Chapter 21 - Skeleton Maze

So what am I supposed to do now? Rael glanced around.

Frankly, there weren't any hints, and the darkness wasn't helping either.

It was supposed to be a maze—at least, that was what the system said.

It lied again. Nice. Rael let out a sigh and began trying to navigate the dreary room toward the only window present.

When he reached it, he attempted to break it, however, the window merely bounced him back as though it were jello.

Yep, that's not going to work, Rael remarked inwardly and decided on something else entirely.

Since there was light and it only lit up a portion of the room, that meant he had to find something in that specific portion.

Therefore, he searched, and within minutes, he found an oddly shaped lever made of bones.

Unsurprisingly.

He pulled it, and immediately, the window—which had felt like jello—opened up.

Rael glanced around in case there was some other exit, but once he found out there wasn't, he went straight through the window.

The moment he did, he noticed three peculiar blue symbols on the ground, and all of them had numbers in the very middle of them.

Is this some kind of trick? There's 1, 2, and 3, he pondered.

The natural assumption would be difficulty; therefore, two would be the safest option.

Since he had no better ideas, Rael chose number two and walked up to the weird symbols.

Leaning down, he placed his hand on the number two, and the moment he did, a system interface appeared.

Fuck you too—

His complaints were cut short when, all of a sudden, his vision warped, and he felt like he was teleported elsewhere.

He closed his eyes and reopened them, and his vision finally set back in.

As it did, he saw the narrow walls around him, which menacingly stretched out into the dark clouds.

Added to that, there were multiple stains of dried blood scattered all around the stone ground.

To top it all off, Rael heard cracking sounds from the distance.

As the red sun shined down to just barely illuminate the place, he spotted a single monster and immediately used the (Inspect Monster) skill.

—Skeleton Warrior [Level 20] [2100/2100 HP]

It was just a simple skeleton, dragging a shabby sword across the ground, but since it was a level 20 monster, Rael did not dare underestimate it.

Though, it is just a bag of fucking bones. If I land a solid hit, it's dead... actually dead. Rael thought as he tapped his sword on the wall a couple of times and then sneakily made his way backward.

The Skeleton Warrior, instead of staring at him, rushed toward the last spot where he had made a noise, which meant that it was blind.

Inwardly scoffing, he picked up a rock off the ground and threw it directly under the Skeleton Warrior, making it strike the ground with its sword.

The moment it did, Rael approached, and without even giving it a second thought, smacked the Skeleton Warrior over the head.

-551!

It hadn't died in a single hit but was now on the defensive, wildly swinging its sword around.

But Rael didn't panic, as he merely stepped backward before kicking a rock at the nearby wall.

The sound it made was enough for the Skeleton Warrior to turn, and Rael proceeded to attack again, hitting the same spot he had earlier.

-551!

Oh? The damage is fixed at what I can dish out at the maximum against them... This makes things a lot easier, Rael thought with a grin as he repeated the process of tricking the Skeleton Warrior and attacking it.

Finally, he dealt the last hit, and the Skeleton Warrior crumbled to dust, leaving behind its sword.

And of course, the juicy experience and money.

<+313 Trell Acquired>

He walked up to the sword and picked it up.

—Basic Copper Sword (Common)

Durability: 77/250

Damage: 53-87

+50 Attack Power (AP)

+5 Agility

+5 Strength

It's not half bad. Rael nodded to himself before checking out the potential profits.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either, therefore, he threw it into his inventory, keeping it as an emergency money stash.

Nonetheless, as he thought he was free, a peculiar sight greeted him.

A few more Skeleton Warriors appeared, and each one of them walked with their bony hands alongside the wall, trying to find Rael.

In total, he could count 15.

Simply, a bunch of experience and money.

But as he was prepared to go at it and start killing them, an idea popped into his mind.

Skeletons are very vulnerable to blunt damage, so what if... Rael mused, opening the premium shop.

•—Premium Shop—•

Category: Weapons/Blunt Weapons

•—Balance: 630 Trell

• Goblin's Blunt Toothpick (Common): 50 Trell

• Massive Pleasure Toy (Common): 200 Trell

• Big Bonker (Common): 500 Trell

• Basic Steel Mace (Uncommon): 1000 Trell

Fuck those names, first of all. Rael grumbled and checked through each one of them.

Frankly, the only one that was good and would do what he had in mind, was the Basic Steel Mace.

And yet he couldn't even afford it.

If he wanted to afford it, he had to kill two more Skeleton Warriors.

Letting out a low sigh, Rael decided it was best to not waste money on garbage and simply kill two more.

Therefore, he walked up to the wall and sent one large and loud slice across it, drawing the attention of all the Skeleton Warriors present as they began running toward the noise.

Rael waited for them to approach, then slipped toward the rear—where three Skeleton Warriors lagged behind.

Since the walls were narrow, the skeletons ran side by side, allowing Rael to line them up perfectly and slice his sword across their backs.

-551! -551! -551!

Before the Skeleton Warriors could lash out, Rael sent a barrage of fast attacks, as the strength behind them didn't matter much.

After all, his damage was fixed.

-551! -551! -551!

-551! -551! -551!

Now with only one hit remaining, and the Skeleton Warriors closing in, Rael swiftly stabbed, piercing through each of the Skeleton Warriors' skulls.

-551! -551! -551!

<+939 Trell Acquired>

And of course, he soon made his purchase.

—Basic Steel Mace (Uncommon)

Damage: 51-102

+50 Attack Power

+30 Strength

After quick calculations, Rael realized his max flat damage was 302.

However, as the Skeleton Warrior approached, Rael swung the mace down, shattering the Skeleton Warrior's bones into bits.

-2100! Instant Kill

<+313 Trell Acquired>

Safe to say, the max flat damage didn't mean much when you had a weapon that could counter your opponent.

And of course, the grin on Rael's face was nearly as big as his soon-to-be-filled pockets.

It almost seemed like his greedy gaze sent shivers down the skeletons' spines.

But that was impossible.

Probably.

"My walking money bags... Come here!"
