Scarlet Descent-Chapter 51 - The Demon’s Disciple
"How is this possible?" the one-eyed nun exclaimed, taking a step back in shock. She stared at the iron chains, which were covered in eerie blood threads. With each inch covered, the chains became more real, adorned with dark red patterns that seemed to writhe like living things. These chains were originally an illusion created by her ability, but how could the opponent grasp them as if they were real? And why did they lose their connection to her the moment the blood threads covered them?
Before she could react, Wei Wei pushed the professional woman forward as a shield. The crimson chains, like a giant serpent, wrapped around her and pulled her towards Wei Wei.
"You..." The nun with a neck wound looked terrified, stumbling backward. "Crimson... You are a demon’s disciple..."
Wei Wei's face emerged from behind the one-eyed nun's head, his expression gentle, but his eyes filled with blood threads. He pointed at her temple. "So, you're the ones looking for me?" he asked softly.
The remaining nun suddenly screamed, her eyes filled with anger and fear. "Demon, you are a demon..."
The term "twelve demon" was used by the Foundation. In the wilderness, fanatics believed they worshipped the twelve main gods. So, in this world filled with demons, the word "demon" rarely left their lips. But now, the nun shouted it in terror.
The next moment, she saw the red monster, no, demon, fire a gun. The one-eyed nun's face contorted in despair as she fell to the ground. The demon then pushed her into the hail of bullets and leaped away.
"Whoosh whoosh whoosh..."
He landed on the steel nails that had been transformed from grass, splashing blood everywhere.
Pain!
The sensation was like an electric shock to his brain, but he seemed more excited, his speed increasing as the blood threads on his body grew more frenzied. He wasn't as agile or precise as the Order Demon, but he had a ferocious and maddening swiftness.
The crimson chains whipped out, cutting a mercenary in half and then strangling another.
Crimson Demon.
Living for slaughter, everything was just a means to kill. Legend had it that they could turn anything into a killing tool. Even the iron chains, which were just an illusion created by his companion's ability, became real once stained with his blood, turning into a weapon for slaughter.
He had killed many, and the more he killed, the more excited he became. This wasn't a fight; it was a massacre. The monster was treating his own companions like prey...
In her anger, the one-eyed nun charged forward, disregarding her neck wound. She unleashed her strongest ability as a third-stage Knowledge Demon: Spiritual Baptism. A massive spiritual maelstrom surged towards Wei Wei like a wave. The language within was dense and strange, each syllable seeming to have its own mission and consciousness.
Spiritual Baptism was the most powerful ability of the Knowledge Demon's mentor stage. Each demon system had a major ability in its first three stages. They didn't recognize the Foundation's simple classification but followed the old Twelve Gods Church's term, "God's Blessing," naming the first three stages as Disciple, Deacon, and Mentor. Those who mastered the strongest abilities of these stages could be called true Mentors.
For the Knowledge Demon system, this ability was Spiritual Baptism. It could erase an opponent's memories, consciousness, and self, turning them into a blank slate. Then, it could implant one's own thoughts, making them a disciple. As the only two Mentor-level disciples in the combat group, the nun shouldn't have used this ability. She was severely injured and hadn't recovered yet. As she unleashed Spiritual Baptism, her neck wound burst with blood.
But she couldn't care less.
"Quickly, retreat and report to the Sect Leader," she shouted.
The others, facing the twisted monster in the air, were already terrified. Hearing the nun's command, they didn't hesitate and fled into the wilderness. Some glanced back at the truck, shaking their heads in frustration. The monster had ruined their vehicle, as if to prevent their escape. They could only flee on foot, pursued by the twisted laughter that seemed to follow them closely.
The crimson shadow roamed the weeds.
Harvest time had come. "Demon, where are you..." The nun cursed, chasing after the crimson devil. Her neck wound stained her clothes red. Her desperate cries filled the air, causing the surrounding grass to bend and break. But when she arrived, there was only silence. The grass swayed, but there was no sign of the person. She felt she couldn't hold on much longer, her voice hoarse from screaming.
Suddenly, she felt strong lights shining towards her. In the jeep, Wei Wei lit a cigarette, his eyes fixed calmly on the nun in the wilderness. The blood threads around him gradually receded, seeping back into his wounds.
"Knowledge Demon, third stage?" he murmured, shaking his head. "How terrifying..."
He didn't dare provoke such abilities lightly, even though the Knowledge Demon system wasn't adept at direct confrontation. The gap between stages was significant, and carelessness could lead to disaster.
He had come alone to hunt a combat group with two third-stage superhumans. The nun's distant cries filled him with some pity.
He flicked away the cigarette butt and floored the gas pedal. The modified jeep roared like a wild beast, reversing before charging into the weeds.
The blood threads seeped into the steering wheel and the vehicle, giving the jeep a surge of energy. It roared towards the nun in the wilderness.
The nun looked like a helpless target before the charging jeep. She bit her lip, hating the sight of Wei Wei, who seemed relaxed as he drove towards her.
In desperation, she stretched out her hands, unleashing a massive spiritual power. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
The jeep's wheels skidded, as if encountering an invisible resistance, slowly lifting into the air.
The nun's power reached its peak, her eyes turning white.
At this moment between life and death, her demonic power allowed her to exert a strength she had never achieved before. She lifted the jeep, which weighed nearly three to four thousand jin (1,500 to 2,000 kg), into the air.
But her neck wound burst with blood under the intense pressure.
Inside the suspended jeep, Wei Wei expressionlessly raised his gun. The nun's eyes filled with despair, her bitten lips trembling.
Wei Wei gazed calmly at her, then smiled gently.
"Why use even children?" he asked softly. "They just want to grow up..."
The nun's eyes went blank.
Bang!
Wei Wei pulled the trigger, and the nun's spiritual power faltered.
Bang bang bang bang bang bang...
Wei Wei fired shot after shot, the bullets hitting the nun like they were free. The jeep crashed to the ground, and Wei Wei stepped out, reloading his gun to continue firing.
He didn't stop until the nun's body stopped convulsing, and the strange murmurs ceased. The grass stopped swaying, and all was silent except for the occasional tremor from the gunfire.
Demon Transcendents had many tricks, so a few extra shots couldn't hurt. After all, he was just a pitiful Crimson Demon, unlike others with their fancy abilities. Except for killing, he was useless...
