng jumped up. Using all his new found strength, he swung Muchen up—throwing him toward the higher ledge where Jai was.

"Catch him!!" Yunfeng barked.

Jai, still trembling, reacted just in time. He reached out, his hands gripping Muchen’s arms and yanking him up.

The tall zombie let out a guttural growl, its elongated arms stretching unnaturally as it lunged toward Yunfeng. Its jagged teeth gnashed, black drool oozing from its mouth.

But Yunfeng stood his ground.

His chest rose and fell, his breath steady. His fingers curled into fists, blue flames licking up his arms, flickering dangerously.

"Come on, ugly," he muttered, eyes burning with determination.

The zombie charged.

Its claws sliced through the air, aiming straight for his head.

Yunfeng ducked—barely—feeling the wind of the strike brush his hair. He twisted his body, slamming his foot into the zombie’s knee. The sickening crack of bones shattering echoed through the warehouse, but the monster didn’t fall.

It staggered, screeching in rage.

"Tch. Tough bastard," Yunfeng gritted out.

The zombie whipped around—faster than expected.

Its long arm snapped forward like a whip—

SLASH—!

Blood splattered.

Yunfeng hissed, a fresh gash tearing across his shoulder.
