SIGNING IN: BEING SHOWERED BY HEAVENLY BLESSINGS FOR FIVE YEARS-Chapter 559 - 557: MEETING WITH THE LAWYER
Chapter 559: Chapter 557: MEETING WITH THE LAWYER
Meanwhile, on Ruby’s side. When Diamond was busy dealing with meetings, she was busy with something else completely during the day.
When lunch was nearing, she received a message from the lawyer that Kiara had referred to her.
They had made an appointment to meet at lunch.
There were several restaurants close to the university.
Once the bell rang, signifying the end of the lecture, Ruby hurriedly packed her belongings, ready to leave.
As she was packing, she caught the attention of her few friends in class.
"Ruby, do you have an emergency?" one of them asked.
Ruby shook and nodded her head, confusing the friends in return. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"You ...."
Seeing what she had done, Ruby burst into a peal of laughter and answered, "It’s not exactly an emergency. I made an appointment with someone," revealing a bit of the truth.
When the friends heard that, they looked at her with a knowing gaze, making Ruby chuckle helplessly as she zipped her bag.
"I will see you later in the next class. I have to go!" she said, her tone sounding urgent and without waiting for her friends to respond, she dashed out of the hall.
Seeing her like that, they looked at each other, curiosity visible in their eyes.
"What kind of appointment do you think she has?"
"It can’t be her sister, right?"
"Impossible!"
"Anyway, what does it matter? Let’s go and eat. I am starving."
Ruby had no idea of what her friends were saying. All she could think about was meeting with the lawyer.
On her way to the restaurant, she met a few students who called out to her, and she responded warmly to them, though she didn’t bother to stop and entertain them.
As for what they thought, what did it have to do with her?
Thankfully, the restaurant was very near and with a car; it didn’t take that long.
When she arrived, Ruby looked around the restaurant, which was half full, and quickly found the person that she was looking for.
When she saw him, a smile appeared on her face as she thought to herself, ’What a handsome man!’
Just like Diamond, she was a sucker for people with beautiful and handsome faces. Who didn’t like seeing pleasing things or people?
After spotting the person that she wanted, Ruby walked calmly towards the table. The lawyer was occupying the table by himself, which was good.
When he spotted her, he froze for a bit. Despite having seen her photo several times, seeing the person in person was different. He couldn’t help but be taken aback by her beauty.
’The family is blessed with beautiful girls!’ he couldn’t help but praise inwardly as he thought of Diamond and Garnet, the Perry sisters.
He rose to his feet to welcome her, with a polite smile on his face. He didn’t dare show an extravagant reaction that wouldn’t dwell well with his profession.
Ruby’s eyes squinted as she scanned the lawyer from head to toe as she approached him.
Once they were close to each other, the lawyer’s voice, which suited his face, sounded in her ears, "Hello, Ms. Ruby," as he greeted her while stretching his hand towards her.
Hearing such a voice, Ruby’s liking for the lawyer increased without him doing anything.
"Hello, Mr. Gary. Thank you for meeting me," she responded as she stretched her hand towards him for a handshake.
The two hands met and a brief shake was done before the hands separated.
Gary, being a gentleman, pulled the chair for Ruby and the other was quite touched by that.
When had she received such a treatment?
She didn’t remember.
When the two of them got seated, the menu was brought over, and they ordered food before sending the waitress away.
When the waitress left, the two started engaging in serious business.
"Ms. Ruby, I have heard from Ms. Kiara about what you need. If you don’t, how about I explain to you the situation that you will be facing once you take on this path?" without wasting time, Gary went straight to the point.
Ruby nodded, finding him very professional. He didn’t beat around the bush or try to flatter her. Being professional was good for her, especially when she didn’t have time to waste like now.
Seeing her approval, Gary didn’t waste time but took out the documents that he had prepared and gave them to Ruby.
Ruby accepted them and began to look through them as Gary explained to her about all the legal issues which were related to the business that she was about to venture into.
The more Ruby read and listened to Gary speaking, the more she realized that having people who were knowledgeable about the matters was very important.
With the right approach, it was possible to get the money needed and at the same time ensure the protection of the business.
Inverting this statement, Ruby saw that it was possible to lose everything by making a wrong step.
She might invest in Kelly’s business, but if it’s not protected, or she hasn’t protected herself, then losing that investment was possible.
That was where contracts came in. With a contract, she could ensure her investment no matter what happens in the end.
It was easy for people to change their minds.
When investing, in case herself, since she would be investing individually, it was a must for her to look into the risk of investing.
Risking money that she couldn’t afford to lose would be too much for her. Thankfully, she didn’t have that problem yet. Likewise, it didn’t mean that her money could be lost just because she had it.
It wasn’t easy to earn the money she had now.
So, looking into the company that she wanted to invest in would be suggested. That way, she would know whether it was a good idea or bad to invest. In her case, more information was needed about Kelly.
Although she trusts her, this is money, and a lot of it is involved. They needed to be sure.
And lastly, once everything was checked, it was a must to draw a contract. That way, they would clearly state the rights and responsibilities of each party.
In her case, she would be investing the capital while Kelly would be in charge of designing and producing the clothes.
As for sales channels, that would be a separate matter.
Returning to the issue of investment, Ruby was baffled when she learnt that there were several types of investments. Equity, debt or hybrid.
For debt investment, she would invest in Kelly’s business by purchasing a large amount of debt or giving funds to Kelly with the expectation of being paid back plus interest.
For equity investment, she would invest in Kelly’s business but purchase shares, making her part of the shareholders. That means that she would be entitled to dividends in the long run once the company starts doing business.
Lastly, the hybrid investment. The combination of both debt and equity.
Despite being a business management major, she knew nothing about this. That couldn’t be helped. She was still a freshman and her syllabus didn’t cover that yet.
Thankfully, Gary, being a lawyer, understood this as well.
So now the problem comes, what kind of investment was good for her?
That was a question she spent the rest of her day asking herself until she returned home and met Diamond.
One of the few people who could help straighten out her thoughts.
