Chapter 67 [V/S Moon]

"Pfffft… hahahahahaha…." He started laughing out loud as he heard my question. His eyes lit up, while he himself fell down on the ground, laughing in the stomach.

"That was a very, very interesting answer," he continued as he smiled brightly at me, with the corner of his lips still smiling. He seemed rather calm now, compared to the tense atmosphere before.

"You know.. You might be the third or fourth person, whom I have given these three question chances," he said as he got himself back up with a push. "The first person answered only the first question correctly. The second and third person reached the 3rd question, but their greed got the better of them. One of them said that they would rule the world, making it a better place," he spoke with a sigh.

He was constantly moving around as he was speaking, circling me while speaking each of the words slowly and slowly. As if he wanted me not only to know about it but to engrave it in my heart.

"The third person, just like the first one, asked for his own desires. He asked for women, riches and everything else. To live happily for eternity… but alas, even I could see them destroying the world just after a millennium or two," he ended the sentence there.

I liked the motive of the third question. It was to see if you were able to keep the world as it is, even after attaining a huge amount of power.

Most people may get what they want within the click of a finger… but that also makes it extremely boring. You will probably start to lose interest in most things by the year. By decades you will start wondering what you should do for entertainment.

If you aren't someone with a strong will power, you will start losing your mind by a century or two. If you somehow manage to do that, you will start losing it by the end of the.

Even though everyone is fundamentally different, it is impossible to stay sane after attaining immortality and living a long life out of it.

'Something like traveling is never ending. Even if you get bored once or twice, you do have the power to get anything done. You can make successors or perhaps stop and build a kingdom before moving on? It's like an all for one thing for an immortal who has nothing to do,' I reached an answer on my own.

"You seem to have understood my intentions. Well, then everything is fine then. I am really glad to have met someone like you, even more than the previous person. Though he was interesting in his own way," Sun spoke as he opened up two portals in front of me again.

"You pass.. You may go now," he spoke as he smiled at me and I nodded. I bowed, thanking him for letting me pass without an all out fight, before moving out of there. While I could have talked more with him, after trying so many times, I just wanted to get over this trial now. Coming out of the room, I stood there for a few moments, as I got my MP back to full. Looking at the Light Gate available for trial, Oriel must have finished his trials by now. 'I wonder what Evelyn was doing right now,' I gave it a bit of a thought before placing it at the back of my mind. Whatever must have happened, I will get to know it after I am done with the trials.

'So, let's focus on that for now,' I moved with a determined expression towards the Light Gate.

"Would you like me to explain the rules?"

The voice rang in my ears again and once again I skipped it without giving much thought to it. After all, the previous trials were exactly similar to this one.

'But since I am much more proficient in Light magic, this one is pretty easy,' I gave it a thought before entering the gate.

Obviously, the area was still the same as before. The same dark hall with white floor, at the center a man sitting clad in darkness, his eyes calm as he looked at me.

"Another one? I thought that was the last… hmmm, how many more of you are there?" He asked with a serene voice as he sat there with no movements.

It was hard to make out what the person in front of me looked like. After all, his face was filled with a dark aura, covering it completely, his body was covered with silver armor.

To be honest, it was one of the easiest trials I had until now. One can say that may be because of my current affinity with Light magic? Or perhaps because his dark magic wasn't as strong as the light magic of the previous monkey guy.

"I am the last one of this group," even still I tried to start a conversation with him. Earlier, all I had to do was go out against him using light magic, defeat him with just that and get out of here.

'But if there is a way that we can avoid that and conserve my power,' I pondered as I asked him what he would say next.

"Hmm? You don't carry the malice against me as much as the previous one?" He spoke out about Oriel first.. Oriel… or perhaps all the light mages carry an unexplained hatred towards dark magic..

"Well. They are pretty much hard-headed," I tried to joke it out, but it didn't seem like it was funny either . Instead, it made him feel curious about me.

"Most people would say that you are the odd one you know?" he spoke out as he continued talking.

"Like the previous one was pretty normal. He came up to me, tried killing me with all his might, gave his all and the hatred was pretty much cereal too. And to be fair, before you, everyone who appeared here, and trust me that they are far and many, all of them were the same."

He was talkative, wasn't he?

"I guess so. Anyway, what should I do? Do we fight? Or is there anything you wish to talk about before we do that?" Since he seemed pretty friendly, I decided to talk it out.

'Why didn't I do this in the previous runs? Hmmm… perhaps because I just wanted to know the attack pattern of the last trial that I skipped everything else,' I tried understanding my own thoughts as well while I was at it.

"Aren't you a nice fellow? Well. I would love to do that, but can you do me a favor while you are doing it?" he said.

"What favor?" I was a bit confused.

"You see. I am not really a dark mage, but a light mage that has been cursed with darkness. Since you are a light mage, can you help me remove the darkness from my body? It would do this hermit a great favor," he asked as he looked at me.

My eyes opened wide at this realization as I observed him. 'It can't be..' I was really surprised to hear his words this time. All the more especially because I have seen him fight with dark magic so effortlessly that even normal couldn't compare to it.

He is telling me that he isn't a dark mage?

"What happened? Did that really shock you that much?" he laughed out in a creepy way.

I nodded at him, because it was true. I was really shocked to see such power from a person that I have never heard of. "Well. Don't think much about it. Just tell me if you can help me remove this darkness or not?" he asked again, and I moved closer to him, my palms slowly covered in light magic..

Reaching him, I looked at him for a few seconds, before I began reading the darkness from his face. 'It is tedious,' I thought as I saw the darkness being removed kind of slowly. I increased the intensity of my magic a little in the areas where the darkness was dense and decreased it where it was low.

Slowly and slowly, the dark aura vanished. It took time, quite a lot of time to be fair, but I was able to succeedingly remove the darkness from his face.

It was only then I noticed that the guy was superior handsome. His blue eyes and that bright golden browns of his, he seemed more angelic than the angels that I have seen before.

I didn't stop just at the face, but continued to remove the darkness from his hairs, and such. Like his brows, his hairs were flooded as well. They were long, shiny and bright, giving a sort of majestic aura out of them.

Once done with the face, I saw him removing the silver armor with a smile on his face. And just like that, I continued removing the darkness from the rest of his body… on knowing what was about to come to me for all the hard work I was doing.
