Protagonist's Evil System: My Girlfriend Turned Into A Dragon-Chapter 88 Who’s In The Shadows?
The feeling of being tangled by an invisible thing triggered Lucas. He opened his eyes wide, "What the hell is this?!"
The Shadow smirked, "I told you already: I am a warrior of the shadows."
Lucas' face turned red with anger, "I knew it! I'm going to kick your ass!" He raised his hands up, "Get ready to die!"
The Shadow sighed, "Alright, I guess you're stronger than the last one." It held its hand out, "Come over here."
Lucas took a step forward, "Don't touch me!" He yelled.
The Shadow chuckled, "I was only joking, I won't hurt you."
"Yeah, right!" Lucas snarled, "This is getting frustrating!"
The Shadow placed his finger on the ground, "What is your name?"
Lucas stopped moving, looking at its hand.
"My name?" He asked, "I don't remember having a name."
The Shadow nodded, "What does it feel like to be free?"
Lucas looked at him, "Free?"
"Yes," The Shadow said, "What do you feel when you look into the sky? When do you see a person smile? What do you feel when you're with your loved ones?"
Lucas's eyes moved up, staring at the ceiling.
"N-nothing," He muttered, "I don't feel anything."
When he was lost in his thoughts, Haya jumped from above and hit the shadow's head. The Shadow screamed, falling to the ground. Lucas turned around, and grabbed Haya's arm, pulling him down to the ground.
"Are you ok?" Lucas asked.
Haya nodded slowly, looking down at the Shadow, "you can move," he spoke to Lucas while eyes focused on the black creature.
Lucas glanced down again, "how did you do that?"
"It doesn't matter," The Shadow said, standing up.
Lucas narrowed his eyes, "I wasn't talking to you."
"Obviously not." The Shadow said, "Just kidding."
"Why did you hit me?" Lucas asked, walking toward the Shadow.
"You were making a lot of noise," Haya answered, "and you just attacked without saying anything."
"Fine, you're right," Lucas said, "I'm sorry."
The Shadow laughed, "good to know you're still human."
"Shut up!" Lucas growled.
"Still got fire in your veins," The Shadow remarked, "that's good."
Lucas glared at him, "shut up."
"Anyway," The Shadow said, "I'll take you to your friend now."
"Where is she?" Lucas asked.
"I haven't seen her yet," The Shadow replied to Lucas.
It had a shape of a humanoid, but there was something wrong with it. Its body was covered with a dark blue cloak, and its arms were crossed over its chest. It walked as if it was floating through the ground. 𝐟r𝒆ℯ𝘄𝑒𝒃𝚗𝒐𝘃e𝗹.c𝘰𝐦
"What are you?" Lucas asked.
The Shadow smiled, "A warrior of the shadows."
Lucas looked at it, "again with the same answers,"
The Shadow nodded, "but I'm no ordinary shadow either. I control the shadows of those who dwell within me."
Lucas stared at it, "so you're like a master of shadows?"
"Not exactly," The Shadow said.
Lucas frowned, "then how do you call yourself a warrior of the shadows?"
The Shadow shrugged its shoulders, "because I use the shadows to my advantage. I can manipulate the shadows."
"Sounds better than nothing," Lucas snorted.
"Not really." The Shadow yawned, "if you want to be a true warrior of the shadows, then you must learn how to control the shadows yourself."
Lucas shook his head, "I don't understand this crap you're talking about."
"But you can't get out of here unless you master the art of controlling the shadows." The Shadow grinned.
It was already the middle of the day. The sun shone brightly, and the sky was clear, 'it's such a waste of the day,' he moved his shoulders as he turned to Haya.
"You can talk to this shadow all you want, but I must go and find Kali," he turned around and walked closer to cold Xina's body lying on the ground. He knelt beside her, "Hey, are you ok?" He lifted her up, "You're in a bad state."
Xina moaned, "what happened?"
Xina looked at the surrounding, "are we close to the forest?" She asked him.
Her cute, but seductive voice made Lucas chuckle, "no, but we are about to get you out of here,"
"How?" She asked, "we've been here for hours."
Lucas felt a chill run down his spine, "it's a long story."
"Ok then," Xina said trying to look behind his shoulder, "who's that?" she asked as she placed her arms around Lucas's neck.
She was so pretty, he thought, and he could feel her warm breath against his cheek. He couldn't resist, and he hugged her back.
"Who?"
"The guy next to you," She said.
Lucas turned around and saw The Shadow still standing still. They both looked at each other with a frown.
"So," The Shadow started, "do you wanna tell me who's this?" It asked Lucas about Xina.
"Y-yeah," Lucas said, "she's an old friend."
"From where?" The Shadow asked, "I don't feel like telling you." Lucas sighed and began to walk out of the barn they were in.
"Hey, wait," The Shadow called after him, "I have to take you to your friend."
Lucas stopped and faced the shadow, "Yeah, I understand. But first, I have to get Xina out of here."
The Shadow nodded, "yes, let's go."
They all walked outside, and Lucas pointed at a huge tree towering above them, "is that one of the trees from the forest?"
"Yep," The Shadow said.
"Then why aren't you going back to the forest? It's so much closer."
"Because I don't know how to get back there," The Shadow replied.
After a couple of seconds, Lya showed up holding Notru's hand. Lucas turned to them and gently placed Xina's body next to Kalaini's. Before allowing anyone to talk, his first priority was to ask about Kali. f𝓇𝘦e𝑤𝘦𝚋𝒏૦ѵℯ𝒍.c𝐨𝒎
"Kali!" He shouted, "where are you?" He brushed his hair back with his fingers.
Lya smiled weakly and said, "we're here, Lucas."
"That's not what I asked," Lucas insisted, "why are you here? What happened to you?"
She stared at him, "you have something to say?" This wasn't a moment to joke around.
Weird things kept happening, new and strange people showed up and wanted to get rid of his existence.
They found Kalaini, and he was happy that her big ass was saved, but where is the girl that went with her? If she's dead, then what happened to the person that killed her?
"Where did you go?" He demanded.
