Sigil Online: I became the duke's third son-Chapter 12 -
Chapter 12: Chapter 12
"I cannot answer that, my lord; you'll have to wait for the madam to tell you personally," Kian respectfully said.
Luan just sighed. "Makes sense. Fine, I'll just not worry about it anymore," he lazily stated, looking at the golden key he was holding.
A grin spread across his face. "Tell Ava to stop somewhere near the capital's outskirts, but hidden by the forest. I don't want any unwanted visitors." Without waiting for a reply, he stood up.
"And don't bother me until I come out of my room again." Turning toward Luciano, he continued, "You guard the door; don't let anyone enter."
Luciano didn't say a word. He followed closely behind Luan, stopping at his room's door and turning around, stepping in front of it.
Inside the room, Luan stared at the large chest that stood there, looking from the key to the chest. After repeating that a couple of times, he sighed, steeled his nerves, and inserted the key into the keyhole. Slowly twisting the key, his heart raced, and his breath quickened with every turn. His fingers trembled slightly as he held the key, anticipation building with every moment.
Then the lock fell off the chest, but Luan didn't immediately open it; he just stared at it. He stood frozen, staring at the chest.
'Be grateful for any amount of money you get... and anything else they might have given,' he mused.
"But I would really like a good starting capital for my business, even though I haven't thought about what business it's going to be," he mumbled and said one last prayer.
He finally, slowly lifted the top of the chest, and what he saw left him speechless. His breath caught in his throat as he looked at the vast pile of gold, the weight of it sinking in.
'This... this is beyond anything I imagined.'
Just sitting there in front of the chest, staring at the huge amount of gold for a while, he then jumped up, thrusting his arm in the air.
"I never doubted you, Mother, and you, Father. I knew you wouldn't disappoint me."
After doing a small victory dance, he took a closer look to see if they had left a note or something detailing the amount of gold and any other things in the chest.
After searching through the chest for a while, he finally found it—a letter. Slowly opening it, he read it while falling onto his bed.
---
"Luan,
We trust you're not getting into too much trouble! We've decided to send you some funds to help you get started—three thousand five hundred gold coins, one hundred silver coins, one hundred bronze coins, and one hundred copper coins for any expenses you might have or anything you want to try out.
But that's not all. At the bottom of the chest, you'll find a world map, five high-quality swords and daggers to keep you safe, and a ring to show that you're part of the Meskevela family. Don't go using it recklessly, okay?
**P.S.:** Your father and I are heading back to the Meskevela territory, so make sure you send any letters to our estate there; otherwise, we won't get them.
Take care of yourself.
Love,
Mom & Dad."
---
"They really went all out, huh?" Luan muttered under his breath, staring at the letter with wide eyes. "This is a crazy amount of money. Still, for what I have in mind, I'll probably need even more."
He paused, taking a moment to let the realization sink in. A grin spread across his face. "But for now, this will help tremendously."

He stood up, his excitement building. "Luciano! Go and get Clover, Lily, and Kian. Bring them here. I need you all to help with something."
"Understood, my lord. I will be right back," Luciano replied as he left to get the others.
Luan lay down again on his bed, waiting for Luciano and the others to arrive.
After a while, they all stood in front of him. Kian remained composed, not even sparing the chest a glance as he stood with perfect posture, waiting patiently for Luan to speak.
The other three, however, weren't as disciplined yet.
Luciano tried to maintain his composure, but his fingers twitched slightly at his sides. Clover's green eyes flickered toward the chest before she quickly looked away, pretending she hadn't just done so.
Lily, the youngest of the group, clenched her hands together as if afraid she might reach out and touch the gold if she wasn't careful.
Luan sighed. He had expected this much. They weren't used to such wealth few commoners were.
"Stand properly. Our lord called you here for a reason, so act like it. It's just gold. If you do your work properly, you will see many more things that will surprise you, but you always have to be on your best behavior. As our lord's personal servants, we have to uphold his image," Kian sternly said, positioning himself between the other three servants and the chest.
Luciano sighed and put aside his curiosity. He did not want to lose his job, and if what Kian said was true, getting chosen as a personal servant by Luan might be a huge opportunity.
Clover, the green-haired maid, straightened her back almost too quickly, her white apron shifting slightly as she adjusted her stance. Her emerald eyes flickered toward the gold once more before she forced herself to focus on Luan.
Beside her, Lily, the younger blonde-haired maid, looked like she was trying her hardest not to fidget. Her black eyes darted to Kian for reassurance before locking on the floor, her fingers curling into the fabric of her uniform.
"Thanks, Kian. And you three, one time is fine, but I don't want to see that happening a second time. I will have Kian educate you all, together with the others, on manners and how to act in public," he sternly declared.
Then, with a sigh, he propped his head up, leaning on his hand. "But I'll cut you all some slack since you were selected only yesterday. And we're the only ones here. So try to get used to it as fast as possible."
The three nodded vigorously, etching his words in their hearts. None of them wanted to lose this job.
"What did you call us for, my lord?" Kian interjected, trying to change the topic.
