Chapter 14: Chapter 14

He sat down, his back facing the carriage. He was trying to get the sigil to heat up again to see if maybe that would do anything.

Fully concentrated, Luan focused on activating his sigil, while Vira floated around him, curiously observing his efforts.

She could only communicate by making Luan feel her emotions through their telepathic link that was established when she was born. But she wanted to let him know that she could be useful as well.

So she started sending all types of feelings to Luan; she could see his face scrunch up, but he kept his eyes closed and completely ignored her.

Vira's frustration mounted as she floated around Luan's head in circles, her movements growing more erratic. She tried everything, dancing in his line of sight, brushing against his face, but he didn't budge.

But nothing worked. Luan kept his eyes closed, focusing solely on trying to activate his sigil; Vira's constant barrage of emotions—joy, impatience, excitement—made it nearly impossible for Luan to focus. Every surge of feeling was like a jolt in his mind, throwing off his concentration.

Luan's mind raced with irritation, but he forced himself to ignore Vira. 'She'll stop eventually. Like last time,' he thought, keeping his eyes shut as he waited for her to tire out.

But after what felt like minutes of this, he couldn't handle it anymore. Opening his eyes, he glared at Vira.

"What is your problem!" he shouted.

Vira also stopped floating around him and looked Luan dead in the eyes. Then Luan felt the happy, bubbly feeling again.

"Why are you happy now? I was focusing on something important, but no, you couldn't wait, could you? You just had to get my attention." Luan said, rolling his eyes.

After saying that he felt, he patted Vira a couple of times on the head. "Sorry, I didn't mean it. On another note, why did you want my attention? Even disturbing me." He inquired, curious why her behavior changed so drastically.

Without waiting, Vira flew straight at Luan, entering his body.

Luan sat there stunned; he stared at his chest. "Did she just fly into me?" he muttered, not knowing what would happen or why she did that.

Then he felt something electrifying; his mind became clearer, and he was full of energy suddenly. As if Vira was a missing part of his body.

Jumping up, he started running around the carriage; he had too much energy; he couldn't sit still, or he felt like he might just explode.

"What the hell is going on?" he said, still running circles around the carriage. "Can Vira merge with me to give me a physical boost?"

After saying that, Luan felt the warm, bubbly sensation once more. "Is that you saying I'm correct?" he asked, and he felt the bubbly sensation again.

"Must be it. So how long do you think I'll have to keep running around like this?" After saying that, he realized something.

"You can't reply, Whoops, let me rephrase that. Do you think the running will be done in under thirty minutes?" Waiting for Vira's answer, he looked around; he saw the servants in the carriage staring at him through the window.

Some of the servants were clearly trying not to laugh, and Luan couldn't help but feel a bit ridiculous, but it didn't stop him from running.

Luan just sighed, 'Well, it does look kinda ridiculous,' then he felt the bubbly sensation again.

"Alright, guess I'll keep running until this feeling fades, then," he stated, focusing solely on running as fast as he could to make it end faster.

After what felt like forever, Luan finally felt the feeling fade. And when it was completely gone, Vira popped right out of his body. And when she did, he felt all the exhaustion hit him at once.

His muscles screamed in protest, his breath coming in ragged gasps, and he barely had time to process what had just happened before his body gave out, sending him crashing to the ground.

It took everything he had to roll around and lie on his back; he stared at Vira. An exaggerated sigh escaped from his mouth.

"You could've warned me about this beforehand Vira, well I maybe should've expected it after running for that long." Turning his head toward the carriage, he saw Kian standing there in front of the door.

Luan turned his head, his eyes widening slightly in realization. He stared at Kian, the exhaustion in his features now mixed with a hint of embarrassment. A quick glance at Vira, then back at Kian, and his voice was edged with a hint of self-deprecating humor. "Did you see?"

"Yes, I saw everything, my lord," he replied, without missing a beat.

Luan exhaled sharply, his lips vibrating with the force of the breath, a mixture of frustration and exhaustion escaping him in one long, annoyed sigh.

"Not a word of this to anyone ever," he ordered. "Understood, Kian?"

"Yes, my lord. We finished the task you gave us. What do you want us to do next?" Kian respectfully asked, not showing a single reaction to what had just transpired.

Luan propped himself up against a nearby tree, leaning against it with his back. Regaining his composure, he thought for a moment. "Teach Luciano and Kafele combat techniques with a sword or dagger and let them practice using their sigils. Same for the maids, but less focus on combat and more on self-defense for them."

Kian nodded, entering the carriage again.

Luan looked at the door for a while before turning back to Vira. "Was that one of your abilities?" he asked. Immediately after that, he felt the warm, bubbly feeling again.

"So it was, huh? Is this the only ability you have currently?" He followed up with, trying to figure Vira out. At first he thought it was completely useless right now and needed time to grow, but it seemed she wasn't as simple as that.

Then he felt an uncomfortable sensation run through his entire body. "So you have more than a single ability. Let's test the other abilities out another time, ok?" After saying that, he closed his eyes.
