Return With the Billionaire Baby Daddy-Chapter 38: warning from Adriana
"Mom, I met Samuel," Adriana said, looking at her mother placing the cake dough into a square-shaped pan.
"Why did you meet him?"
"To warn him not to approach Valerie again." ππ£πππ°πππ§πΌπππ.π°π¨π¦
Dana furrowed her brow, putting the dough into the oven. "Why would you do that? If Valerie finds out, sheβll be angry because Samuel has been kind to her. Heβs been good to her." She closed the oven, adjusting the temperature and time.
"Valerie wonβt find out, and if she does, Iβll explain my intention," Adriana replied.
Dana sighed, approaching Adriana and sitting near the pantry, facing her. "Whatβs your intention?"
"I donβt want her trapped in a loveless relationship. If Samuel keeps being kind, helping her, and later asks to rekindle their relationship, she might hesitate to refuse. It means sheβll be stuck in a loveless relationship, especially when she still longs for Damian. Being close to Samuel will only keep her in dilemma."
Dana fell silent, contemplating Adrianaβs explanation.
"Moreover, I donβt want him as a brother-in-law... Heβs cunning!" Adriana stated firmly, turning her face towards the employee packing cakes. "Now I know he deliberately didnβt bring Valerie back to us sooner... Heβs insane, with crazy motives!" she continued.
"What?"
Adriana turned to Dana. "Of course, he wants Valerie. He hasnβt told Valerie about Damian, even though he knows Damian is confused looking for her. Heβs keeping Valerie in confusion and trauma, knowing she needs support, but he thinks he can provide it. He wants to make her feel indebted and..."
"Nana!" a cute voice from the door interrupted Adriana. She looked to see Daniel coming with a small paper bag, looking enthusiastic.
"Hey, Sweetie..." Dana immediately stood up, welcoming him.
Adriana glanced at Valerie, who was placing several paper bags near the door, looking tired and disheveled, sparking her interest to approach.
"You look disheveled, what happened?" she asked.
Valerie remained silent, choosing to sit in a chair, facing the glass showcase while taking out keys and a black card from her bag.
Adriana, intrigued, pulled another chair and sat next to Valerie. "What happened?"
"Damianβs mother gave me this." Valerie showed me the keys and black card. "A house and an unlimited shopping card. I can even withdraw money from it."
Adriana was surprised, slightly open-mouthed.
"I feel undeserving of this, and Mr. McCourtney will probably hate me more," Valerie said, her concern visible.
"Valerie, you deserve this. Damianβs mother probably intended this for Daniel, and because she cares about you. Or maybe itβs still a sign that sheβll support you if you get back with Damian!" Adriana said enthusiastically.
Valerie shook her head, lowering it. "I think not."
"Why do you think that?"
"Because she said if Iβm not interested in marrying again, I can occupy that house with Daniel even sooner if I want. Itβs like indicating that Damian doesnβt expect me back," Valerie explained sadly. "Think about it; if she truly supported me getting back with Damian, she wouldnβt buy me that house. Surely she knows Damian would buy a better house for us. And from what she did today, she didnβt say anything about Damian, but I know itβs a sign that he stopped proving his love for me," she continued disappointingly.
Adriana fell silent, frowning, seemingly contemplating something.
"I donβt know what to say if Mr. McCourtney comes," Valerie said again.
"Donβt be afraid," Adriana replied. "Just say itβs all his wifeβs wish, and you have no power to refuse. He wonβt harm you."
Valerie remained silent.
"I donβt understand why you think Damian isnβt pursuing you anymore, especially since youβre no longer involved with Samuel. Havenβt you told him?" Adriana asked.
Valerie shook her head.
"You havenβt told him?" Adriana asked again, seemingly not understanding Valerieβs gesture.
"No, I donβt want to tell him."
"Oh, Valerie..." Adriana sighed, leaning her back on the chair, looking resigned. "You should tell him. Itβs good for him. Heβll surely come back to you."
Valerie bit her lower lip, looking at the keys and black card, but also picturing Damian.
"I donβt want to say it because I still canβt go back to him. I still donβt believe," she said anxiously.
"Valerie..." Adriana looked at Valerie with frustration, clenching her hands.
Valerie remained bowed.
"You canβt make him chase you endlessly. He also has patience limits. Right now, you both have faults; it all started from his mistake. Donβt keep discussing it. Stop remembering his mistakes because itβs proven he has no special relationship with Clara. Even after that day, he was never with her again. Itβs all pure foolishness, maybe due to the party, we donβt know if he was drunk or influenced by drugs."
"But it hurts me," Valerie said, making Adriana stop talking.
"But you hurt him too by flaunting your relationship with Samuel. How long will you both keep comparing your mistakes? Donβt you think you should be together for Danielβs sake?" Adriana asked impatiently. "Get rid of your resentment; you have to try to trust. Get rid of your fear of his father because if youβre right and try to improve yourself, everything will get better, including his fatherβs attitude towards you. Accepting him doesnβt mean you lose; it doesnβt mean youβre weak, but youβre strong enough to fight against trauma and distrust for the sake of your son. You even know your son likes him. Iβve been silent all this time, but I often realize that your son always wants his father by his side!"
Valerie remained silent, her gaze anxious as she considered Adrianaβs words.
Phone ringing.
Valerie quickly took her phone from her bag and then saw a call from Samuel.
Adriana frowned, remembering her conversation with Samuel at the cafe, so she immediately took the phone.
"You donβt need to talk to him; heβll only make you more confused!" she said firmly.
"But..."
"No βbutsβ! I donβt want him to poison your mind again!" Adriana reiterated, then stood up. "You still havenβt realized that heβs been poisoning your mind all this time. I think you need a refresh!" She scolded while walking towards the kitchen.
Valerie remained silent, sulking, not daring to oppose Adriana. She looked at the keys and black card in her lap, then picked them up.
βShould I move into that house right away? It does seem more comfortable; I can work freely, no noise, no one to talk with me often... I wonβt tell Samuel so he wonβt come....so, I can focus on my book...β
