SEX WITH MY BEST FRIEND'S FIANCÉ-Chapter 87 - EIGHTY SEVEN
Chapter 87: Chapter EIGHTY SEVEN
- KILLIAN -
Being away from her when she is just in my reach is one of the hardest thing yet.
I groan. I can’t even speak to her and haven’t for hours. The wait is killing me!!
I stare at my phone situated between both of my hands which rests on my thighs. I feel like flinging this object. I texted Hazel after every hour yet I’ve gotten no response. I don’t even know how it’s going in there and according to Natalie, I can’t go in.
My face hardens. I dare not go in. Natalie is one scary woman. Although she doesn’t look it, she’s old enough to birth two of me. She’s one of the only ones of my mother’s friends that I’m close to. She’s like a second mother.
When my parents died, she took the role as my foster parent. Not legally by law, but more like a favour. That didn’t stop me from being Liam’s sole parent and having servants, but Natalie took care of the books and the household catering till I was old enough to assume that role.
It’s one of the reasons I adore her.
I groan with frustration. "Surely you’re not waiting for the world to end to be done with her!" I huff loudly.
"If you don’t want that to happen, watch your tongue." Natalie replies back. She has this tough love for me. One of the reasons I am the way I am is because of her.
’In a man’s world, a man is meant to be unshakable.’
- Natalie
I sigh. Fashion has always been a bore to me despite my awesome taste in clothes. This one was meant to be intriguing. I don’t know why I thought for a second that I would be able to watch her during the dressing fiasco. "Sorry ma’am." I mutter under my breath.
"That’s better." Natalie’s voice trails through the walls. There is pride and calmness in her tone and that leaves me unsettled. I can’t tell what she’ll do next. "Maybe fetch me some refreshments. It’s quite hectic here and you seem to have a lot of free time on your hands." Natalie says. She wasn’t requesting. She wants me to leave.
I get up from the sofa and stretch my legs. I sat for so long that my muscles cramped. "I might as well do so." I dip my phone in my pocket. "Anything you ladies want specifically?"
I want to hear Hazel speak. Just one word would set my mood straight. "Surprise us Killian." Natalie replies me.
My jaw clenches. I know what she wants to do. "Don’t question her while I’m away. It’s off limits." I say calmly before walking out. The last thing I want is Hazel to be interrogated because of me, especially when she doesn’t know what I am. I’m sure Natalie could already tell, the moment she saw her. Hazel has no strong bone in her body to withstand a physical attack and Natalie is very good with mind games. It becomes a bore once you get accustomed to it, but Hazel isn’t.
I walk out of the café. I’ll get a chocolate shake for Hazel and something stronger for Natalie. What I’m unsure of are the eatable snacks. What could they possibly want that won’t disrupt their activity further? I guess I have enough time to think while I explore this mall.
A buzz in my ears alerts me of a call and I tap my air pods to pick up. The voice that welcomes me has me easing up. No, it’s not Hazel, it’s someone more annoying.
"Miss your oh so charming young version?" Liam asks.
"Can’t believe I’m actually agreeing, but I’ve been bored out of my wits and need a good distraction." I say to Liam. "How are things over there? Screwing up yet?"
I hear a playful chuckle from his end. There’s also music blaring from the background. Typical. "Hurts your soul that I’m not?" I hear a pop. I assume Liam’s chewing bubble gum. "If I do, you’ll be the first to know." He says.
"As much as I want to know why you called, I need the company. So let’s talk."
"When you crave me like this, it makes me want to leave. Unless you’re willing to... let me see, plea further?"
My jaw hardens. "Don’t push it."
A laugh echoes in my ears. "Was worth a shot."
I’m at the section of the mall filled with fast food restaurants and fancy ones. "What is the easiest snack one can eat while playing dress up?" I ask, dipping my hand in my chest pocket. Hazel’s with my credit card, but who says I have just one?
"Depends on how filling you want the person to be. Gender of the said person?"
"Ever seen me run errands for a male before?" I raise my brow and huff. The distress in my voice is obvious.
"I see you’ve met Natalie."
"Bingo."
Liam laughs. "I was with her last week. She did the food buying for me."
Liam visited these parts and didn’t come to see me? That stings. I wasn’t even informed. "If you’ve come to rub it in my face, I’d suggest you cut the call."
"Ease up, brother. I have news."
How do I tell this cunt that I’m pissed he didn’t come to see me! I would have the decency to inform him of my travels if I was indeed close to him. "What are you waiting for? Spit it out."
"Asami’s Back."
Yeah, no shit.
"Her arrival is something you need to be wary of." He continues.
"If you have news other than what I already know, say it."
"Aren’t you the least interested in why she’s here?"
