Return With the Billionaire Baby Daddy-Chapter 149: Sad and confused situation
Damian entered the emergency room with a frown until he saw Zac lying on the bed with his head wrapped in bandages and his right leg visibly injured, also wrapped in thick bandages. He approached the man immediately, then leaned over, gazing at him until he woke up and glanced at him.
"Who are you?" Zac asked.
"Fanny’s employer," Damian replied shortly.
Zac fell silent immediately, remembering his argument in the car with Fanny that ended in a fatal accident.
"She should have been fulfilling her duty to take care of my son at kindergarten, but she was with you instead, and then got an accident. What were you two doing? Where were you going?" Damian wondered.
"She... She’s my girlfriend," Zac replied nervously, visibly in pain. "We just wanted to spend time together while your son was at kindergarten."
"Don’t lie!"
"No, I’m not lying... We do that often."
"I know you’re lying!" Damian asserted angrily. "You must know that she just committed a crime in my mansion, and you were going to help her escape!"
"No... I don’t know anything about that," Zac continued to lie. "Fanny is a bit naughty because she doesn’t always follow your rules, but she never commits crimes. Besides, she would be afraid... She knows her employer is very powerful... She wouldn’t dare do anything that could get her in trouble with you."
"Really?" Damian narrowed his eyes.
"Yes... I’m sure of it."
Damian let out a rough breath, then put his hand in his side pocket, glaring at Zac angrily but trying to contain his anger.
"Now you might not admit it, or maybe you don’t know. But you’re already involved... You’ve helped Fanny to escape," he said with a determined look. "When the fingerprint test results come out and prove that she wanted my wife to fall down the stairs, I’ll also imprison you!"
"No..." Zac immediately shook his head but then fell silent because his neck hurt so much.
"You have to be honest to flee my punishment!" Damian insisted.
Zac remained tense, but in his heart, he thought, ’No, I can’t be honest. That could mess everything up. Karina would go to jail, and I would too, and I don’t get the money... I’m sure this guy is just trying to trick me!!’
"Just say what you know about Fanny!" Damian urged.
Zac shook his head slowly. "I don’t know."
"Okay... you’ll be in jail after this!" Damian confirmed, then quickly left in frustration.
He stopped near the waiting chairs, then took out his ringing phone and saw an incoming call from Hans.
"How is Hannah?" he asked anxiously.
"The surgery is done, she’s in the recovery room now but still unconscious," Hans replied weakly, making Damian think that he too was saddened by Hannah’s condition. "What about the perpetrator search process?"
"Um... I’m increasingly sure that Fanny is guilty, but now I can’t interrogate her, she’s got an accident and coma," Damian explained.
"Really?"
"Yes... Everything feels messy now. I don’t know who the real perpetrator is... It couldn’t be Samuel who ordered Fanny, especially since he’s so poor and like a beggar now. And if Fanny did it on her own, it feels strange. She never had conflicts with Valerie before, and they didn’t even know each other before," Damian explained anxiously, thinking about Valerie who was now in the mansion. "Now I’m going back to the mansion. Please take care of everything needed by Hannah; I have to be with my wife. She’s angry, but she doesn’t want to go to my parents’ mansion..."
"Okay..."
Damian ended the call, then hurriedly left the hospital and got into his car. While driving, he was haunted by his encounter with Samuel, which only made him angrier at him.
"What does she want? Is Samuel not worthy of punishment? But what if he’s not punished? I can’t let him roam freely when he’s so dangerous. He could harm Daniel, Valerie, or even me!" He monologued to himself, continuing to think about Valerie, who now seemed resigned as if she didn’t care if there was another crime in their mansion.
...
At the hospital, Hans just sat quietly in a chair, looking at Hannah who was still unconscious, so pale with her head wrapped in bandages, wearing a whitish pink gown, and with IV and oxygen tubes and some other medical equipment attached to her body.
’Hannah, if only you knew, that today I planned to propose to you, I was so ready to be a father to your child... But everything’s a mess now,’ he thought sadly. "You must feel so shattered, and not ready to answer me if I propose to you... I have to wait again. But I’m impatient... I want us to be together as a couple, not just friends anymore... I want you to not feel alone anymore... I want to erase all the sadness in your heart," he said softly, his eyes becoming teary, unable to bear seeing Hannah so miserable.
Far from her family, not even wanting to return to her family and choosing to release Samuel because she felt confused because she felt she wouldn’t be treated well by her family, that thought always made him pity her, and wanted to accompany her forever.
