Seven Sins System-Chapter 395. Effortless Forgiveness
Seven Sins System Chapter 395. Effortless Forgiveness
“We were talking about your potato chips,” chimed in the other.
With a swift motion, he snatched the bag of chips from the friend next to him, only to find it disappointingly empty. "Why did you finish them all by yourself?" he complained.
"Oi, just keep moving on! The cops will suspect us if we stop here," warned one of the kidnappers.
“Okay, okay,” the driver responded hastily. He accelerated the van.
The van moved again, the engine humming steadily as it rolled down the road.
I couldn't help but feel a mix of relief and annoyance.
On one hand, I no longer had to struggle to divert my thoughts from the earlier scent.
But on the other hand, I couldn't shake off the frustration of what had just happened.
Defending Puriel, of all people, was a surreal experience, one that I never imagined myself in.
I mean, she was my nemesis, for hell's sake!
Yet there I was, ready to unleash my wrath upon those kidnappers just to protect her. It was ironic, to say the least, but at that moment, I didn't care. I was willing to set aside our differences, only to be met with a cold refusal.
Her rejection of my offer stung.
Here I was, offering to unleash my devilish powers on her behalf, and she simply brushed it off as if it were nothing. It was infuriating.
For her, forgiveness was just… normal. No big deal. But for me? Punishment’s kinda baked into who I am. It’s what I do. As a devil, it’s my job—my thing—to make sure people get what they deserve. But even when I had the perfect chance to dish it out, she stepped in. Shut it down. And there I was, stuck trying to make sense of all these messed-up feelings she left behind.
Where was the logic in all of this? If the mortals could escape their punishment that easily, why did the universe create shadow creatures like me?
But as much as I wanted to dwell on my frustration, I knew that dwelling on it would only serve to worsen my mood.
'Ha! Whatever, I don’t care anymore,' I told myself, trying to shake off the leftover frustration. But the more I thought about it, the more I couldn’t help but wonder—why did I get so worked up so easily, especially when Puriel was around?
It was unlike me to lose my cool so easily, but lately, it seemed like my emotions were more volatile than usual, particularly when she was around.
Was it just some weird coincidence, or was there actually something deeper going on? The whole “fate” thing popped into my head—and yeah, I didn’t really buy into that stuff, but I couldn’t completely rule it out either.
Maybe… just maybe, my feelings toward Puriel were starting to shift in ways I didn’t see coming. Maybe there was more to this whole thing than just the usual tension and rivalry.
The idea kinda freaked me out, not gonna lie. But I couldn’t ignore it. Not anymore.
'Sometimes... I wish we could still be nemesis and stay like that...' I thought. It was a strange sentiment.
I knew myself well enough to recognize my own tendencies towards possessiveness. And despite the clashes and conflicts we'd had, there was a strange comfort.
But the reality was far more complicated. We hailed from two different realms, with its own set of rules and customs.
Our very natures were diametrically opposed—she, a goddess of purity and chastity, and I, a devil steeped in sin and temptation.
It was a recipe for disaster, and yet here we were.
About twenty minutes later, I felt the van start to slow down—subtle, but enough to tell we were getting close. My brain immediately kicked into overdrive, guessing where we might be headed. Some sketchy warehouse on the edge of town? Maybe a creepy underground bunker in the woods? I had no clue, but every scenario I imagined just kept getting darker.
However, as the van came to a stop, my assumptions were swiftly overturned. Instead of a desolate and foreboding location, we found ourselves entering the parking lot of a sleek and modern building. It was the headquarters of a huge company.
I watched as the goons gazed around in awe and disbelief. It was clear that this was their first time too.