"Go on." I say under my breath. My eyes wander around the restaurant. Is pizza okay? I think other meals will be too much. How about some wraps? Or burger? I really have no idea what they’d want. Snack or an actual meal? I do know Hazel will choose a snack to a meal any day but what about Natalie?
"S knows about Hazel." My body halts for a second. I take a deep breath then exhale gently, gathering my thoughts. As long as Asami is here, that was inevitable. "They hasn’t tried anything cunning but it’ll be safe to assume S has something up Their sleeve considering They was aware of her existence before you two met."
Well that’s new. How could S have known her prior? Unless S thinks I met her first in this state which is not entirely false.
"When did you meet her exactly?" Liam asks.
"The details will leave you scarred." I mutter. Although for someone who watches a lot of porn, I highly doubt it. Knowing my brother’s sex life will leave me scarred. I already have knowledge of it but the details? I’d prefer not to dive into such.
"Anyway, They has had an eye on her for a very long time. It brings me to the question, why? Is there a part of her you don’t know? Or is this entirely coincidental?" S is not interested in normal people. Although he loves to have pawns. My mind drifts to my conversation with Asami. She was intent on Hazel’s name.
I’m starting to wonder why. I sigh. This is something I need to look into. Whatever S has in mind regarding her cannot be good. To think Hazel was never safe from the start is very unsettling.
This brings me to wonder, was our meeting ever coincidental? Or is this just S’ way of playing games with me? Whichever it is, my hands have been forced to dig deeper into her family history.
"Anything else?"
"Asami’s moving sketchy. I can’t decode anything from her end but I’m forced to believe she’s working on her own despite her ally. Something S is not likely unaware of or choosing to overlook."
"You have so much intel about They yet haven’t uncovered They’s identity."
"Certain information is easier to derive than others. Patience Killian. We have so much to do and finding out who S is has been put on pause."
"Do you at least have a gender?"
"That’s not for you to know, brother."
He does and he’s keeping it a secret. Fabulous.
"Well, I guess I should thank you for informing me my lady is a target."
"Not officially, but you’re welcome."
I didn’t say ’thank you’. I stop by a pizza shop and stare at the menu.
"How is it going at your end? Found her yet?"
The killer? No. It’s unsurprisingly harder to do so and it’s killing me. Almost like someone’s trying to make me not to because this is bizarre. "Close." I say to Liam. My attention draws to the staff in front of me. "I’ll have these." I point at a few options on the menu. He proceeds with my order and requests I make payment.
"Soon enough." Liam says.
That I’m aware of. I’m growing impatient yet I’m trying to stay calm.
I tap my card and a soft ding resounds in my ears.
"Thank you for your purchase. Please hold on as we prepare your order." The staff says and walks away. I just noticed that he’s a male. My God, do I have little regards for people?
"Keep me entertained. My order is in queue." I say to Liam. "And please, talk about nothing depressing."
"Everything about us is depressing." I smirk. True. Life hasn’t been quite fair. At least we’re heading somewhere.
I turn my head to the side. The person I sight heading my way immediately ruins my mood. She just happens to be everywhere. That damn woman, Asami.
There’s no escaping a confrontation from her. If I need a distraction from anyone, now will be a good time.
"Killian," Someone calls. It’s Asami. "What a surprise."
An unpleasant one. I lower my gaze to stare at her. In her hands are full shopping bags. My eyes catch a glimpse of what’s inside one of them.
It’s a mask.
"Not quite."
Asami grins. "You’re solely in your head if you think I followed you. It’s a mall, no?" She raises her hand up, flashing her shopping bags. I can’t help but notice the costume inside. I don’t like what I’m seeing.
"I didn’t say anything. Judging yourself already?"
A frown forms on her face. "I won’t let you ruin my mood."
Sadly, I can’t say the same. She already did.
"I’ll see you later Asami." We have a meeting with S coming up.
"Definitely." She utters. There’s that husky tone again. "It’ll be a good refreshment after tonight’s fantasy party."
This piqued my interests but I didn’t ask anything. "I’m sure you’ve heard. Your ’Hazel’ will be there, right?"
This definitely has me on edge.
"Aren’t you too old to play dress up with teens?"
"Aren’t you too old to be dating one?" She shoots back. My jaw clenches. "What can I say, I look elegant and beautiful. Best of all, I was invited." A sly grin forms on her lips.
"Your order will be ready in a minute." Someone says behind me. I turn to him and nod. A short time spent with Asami seemed to have taken quite a while.
"This should be fun." Asami flickers her fingers in front of her face. "Bye, bye." She says and walks away.
Asami is too interested in Hazel for my own good and S has found an interest in her too. I can’t tell her to not go, especially when she’s so excited about it. My hand massages my temples.
Curse the day I made that agreement with S.
