Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 168: The Amusement Park
The amusement park was largely intact. Only a small corner had been torn down by a meteorite that fell on the side that houses the restrooms.
This wasn’t something that would stop Lu Zhen from preparing for a date with his wife. Therefore, he proceeded to open the gate and entered the place while it was still dark outside. Assistant Yao followed behind his boss to help with the small chores that the boss could not do.
Since the facilities were mostly intact, there was not much clean up to do. The two helped each other in collecting garbage that had been left to rot on the ground.
From how scattered the garbage was, it was obvious that someone had been cleaning when the disaster struck and they had just thrown everything down and ran for their lives. That was why the garbage was so scattered.
There were also some zombies inside the park which Lu Zhen didn’t need effort to clear out. Dispatching zombies had become a very easy chore for him with the advancement of his superpowers.
However, this was a better scenario than Lu Zhen had anticipated. With assistant Yao being a speed-type superpower user, the cleaning was done in less than thirty minutes. Indeed, his services had come in handy.
"Go look around the area to see if you will find an ice cream shop and other snack shops. If there are still fresh ice cream and other things, bring them back and set up some stalls within the amusement park.
I have to go back now. You can just run back home when you are done. Also, if you spot something you need but can’t move it, let me know. I’ll bring it back for you later." Lu Zhen was still the capitalist he had been when running the Lu Group.
But this type of Lu Zhen made assistant Yao more comfortable. At least, he could tell that he did not treat him differently and was still that boss who sometimes became a brother when he needed him.
Surviving the apocalypse with someone you were sure would always have your back was a good thing. This way, he didn’t have to worry about getting stabbed in the back by the few people they meet and form a team with.
He was aware that his boss was born to stand at the top and would definitely not remain in one spot. He would definitely become someone significant in the apocalypse in the future.
So, he had to hug this thick thigh early on so that he could rise with his boss. While thinking about all this, assistant Yao was already scouring the area to find what his boss had asked for.
Lu Zhen went back home after ensuring that everything was ready. He had just walked into the bathroom inside the bedroom to take a shower when Leng Pan on the bed stirred. She had slept throughout the entire time Lu Zhen was away.
She didn’t even have any idea that he had left the house at all.
"Hey baby, are you awake already? Get up and get ready, we have a date today." Lu Zhen said this to his wife as soon as he came out of the bathroom and found her awake.
The two got ready quickly and headed to the apartment opposite theirs where their family lived.
The family was up early. Uncle Li was already in the kitchen cooking breakfast, his wife and sister were in the living room already making clothes. The whole family behaved as if they were possessed.
Looking at this scene, Lu Zhen seemed to understand what his wife had been talking about. Everyone had turned everything in their lives about surviving the apocalypse. Nobody was thinking about their lifestyle anymore. Nobody was wondering what to eat for their next meal as long as they had something to eat.
It was becoming a vicious cycle that would soon turn humans into survival robots. This was not a sight he wanted to witness every day. Even though when the world was normal, people were always running around to make more money and become richer, at least they ran around to do it.
People had social lives, they could go out to meet friends and eat together, have a drink or just talk about the difficult project they were working on. Now, there isn’t even an option to call a friend and rant.
It was at that moment that Lu Zhen realized that life had not just changed by a little. People weren’t just fighting zombies anymore, they were also fighting loneliness, and soon, depression will become the order of the day.
He decided to find a friend he had known since his high school days who was in the military to talk about the possibility of building a base. It didn’t have to be big, but a place where people could interact with each other and maybe trade stuff.
This will provide people with some semblance of a normal life to avoid any complications related to mental health. Having zombies to fight was already challenging enough, the remaining humans who had not mutated didn’t need more exhausting challenges.
"You guys are early." Li Yunjia said when she saw her son and daughter-in-law come in so early that day.
"Goodmorning Mom, goodmorning aunt." Leng Pan greeted the elders first before going over to help them with the clothes they were measuring before they could sew them.
"Goodmorning sweetheart." Li Yunjia replied. She was getting more and more satisfied with this daughter-in-law by the day. Mostly because she made her son happy, but also because she was really a likable person.
"Goodmorning Panpan." Aunt Li replied to the greeting as well.
Lu Zhen only said a concise, ’goodmorning’ and went to look for his brother.
He wanted to find out if he had come up with any ideas for the communication device he had suggested making. If not, they could brainstorm ideas. It was also an opportunity for the two brothers to bond and build their relationship.
