Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 764 - 763 Admission (1)_1
This kid... Adele couldn't help but chuckle, though she grumbled inwardly. He's already so protective of Camila at such a young age. Is he worried that I, his mother, might favor other girls? Afraid Camila won't have my affection in the future?
Adele saw and treasured Billy's special affection for Camila, hoping her son would grow up to marry Camila, making her his wife and Adele's daughter-in-law. Though, that would probably make her sister-in-law green with envy.
Well, let's not worry about the future for now. The matter at hand needs to be dealt with first.
She had no intention of following Noah Reyes back for dinner. She didn't want to spend time with him, and she certainly didn't want the "family of three" to gather.
Coming back to her senses, Adele suppressed the faint smile she had shown Florence. She took Billy's small hand and turned to leave.
Noah Reyes stood like a mountain right behind her. As she turned, she came face-to-face with him.
Adele reflexively yanked Billy into her arms. Her movement was so swift and fierce that Billy tilted his little face up from her embrace, his dark eyes darting about in confusion.
From his grandma, Billy knew that Noah Reyes was his Daddy. But why did Mommy dislike Daddy? Why hadn't she told him Noah Reyes was his Daddy? Grandma hadn't said, and he couldn't understand it either.
Judging by Daddy's reactions and behavior, he seems very caring and concerned about Mommy, just as Daddy really cares about me.
"Mommy?" Billy called out softly.
Noah Reyes reached out—
"Noah Reyes, what do you think you're doing?" Adele exclaimed. "If you dare try to take my son, I'll fight you to the end!" The moment she saw Noah Reyes reach out, she immediately clutched Billy and stepped back several paces, guarding against him as if he were a thief. She was inwardly furious with her family for letting Deon Myers bring her son here.
Also, Noah Reyes came to the company and "supervised" me in my office all afternoon. Was it really my sister-in-law who let him into the company? How could my sister-in-law help Noah Reyes bully me? True or not, I have to get to the bottom of this.
Noah Reyes just gazed at her intensely.
A ringtone suddenly sounded. It was Noah Reyes's phone.
He continued to gaze at Adele as he answered the call in front of her. Adele didn't know who was on the other end. She only noticed his expression turning serious after he took the call, his gaze growing darker and deeper, as if something had happened. In the end, he simply responded in a low voice, "I know."
After hanging up, he took several large strides toward her, grabbed Adele, and forcefully pulled her into the house. Seeing him pull Adele so forcefully, Billy became angry. Just like when he had first confronted a threat to Adele, he bounced over like a little kangaroo and began to attack Noah Reyes. A four-year-old child, no matter how fierce, could only flail wildly, having no real effect on him.
"Billy!" Adele quickly stopped Billy's haphazard attacks on Noah Reyes.
The others looked on in astonishment; the young master was so fiercely protective of his mother.
"Mommy, let's go!" Billy was unhappy with Noah Reyes's forcefulness towards his mother. Apparently, Mommy hadn't wanted to come for dinner willingly; Daddy had brought her here by force. Billy was very sharp; he realized this from the way his mommy had grabbed his hand and turned to leave.
"Adele, Billy, stay. Let's have a meal together as a family of three, okay?" Noah Reyes said in a low voice, as if suppressing something. His face was solemn, the stern expression not fading.
Pulled by her son, Adele still hadn't moved. She sensed that Noah Reyes might have encountered some trouble, as his expression had changed so rapidly.
"Mommy?" Billy, who understood perfectly well what "a family of three" meant, also stopped pulling Adele away. He lifted his handsome little face, his dark eyes filled with questions as he looked up at Adele.
I really want to call out "Daddy!"
Ever since Grandma told him that Noah Reyes was his father, he had yearned to call him Daddy. But to avoid making Mommy sad, he endured, not calling him Daddy, not even calling him Uncle anymore.
The Daddy he yearned for was right before his eyes, yet they could not acknowledge each other.
He wanted to know from his mother: why?
Mommy and Daddy aren't like my eldest uncle and aunt; I can tell that much. But why do I exist? At such a young age, there's too much I don't understand, too much I don't know. Sometimes, I really wish I could turn into a balloon, instantly inflatable, instead of having to wait day by day, month by month, to grow up bit by bit.
"Who said we're a family of three?"
Confronted by her son's questioning, Adele was a bit flustered, yet she feigned composure and rebuffed the point she had already refuted numerous times.
Noah Reyes pressed his lips together and stared deeply at her once more, as though he feared that if he blinked, Adele might vanish from his sight forever.
"Deon Myers."
While Noah Reyes was gazing at Adele, he called for Deon Myers.
Deon Myers approached quickly, standing respectfully to Noah Reyes's right front, awaiting his instructions.
Noah Reyes gestured, signaling Deon Myers to come closer.
Deon Myers complied.
Then Noah Reyes whispered a few orders into Deon Myers's ear, and Deon Myers's expression changed slightly.
"Leader, what about you?"
"I will follow shortly," Noah Reyes said, his gaze still fixed on Adele. There were issues here he had yet to resolve. He hoped to establish their relationship before leaving; that would give him some peace of mind.
Deon Myers seemed to hesitate a bit.
Noah Reyes's expression turned cold immediately. "Do as I have ordered!" he said harshly.
Deon Myers dared not hesitate any longer. He nodded in agreement and then turned to leave swiftly.
Adele had no idea what the master and servant were discussing, but she sensed something was amiss—the atmosphere wasn't right. Noah Reyes must have encountered some problem.
Shortly thereafter, the sound of cars starting came from outside, one after another—a continuous stream signifying many vehicles leaving at the same time.
The elite members of the Luminous Sect's information department, recently transferred to Syrena by Noah Reyes, quickly vanished from the Nameless Manor. Elder Alu temporarily entrusted his daughter to Deon Myers and also left with his men. Florence Ford had enrolled in a Literary and Martial Arts School. To foster her independence, Elder Alu had resolutely made this arrangement, leaving his daughter behind as he departed with his group.
In just a moment, the Nameless Manor was nearly empty, leaving only Deon Myers and a few of Noah Reyes's personal bodyguards.
The swift dismissal of everyone indicated that the Luminous Sect was facing a significant crisis.
"Adele, I am Billy's father, his biological father—that is an ironclad fact. How much longer can you keep it from Billy?" Noah Reyes suddenly spoke gravely, causing Adele's heart to quiver. He had chosen this moment, in front of their son, to reveal it.
Hadn't he said he wasn't trying to snatch my son away?
Adele bit her lower lip hard, gripping her son's hand tightly, her body trembling slightly.
