Chapter 1137. Anna

Upon seeing that one of his tentacles had become a part of Fhtagn, the omniscient Charles instantly realized what had happened.

"Well played. Besides the tattoo on my neck, you actually have other tricks up your sleeve. Your level of skill in this chess game is impressive, considering how you don't even have any consciousness. I'm truly impressed.

"However, if you think that you can assimilate me with just that, you're being far too presumptuous. We're not that different."

Charles transmitted that information over to Fhtagn, and every line on his body began to glow faintly. Soon, he found another tentacle with the smallest difference in attributes and appearance from the pitch-black one.

The white tentacle made out of matter, time, and space rotated, wrapping around the pitch-black one.

The two tentacles had clearly distinct colors at first, but as they moved even closer together, some commonalities between the tentacles overlapped.

Completely identical planets, completely identical time, and completely identical human beings. The entangled colors were no longer distinct, becoming a mixture of black and white—gray.

The two lines were almost identical, except for one difference. Gao Zhiming was dead in one of the lines, while he was still alive in the other.

When Charles dragged over the living Gao Zhiming from the other line, he partially regained control over the blackened tentacle that Fhtagn was supposed to have completely assimilated at this point.

Thus, what was supposed to be predetermined was changed.

Anna was standing in the bridge of a ship somewhere on the Indian Ocean. There was a microphone in her hand as she cast her gaze on the Fhtagnists awaiting her orders on the deck.

The Fhtagnists were ready, and the ritual would immediately proceed once Anna gave the green light.

The sacrifices on deck trembled with anxiety and fear in their eyes. It couldn't be helped. Just one word from Anna would decide their fate, after all, and Anna would instantly obtain hundreds of thousands of loyal subordinates.

The plan was to obtain more Fhtagnists by ordering the new Fhtagnists to capture more people. With that plan, her forces would surely expand exponentially. If she were to do that, neither the IMF nor the Foundation would stand a chance against her.

Soon, no one would be able to ambush, suppress, or chase after her. It was a plan that had all the pros but no cons. There was no reason not to employ the plan, but the Fhtagnists had yet to receive any word from Anna.

Anna's heart wavered upon recalling Gao Zhiming's roar and his extremely disappointed gaze. She had no idea why, but she just couldn't do it. She had sacrificed two million people in the Eastern Seas without batting an eye, but now, she couldn't bring herself to sacrifice not even half of those people at the time.

Gao Zhiming and her human body's influence on her were far greater than what Anna had imagined. She struggled for a long time before putting down the microphone in her hand and turning around to head to their room.

There was a knock at the door of their shared room. Gao Zhiming suppressed his sobbing as he opened the door with tears streaming down his face.

Anna cast a mocking gaze at him. After a while, she sounded like she was mocking herself as he said, "I really don't know why you think of me as something beautiful when I'm a man-eating monster.

"Are you blind again? Did you not see my true form?"

Silence descended and lasted for a while. Upon realizing that there weren't any screams outside and Anna wasn't covered in the pungent smell of blood, Gao Zhiming realized something that made him smile.

He was now crying and smiling at the same time. The big sister in his heart had returned. He spread his arms and rushed forward, hugging Anna's legs.

Anna patted his head, and a hint of helplessness appeared on her face.

"I really don't know where you learned to do something so useless, and I never taught you to do any of that. You don't want them to die, but we don't have enough people. We need enough people, or we're probably going to die.

"There's always a better way, and... I'll do everything I can to protect you, Big Sis!" Gao Zhiming exclaimed decisively.

"Tsk, you're still wet behind the ears, so how useful can you be?" Anna replied, clicking her tongue. She then pushed him hard enough to make him stagger backward.

Regardless, Anna knew that the ritual couldn't proceed anymore.

She badly wanted to proceed with the ritual, but as she stared at Gao Zhiming standing in front of her, she realized that she truly couldn't be cruel enough to make the so-called angel in Gao Zhiming's heart become a murderous demon.

Forget it. The world is already so chaotic, so there's no need to get more Fhtagnists. Let's think of another way. After all, my goal is to return to the Subterranean Sea, not to rule the entire world, Anna thought. Then, she took out some tissues and leaned down to clean Gao Zhiming's tear-stricken face.

Just then, Li Lu walked up to them with Tobba in her arms.

Tobba saw everything unfold in the distance, and he couldn't help but express his amazement. "Great, you've already changed your mind? You're so whimsical, just like a kid."

Tobba attempted to squeeze himself out of Li Lu's arms, but he realized that he couldn't move at all. When he blinked, he found himself staring at the ceiling. He had somehow become a corpse sprawled out on the ground, and his body was growing cold fast.

He had died many times before, so he knew that this scene wouldn't last long.

"This is the first time I've seen something like this. An overlap of two worlds? How interesting."

Just then, Anna stood up and cast a furious gaze at Gao Zhiming's headless corpse.

"Do you really think that dying will solve everything? Dream on! You may have died, but I can still bring you back!!" Anna roared. Her sorrowful gaze gradually became cold and fanatical. At this moment, she became a true Dioite.

Anna stomped hard on the ground, and her figure vibrating at a high frequency shot upward. She phased through the roof and arrived at the blood-soaked deck.

Her hundreds of thousands of loyal subordinates had been waiting for her outside.

"Brothers and sisters! The great God Fhtagn has bestowed upon me an oracle!" Anna's voice echoed from the speakers of every nearby ship. "The almighty Great One wants to test us! He wants to know if we are indeed loyal to Him!

"To prove our loyalty to the Great One, we can only do one thing! We ought to sacrifice the seven billion human beings on the surface world! We must sacrifice them to the Great One!!"

"My goodness! What is she trying to do?!" Tobba exclaimed in horror. Then, he realized that he was staring at a cause and effect that he had never seen before.

"Darling, what are you talking about?"

Li Lu's words brought Tobba back to his senses. He finally realized that he hadn't gone anywhere. He hadn't become a corpse; he was still in his mother's embrace, and Anna was still there, speaking quietly with Gao Zhiming.

Tobba frowned deeply and scratched his head, which barely had any hair.

Once everything was settled, Anna held Gao Zhiming's hand and walked away.

Li Lu nervously came to her side and asked, "Anna, what are we going to do about the people outside?"

"What else can we do about them? We're going to return them, of course. What? Do you really expect me to fulfill the basic needs of so many people?"

Li Lu breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that. She really thought that Anna was going to sacrifice all these people for her cause.

"Stop the nonsense and pick up the pace. This commotion must have already attracted the IMF's attention, so we need to leave as soon as possible."
