Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 167: Going on a Date

"How about we go on a date? We didn’t get to go on dates before we got married. We can change that now." Leng Pan suggested immediately.

Well, since she was not the original Leng Pan who had been too reserved and indecisive, she would make up for all the regrets she had in life.

"Where would you like to go and what do you want to do?" Lu Zhen asked immediately after.

No matter what his wife wanted to do, he would make it happen.

"How about going to the amusement park? I haven’t been there for a long time. There is one not far from here. I don’t know if it survived the meteorite shower and whether it still has electricity. But even if it doesn’t, I am sure there are a lot of things we can do there and have fun." Leng Pan said with a childlike smile on her face.

Even though Lu Zhen could not see her, he could tell that there was a lot of anticipation in her voice and she was looking forward to the date.

He had to make sure that his wife’s wish was fulfilled. So, he decided to go to the amusement park early the next morning to make sure that everything was fine before it was time for the two to go on their date.

However, he didn’t tell Leng Pan about this because he was sure she would insist on coming with him. He wanted to surprise her, so going with her would beat the whole purpose of a date.

"Alright then, tomorrow we will go on a date at the amusement park." Lu Zhen agreed before tightening his arm around his wife and urging her to go to sleep.

"Go to sleep earlier then. We have a long day of fun tomorrow." He said with a voice that sounded like a father coaxing his daughter to sleep.

Leng Pan was amused by her husband’s antics but it also comforted her and she fell asleep soon after.

Lu Zhen also followed and fell asleep soon after that. The next morning, Lu Zhen got out of bed at five in the morning. He was cautious not to wake up his wife. Luckily, Leng Pan seemed to have unconditional trust in her husband and wherever he was around, she didn’t need to keep her guard up. Thus, she didn’t even stir when Lu Zhen woke up.

After freshening up and changing his clothes, Lu Zhen left the house and headed down to the ground floor where their truck was parked.

He debated between taking a car and a truck and eventually decided on the car. He wasn’t going to carry anything, so he didn’t need the big vehicle.

As he was about to drive away after getting into the car, there was movement on the other side of the car and the passenger door opened before someone got in and sat down.

Lu Zhen turned around to look and found his assistant sitting there while fastening his seat belt.

"Why are you here?" Lu Zhen asked while looking at his assistant who seemed to have woken up earlier than him.

"I am accompanying you wherever you are going." Assistant Yao replied as he settled on his seat.

"Why?" Lu Zhen asked with bewilderment. He had not told anyone about his plans, mostly because he didn’t want to bother others with something as personal as his date with his wife.

However, he had not expected assistant Yao to show up.

"I can help with whatever you are going to do. From what you said yesterday, it looks like you have some enemies out there. It is not wise to go out alone. Even if I can’t help, I can at least help send a message home in case of emergencies." Assistant Yao did not overestimate his abilities, but at least he knew his advantages.

As a speed-type superpower user, he could travel faster than a car, making him the best candidate to escape or pass on messages in case of an accident or emergencies.

Lu Zhen didn’t bother arguing with his assistant because over the years they had worked together, he knew how stubborn he could get. Even if he forced him to leave, he would just follow him in secret. It was better to just be open and above board.

"Okay, you can come and help me then. I want to clear the nearest amusement park of any zombies and see if the facilities there are still useful." Lu Zhen explained his purpose as he started the car and drove out of the community.

"Why do you need the park to be clear?" Assistant Yao asked so as to understand what to do and how to help.

"I will be going on a date with my wife today. She wants to go to the amusement park, but it won’t be a date if what we are going to be doing is killing zombies. So, I want to clear it in advance and make sure that she can enjoy her day without any distractions." Lu Zhen explained further.

Assistant Yao felt that his boss was indeed the boss. Even in the apocalypse when people were burning their brains to think about how to survive, he was thinking about how to make his wife happy and going on dates.

Who else could have such a solid mentality in this situation? Going to the location of a planned date to clear zombies first. How swell!

"Alright, I will help in clearing the place so that you can go back early." Assistant Yao could tell from how early his boss had left the house that he didn’t want his wife finding out about his plans.

"Mmm." Lu Zhen grunted as the car navigated the familiar streets which had become almost unfamiliar with the debris scattered everywhere.

After driving past two streets and avoiding a good number of zombies, Lu Zhen parked the car outside the closed gate of the amusement park and alighted followed closely by his assistant.
