Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 316. A Celebration for a Bright Future
Chapter 316: Chapter 316. A Celebration for a Bright Future
"Hahaha! Did you see Lei Tong’s face yesterday? It was priceless!" Wei Lusiong laughed.
He was in the main hall, which was packed full of hundreds of Wei Clan members. They were having a party, which was less formal and more lively compared to the feast they organized yesterday. They were on their best behavior yesterday, considering many of the guests were important people of the city. Most clan masters came to congratulate the Wei Clan, while the White Cloud Sect and Lei Clan sent representatives. Lei Tong, the second son of clan master Lei Bo, represented the Lei Clan.
"I certainly did. He looked like he had just swallowed a big pile of shit! Hahaha!" A Wei Clan member by the name of Wei Ron said.
"Heh, fuck those Lei people," Wei Lusiong said. "We have been under them for so long, and what do we get for it? All they did was look down on us and treat us like we were cheap laborers. Let’s see if they dare to look down on us from now on!"
The other Wei Clan members echoed his declaration. They shouted and hollered, filling the hall with a cacophony of sounds.
"Settle down!" Wei Suangsou, who sat on the main chair, told everyone. As the clan master, his words carried weight. Everyone quieted down.
"It is fine to celebrate like this, but do not get overconfident," Wei Suangsou said. "We might have gained privileges equal to the Lei Clan, but in terms of strength, we are not. We have a lot of catching up to do. With the resources available to us, thanks to these privileges, we should be able to catch up. Still, we need time, and we need to work hard. Before our strength is sufficient, avoid making trouble with the Lei Clan. We can’t fight them head-on yet."
Everyone took the advice to heart. They understood what Wei Suangsou tried to convey. There was a clear gap in terms of the average cultivation level between their members and Lei Clan members. If they went into a clash, they were the ones at a disadvantage.
The clearest distinction was the difference between the numbers of their martial realm members. Lei Clan members with Martial Realm cultivation could be counted with two hands. As for the Wei Clan, they only had four members. Wei Suangsou was one of the four. He had the cultivation of the Intermediate Spirit Stage. In comparison, the clan master of Lei Clan, Lei Bo, had the cultivation of the Peak Spirit Stage.
"We have Wei Linkun to thank for this. Where is the young master?" Wei Ron asked.
"That’s true! It was because he had befriended a senior minister and the Yan Clan that we were given the opportunity to take out the Lin Clan and replace them."
"Hmph, he is just at the right place at the right time," a man sitting beside Wei Suangsou said. He was Wei Wushu. He was Wei Suangsou’s oldest grandson, who was also Wei Linkun’s older brother. He was another Wei Clan member with the cultivation of the Martial Realm. His cultivation level was at the Intermediate Mystic Stage.
"That might be true, which means he has luck," Wei Suangsou responded to Wei Wushu’s words. "Cultivation is important but not sufficient. What is also needed are external gains, which are a matter of luck. It might be due to luck that Wei Linkun brought our clan this boon. It doesn’t make his merit any less. You should do well to understand this if you wish to be a good clan master."
"Grandfather is always the wisest," Wei Wushu bowed his head.
Wei Wushu was the favored member to replace Wei Suangsou as clan master one day. He was displeased because he felt threatened by Wei Linkun’s achievement. Wei Suangsou expertly praised Wei Linkun while reassuring Wei Wushu that his position was unchallenged.
"Still, where is Wei Linkun indeed? He should be here celebrating with us," Wei Ron said.
"He went to check the prisoners," Wei Suangsou informed. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"If you ask me, I said he was upset," Wei Lusiong said.
"Upset? How can he be upset with what our clan has gained?" Wei Ron asked.
"He is upset because he cannot get revenge for his friend," Wei Lusiong answered. "He was sure Lin Mo would come, either for retribution or to save Madam Lin."
"Hmph! Why bother so much about one little brat?" Wei Wushu harrumphed. "He can take his revenge once our clan grows big enough. Lin Mo no longer has a clan to cling on. He will be powerless against us."
