Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 469. The Leader of the Underworld
Chapter 469: Chapter 469. The Leader of the Underworld
"This is horseshit...!!!" Wirn Chin exclaimed. She smashed the table in front of her. The table broke into pieces.
"Yo, this table is imported from Gyleth Marx. It is very costly," Gao Fongze uttered. His face displayed a pitiful expression, but his tone was ridiculing.
"Gao Fongze, do not go out of line," Fei Calao stated.
"Uncle Calao, I am already very accommodating. I let you remain in the coalition even though you have no underworld organization anymore, didn’t I?"
"That is because you stole them!" Fei Calao exclaimed in frustration.
"Gao Fongze, do you truly want to fight us all?" Mai Ziling asked.
"I don’t want to fight. I want you to know when you are beaten," Gao Fongze said. "But I’m not afraid if you do. Do your clans want to fight it in the open? Very well, go ahead. It will be easy to get the authorities to punish you if your clan makes a violent move against the Gao Clan. Or do you wish to fight in the shadows? Right now, the ones with underworld troops are the Xian Clan and the Demon Gang, but they are just two organizations. If you want to fight, I’m not afraid to fight!"
"Why, you...," Zin Bao made a threatening display.
"Hold!" Gao Fongze displayed a message talisman. "One signal and my people will lock this place down and come down here."
Zin Bao didn’t advance after the warning.
"Everyone!" Gao Fongze called. "I know you are frustrated. I know your ego is driving you to come up to me and tear me apart for what I have done. I fully understand that. A friendly advice, though. Don’t! You will only make things worse for yourself and your clans. Consider this, you take the hit, back off, cool off, and come back again when you are calm, then you will learn that things are not as bad as you thought them to be.
"You will still be a part of the underworld overlords. You will still have your hands in the pie. You will still be able to expand your business in this city with the full support of the coalition. You will still be respected by most. Your businesses, families, and clans will still be protected from the underworld menace. The only thing you must accept is that I stand above you all now. That Gao Clan will be the big brother of your clans from now on. Accept that, and we can remain friends."
"Over my dead body!" Xian Bifu exclaimed while rising to his feet. "The Mud Sharks will fight your organizations, no matter how many people you have."
"The Mud Sharks? I’m afraid they no longer exist," Gao Fongze said with a smile.
"What do you mean?" Xian Bifu asked.
"While you came here, my Street Dogs and half of the coalition force under my command marched into Mud Shark’s territory," Gao Fongze answered. "By now, they should have demolished Mud Sharks’ base and eliminated most of its members."
"You...!" Xian Bifu was lost for words upon hearing the statement.
"You are bluffing!" Xa Ti exclaimed.
Gao Fongze grinned at their responses. "You must have left a few message talismans with your underlings at the base. How about you send them a message and ask how things are going?"
Xa Ti turned to Xian Bifu, who nodded. He proceeded to take out a message talisman and write something. That talisman turned to dust. Everyone was silent as they waited.
Amon dispelled the silence with a question, "Did you send people to take out the Demon Gang as well?"
"I would love to," Gao Fongze replied. "Unfortunately, your organization is like a bunch of cockroaches. Your people are very skillful at hiding. I can’t find the location of your base. Out of everyone here, I respect you the most. I don’t want us to be enemies."
"Or maybe you don’t want a kingdom’s colonel to be your enemy," Mai Ziling said.
"Yeah, that too. However, colonel or not, I won’t relinquish my position as the underworld leader. Like everyone here, you must accept my position or face untold difficulties in running your businesses."
"Damn you...," Erl Kui said.
Xa Ti finally sensed one of the message talismans inside his space ring received a message. He took that talisman out.
On the talisman was written, "If you are looking for Xa Wan. He could no longer answer you. We have taken all of Mud Shark’s possessions. There will be no Mud Sharks from now on. Sign, the Underworld Coalition."
Xa Ti’s hands trembled when he read the message. Xian Bifu, who was beside him, also saw the message.
"You, despicable crook!" Xian Bifu cursed.
"Gao Fongze! I will avenge my brother...!!" Xa Ti exclaimed. He shot forward in Gao Fongze’s direction.