"Emh... Baby... My baby.."
Hannah spoke with such a weak, faint voice, her eyes still struggling to open.
"Hannah..." Hans immediately stood up, reaching for Hannah’s hand and looking at her anxiously. Slowly, Hannah opened her eyes and remained silent with a vacant look, as if remembering something.
"I’ll call the doctor," Hans said, quickly leaving the room.
Hannah glanced at Hans who slowly faded from her view, then shifted her gaze to her abdomen, which felt so loose and painful.
"My baby, is he okay?"
She then touched her stomach with her left hand.
"My Hans... It hurts so much!" She groaned in pain, afraid to move her hand again. ’What is this? Is my baby not safe? Why don’t I feel my baby anymore...’
With all her might, she moved aside the blanket covering her stomach, then lifted her shirt and found her slightly bloated stomach but wrapped in a bandage, right in the pelvic area.
"What happened? Oh my God..." Her tears were already flowing, so scared to see the wound on her stomach. "Have they taken my baby? Can my baby be saved?" She wondered while glancing at the door again.
Hans came with the doctor, immediately approaching the panicked Hannah.
"Why can’t I feel my baby?" Hannah asked.
Hans remained silent, unable to answer.
"Doctor!" Hannah looked at Hans. "Why can’t I feel my baby?"
The female doctor sighed, looking at Hannah with pity.
"Your baby is already in heaven... And maybe this is for the best. I know it’s hard for you, but you have to be strong," she said.
Hannah immediately shed tears, imagining the difficult pregnancy moments, imagining her anticipation of seeing the cute baby that would be the joy of her life, but all that passed would never become a reality.
"I know it’s hard for you, but you have to be strong," the doctor repeated, patting Hannah’s shoulder.
Hannah was just silent amidst her tears.
The doctor briefly examined Hannah, then turned to Hans.
"Perhaps you can help her calm down, but don’t talk to her when she’s crying. Just stay by her side," he said.
Hans just nodded.
The doctor quickly left while Hans sat in a chair, looking at Hannah who continued to cry until her eyes and cheeks were wet with tears. He reached out his hand, helping her wipe away those tears.
"It’s okay to cry, no one in this world can easily accept the reality of loss," he said. "I understand you. But you have to believe you can get through all of this. Problems keep coming, unexpected events happen, but whatever it is, you have to try to stay strong because you’re still alive... You still have a long journey ahead," he continued calmly.
"It’s a baby boy... I had an ultrasound a few days ago," Hannah replied through her tears. "I had imagined playing with him... Working hard for his future... I had nothing else on my mind but him... He was my spirit, but now... He’s gone," she continued, her tears escalating.
Hans fell silent with concern, not knowing what to say.
"Destiny is too cruel to him..."
"And perhaps God didn’t let him be born because God didn’t want him to suffer. I believe God has a beautiful plan."
"What kind of beautiful plan?" asked Hannah wearily, her tears stopping. "I have no purpose in life now."
"Of course, you do," Hans said. "You can still get pregnant again... Live in your own home... No need to stay in the pavilion anymore."
Hannah smiled sardonically, imagining Samuel still being her husband.
"Do you want me to go back to Samuel and go through the pregnancy program again!?" she asked.
Hans fell silent, confused.
"I’d rather not have any children with him at all... He’s problematic, he’ll never be a good husband or father!" Hannah said sharply.
Hans furrowed his brow. ’I mean having a child with me,’ he thought.
"If I meet him, I will immediately end our marriage," said Hannah.
"He’s at the police station," replied Hans.
"Really? Has the police caught him?"
"No, but he turned himself in."
Hannah sighed, imagining Samuel’s face, remembering the times they were together, and how he showed affection to her because she was pregnant.
"Now I’m not pregnant anymore, there’s no reason for us to remain husband and wife," she said.
"You don’t need to think about that," replied Hans. "The important thing is for you to recover."
Hannah just stayed silent, imagining meeting Samuel again, and then telling him that their baby had died.
"Maybe he’ll be angry with me first before I scold him," she said.
"What?"
"Maybe he’ll blame me for our baby’s death," Hannah explained.
Hans took a deep breath. "If he blames you, then don’t be afraid, don’t feel guilty. If he didn’t waste you, didn’t betray your trust, didn’t betray your sacrifices, maybe you wouldn’t be here. It’s all his fault... Never feel sad when he scolds you for what happened to your baby... He’s the main problem!" He said softly, yet firmly.