"I won’t be so certain about that," Wei Suangsou said. "If I’m not wrong, the annihilation of the Lin Clan is because of that brat. It was that brat who enraged Senior Minister Pu Zhang and the Yan Clan. However, they can’t touch him, so they redirected their fury onto his clan."
"Clan master, you must be joking, right?" Wei Ron asked. "How can a brat oppose a senior minister and escape his grasp?"
"I can’t say for sure. Wei Linkun is better informed of this matter. Anyway, it turns out Lin Mo’s bond with the Lin Clan isn’t that deep. The boy doesn’t show up even after so many weeks have passed. He doesn’t care about his clan."
"That is not surprising. I heard he is not an original member of the clan. He came from the Hei Clan, which had been wiped out," Wei Wushu said.
"Funny that both the clans he was a member of had been annihilated," Wei Lusiong remarked. "Woe to the next clan he joins."
"He is a student of the Royal Academy, isn’t he? The Royal Academy is not exactly a clan, but perhaps it will be the next to get exterminated because of him," Wei Ron joked. "Which reminded me, he was that brat who cut your son’s legs during the White Cloud Tournament, wasn’t he?"
"He was, which is why I am also slightly upset that he didn’t show up," Wei Lusiong answered. "I’ve been looking forward to cutting his legs as a payback. He had cost me a lot to get a Regrowth pill for my son."
"Enough about the brat. He is not important!" Wei Wushu exclaimed. He lifted his cup. "Let’s drink! For Wei Clan’s future!"
"For Wei Clan’s future!" Everyone echoed.
"This is amazing wine! I have never tasted such fine wine. Where did you get this wine, clan master?" Wei Ron asked.
"That is Heavenly Bliss Wine," Wei Suangsou answered.
"Heavenly Bliss Wine? This is the best wine in the country! But... I thought this wine is only sold in the capital?"
"It is. The wine cost me a fortune, but it is worth the occasion. I sent someone to source it in the capital and have it delivered for us."
"If you served this wine yesterday, it would surely make our guests’ eyes turn especially large."
"Hah! They don’t deserve this wine! This wine is only for Wei Clan members," Wei Suangsou exclaimed.
That might have been what he said, but the true reason was he didn’t have enough wine to serve the Wei Clan members and all the guests who came yesterday.
"Drink! This might be the only time you get to taste this wine. Savor it while you can," Wei Suangsou said.
"Haha, clan master is too modest. Our clan seems to be on the right track. We will only grow from here on. There will be more occasions in the future for us to have this wine."
"Agreed!"
Everyone continued drinking with a jolly feeling. Everyone was having a good time. Their future looked bright. They were together, they had good food, and they were drinking the best wine. There was nothing to worry about. That was until they saw some of their members walk out the door.
"What is going on there?" Wei Suangsou asked one of the maids who served the wine.
"They said they are not feeling well. They want to return to their chambers to rest," the maid answered.
"Talking of not feeling well, I also felt some discomfort in my stomach," Wei Ron said.
"You’ve probably just eaten too much," Wei Lusiong made fun of him.
"Maybe... but I think I must go as well," Wei Ron said. "I’m sorry, clan master, I must excuse myself."
Wei Suangsou nodded. As he did, he saw more and more people stand up and walk toward the exit. He frowned at the scene.
He then saw one of the people who was walking away stopped. That person held his stomach before falling to the floor. He then saw similar things happening to several others.
He stood up and was about to call their clan’s pill master to check on those people when he noticed Wei Ron was also down on the floor. He jumped and landed beside Wei Ron.
"What’s wrong?" he asked.
Wei Ron couldn’t answer. His face was contorted by pain. Suddenly, he vomited a large amount of blood. Wei Suangsou was shocked by the scene. His shock multiplied a great deal when he noticed the others who had fallen were also vomiting blood. To make matters worse, more and more people started showing pain and fell to the ground writhing.
