Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 66: She Knows Miss Rory’s Friend!?
Chapter 66: She Knows Miss Rory’s Friend!?
At the Stardust Group.
Alvin was busy checking Alex’s schedule with the head secretary when his cell phone rang, distracting him.
Upon seeing Josh’s name on the screen, a frown gradually formed on his forehead.
"I’m sorry, but I need to take this call. Can you email me once you’re finished?" Alvin said as he rose from his chair.
"Sure, I’ll email you when I’m done."
Alvin gestured with an okay sign before rushing out of the room.
’Why is he calling me at this hour?’ Alvin muttered, glancing at his watch. It was still the afternoon, and he was supposed to guard their Lady Boss.
At this time, Josh typically only updated him through text messages and called him at night after he had finished with Aurora.
"Josh, is everything alright? Why are you calling me now?" Alvin asked, his high tone reflecting his anxiety.
When he heard Josh take a deep sigh, his curiosity and concern grew even more.
Just as Alvin was about to push Josh to speak, he heard Josh’s voice echo from the other end, "Man, you won’t believe what I’ve found out... this is strange!"
"Spill it, Josh! Stop making me curious..." Alvin snapped, pausing by the glass wall in an empty corner.
He wanted to ensure that no one overheard his conversation with Josh, even though only a few people worked in the sixty-story building. He needed to keep everything about their Boss’s new wife a secret.
"Hey! Can you be a bit more patient, man? I just want to tell you... The Lady Boss and I are eating at a restaurant on Business Street near Stardust."
Alvin was surprised to learn that Josh and Aurora were dining near Stardust Tower.
He glanced at the busy street below and asked, "Huh, why did you guys end up in this area? Which building?"
"Prescott Tower, Serendipity Restaurant. And, man, you won’t believe what I’m witnessing," Josh’s voice grew tense as he continued, "The Lady Boss met with Rory’s friend... Miss Renata!"
’Did I hear that wrong?’ Alvin was utterly shocked upon hearing that Aurora Spencer was friends with Renata. How could that be?
"Josh, are you sure that person is Miss Renata?" Alvin asked again, unable to believe Aurora Spencer ran in the same circle as Aurora Moon.
"I wouldn’t call you now if this weren’t legit, man!" Josh took another deep breath, still shocked that Aurora knew Renata.
"Have you confirmed that they are friends?" Alvin asked, concerned that he might be sent to climb Mount Everest if he provided false information to their Boss.
He needed to ensure that the information was valid before rushing to Alex to let him know.
"Man, I even ate at the same table as Renata Prescott. And you know what? I heard it myself—Renata warned Young Madam to run if she ever met Alexander Graystone once she started her internship at Stardust!"
"Damn! So that’s true..." Alvin exclaimed, unable to hold back his shock.
"I know, right? I was also taken aback when I realized she was Rory’s best friend and heard how she developed hatred toward our Boss. I almost choked and revealed to her that the woman she was talking with was our Boss’s wife."
After regaining his composure, Alvin asked again, "Why does she hate our boss?"
Josh sighed deeply when Alvin asked, "How would I know? Like you, I’m also curious, but I can’t bring myself to ask her that. Seems nosy on my part."
"Yeah, you’re right. Man, I hope the Lady Boss doesn’t buy Renata’s words," Josh replied.
"That’s my hope, too. I’ll try to talk to her about it later." Josh made a mental note to convince Aurora not to blindly believe the rumors about Alex.
"I truly hope she doesn’t believe it. If she does, I’m concerned that Young Madam will start to dislike our Boss, which will affect Boss’s mood toward us eventually," Alvin said, voicing his anxiety about his Boss’s relationship with his new wife.
"Yeah, I know...I remember how Boss treated us when his sixth wife annoyed him so badly," Josh shared Alvin’s concern.
It had been two weeks since his Boss’s wedding night, and he still hadn’t returned home. Although Aurora never asked about Alex, Josh knew she must miss him.
"Josh, how do they know each other?"
Alvin’s question jolted Josh from his thoughts. "How would I know?" he sighed deeply.
Just as Alvin was about to ask Josh something again, Josh’s voice echoed from the other end. "But I can see that they seem close and have known each other for a long time..."
"I still find it hard to believe that Miss Rory’s best friend also knows Young Madam. They even share the same name. I feel a thrill right now..."
Alvin’s words sent a shiver down Josh’s spine. He glanced inside the restaurant to check on Aurora.
From his position, he could see her smile, wide enough for him to imagine how happy she was talking with Renata.
However, when his eyes landed on a man sitting at their table, he was shocked. ’When did a man join them? Who is he?’
"Josh, are you there?"
"I’m here, but I need to go now, Alvin," Josh said hurriedly as he prepared to head back inside. "Can you try to convince Boss Alex to go home?"
Alvin gritted his teeth. After hearing Josh’s request, he replied, "I’ve tried many times, but Boss Alex always stops me from bringing it up."
Josh paused before opening the door. "Man, why am I starting to think that Boss Alex isn’t entirely fond of his new wife? I’m worried he might get divorced again."
"Damn it, Josh! Stop talking nonsense," Alvin snapped, clearly disagreeing with Josh’s words.
Alvin added, "If Boss Alex didn’t like her, he wouldn’t have asked her to stay at Green Hill. He also wouldn’t have asked you to guard her."
"You’re right," Josh said with a foolish smile as he pushed aside his doubts. How could he forget that?
"Don’t overthink it. Boss Alex didn’t return to Green Hill because he once mentioned that he couldn’t touch her... Well, you know... she was still young and hadn’t graduated yet," Alvin explained.
"You’re right again, man. I forgot to mention that today is her final exam. We won’t return to her campus unless there’s something important to handle with the administration or for graduation."
"Oh, have you guys already taken the exam? Why didn’t you tell me earlier? So technically, she has graduated now..."
"Yeah!"
"Alright, I’ll persuade him to come back home. I’m exhausted after working nonstop for the last two weeks. He really put us through a lot!" Alvin complained.
"Good luck, man!" Josh said as he ended the call. He was worried that the guy sitting at their table might steal their Lady Boss away.