Both Xa Ti and Gao Fongze had the cultivation of the Beginning Mystic Stage. They were equal in terms of cultivation level. Gao Fongze didn’t display any urgency as Xa Ti came for him.
A flash emerged from a stack of crates at one side of the room. This flash crashed into Xa Ti, who flew away from impact. He broke several crates on the other side of the room and was buried by the wreckage.
"Gao Feng?" Xian Bifu recognized the man who had sent Xa Ti flying away.
"Thank you, brother," Gao Fongze told his brother.
"You hid someone and broke your own rules? You have no honor!" Erl Kui exclaimed.
"Please, I stole your subordinate organizations. I think it is a bit late to talk about honor," Gao Fongze replied.
Gao Feng and Sui Kou stood beside Gao Fongze. Sui Kou’s cultivation was at the Intermediate Mystic Stage, while Gao Feng was at the Peak Mystic Stage.
"You think having your brother here can save you? We outnumbered you!" Mai Ziling exclaimed. "Uncle Calao, we will leave Gao Feng to you."
"No problem," Fei Calao uttered.
The leaders of the clan representatives here were all Intermediate Mystic Stage cultivators, except Fei Calao, who was a Peak Mystic Stage cultivator. The followers behind them had the cultivation of the Beginning and Intermediate Mystic Stage.
"Hold!" Gao Fongze warned everyone again while showing his message talisman. "Do you forget I can call people down here? Do you truly want to resort to violence instead of submitting to my claim as the leader of this underworld coalition? You will not win. You will only suffer a beating."
Everyone hesitated again.
They heard a loud sound from where Xa Ti had fallen. Xa Ti came back up. He smashed the broken crates away while yelling, "You can call everyone! I don’t care! I won’t go back without your head!"
Xa Ti charged toward Gao Fongze again. Sui Kou stood in his way while Gao Feng remained near Gao Fongze.
The others looked around. They waited for one of the clan’s representatives to make a move first, but everyone hesitated.
"Screw this," Xian Bifu uttered. He couldn’t let his subordinate, Xa Ti, fight by himself. He was about to lunge forward when he noticed Xa Ti suddenly stopped.
He went from a full-speed charge to a slow wobble. Everyone was confused by this, including Sui Kou, who was ready to face him.
He coughed a few times before falling on all four. He lay on the floor with his arms covering himself like he was feeling very cold. He then stopped moving.
"What...?"
Everyone was unsure about what had happened. Xian Bifu rushed forward to check on Xa Ti.
"He... He has died...," Xian Bifu said.
"What? How come?" Mai Ziling asked.
Before they could make sense of what befell Xa Ti, they heard grunting and whimpering. Some of their followers showed similar symptoms to Xa Ti. They couldn’t speak. Their faces showed that they were in agony. They curled up on the floor and died as Xa Ti did.
While everyone was still confused, Amon picked up the bottle on the table. He pointed at Gao Fongze, "The wine! You have poisoned us!"
"What...?!" Everyone looked at the bottles before them.
"Ugh...! I’m feeling cold," Erl Kui uttered.
"You! How could you!" Mai Ziling turned to Gao Fongze.
"You, vile snake! So, you plan to murder us, after all!" Zin Bao cursed.
"What...? No, it’s not me!" Gao Fongze exclaimed.
"You dare to commit but don’t have the guts to admit it?" Wirn Chin scolded.
"I will take you down before I die...!" Xian Bifu exclaimed. He charged at Gao Fongze. The others who saw his action followed suit.
Gao Fongze, Sui Kou, and Gao Feng were flummoxed by the turn of events. Yet, they wouldn’t just sit still and let everyone beat them. They took out their weapons and defended themselves the best they could.
"Call reinforcements!" Gao Feng yelled.
Gao Fongze was still shocked but acted after hearing Gao Feng’s yell. He wrote a simple word on the message talisman and activated it.
The clan representatives fought fiercely, but one by one, they fell. It was not due to suffering from the opponent’s attacks but from the poison that turned them into cold corpses.
Fei Calao was the last to fall. He looked at Gao Fongze with unwillingness. "Curse you to hell...," he uttered weakly before turning stiff.
