Chapter 250: The 1%

After the chaos had subsided, Leo had begun to experiment with his new form and comparing it with the other ones.

Penny had taken most of the loot and had retreated to under a nearby tree, focused entirely on crafting.

Greg had taken to shadowboxing a few dozen feet away from Penny, giving him enough space to practice while at the same time giving him enough time to rush to Penny’s aid should the need to arise.

Aria had taken to the sky’s and was humming a tune as she practiced the dance Grandma Sky had taught her.

Crystal had none of those things, instead she knelt down and turned her focus inward, focusing on her own body and more specifically, her eyes.

’Eis. How much longer do I have to wear this blindfold? Will I ever be able use my eyes normally again anytime soon?’

The Dragon God within stirred at her words but not with the answer she sought.

’Why do you call me Eis? Was my name not Eisvir? How could you forget it so soon when it was you yourself that named me?’

A wry smile tugged at Crystal’s lips.

It’s a nickname. Something you do with friends. It’s more casual way of addressing someone.

Crystal felt Eisvirs curiousity swelling as it asked yet another question.

’Friends? We are...friends?’

’Yes we are. You’re helping me and I am helping you. That’s what friends do’.

’I see....A curious notion that is...’

Eisvir’s voice echoed gently within her, quieter than usual. There was no judgment in it. Just a faint trace of something else. Something not quite there.

’Friends... The word stirs something. I do not know what it is. It came quickly... and it is gone.’

Crystal kept still, her fingers resting lightly against her knees. She focused on her breathing as she spoke.

’That’s what feelings are like, sometimes. Just a flicker. But even if it’s gone, it still mattered. You felt something.’

Eisvir went silent. When it spoke again, it’s voice was slightly softer.

’Thank you for answering my curiousity. It is now my time to answer yours. As it stands, you will remain incapable of withstanding the Draconic might of your eyes until you have refined and converted more of your body into that of a Dragons.’

Crystal frowned at the words but then let out a sigh of resignation. The chance of Eisvir being wrong about this was so small, that she thought it was pretty much impossible.

’How much more do I need to convert? Or should I say what should I refine?’

A moment of silence followed as Eisvir ruminated on the new question.

Eisvir’s voice was calm, but there was a note of weight to it now.

Your bones. And the marrow within them. They are still human. Still fragile. Until they are remade, your eyes shall be a threat even to you. The burden of draconic sight would shatter you if overused.’

Crystal exhaled quietly. Of course it wasn’t going to be easy.

’So how do I do it? What do I need to change, or find?’

’Time. Battle. Growth. You must shed the softness of your old self. Your body must be reforged through experience and pressure. When the blood has saturated your marrow, that is when the transformation shall begin.’

Crystal let the silence stretch, her jaw tightening. The wind moved gently around her, brushing against her skin like a reminder that the world still turned.

’So be it. If that is what I need to do, I will do it.’

’Your will is strong. One can only hope your body can match it’

As Crystal talked with the Dragon God within her mind, Leo had finally realized the differences in the 3 forms he currently had.

His base form was an allrounder type that had no glaring weaknesses but nothing that was overly strong.

His beast form was strong and fast but something felt off. The trade off for his speed and power was that his defence, especially against magic took a severe hit.

While his poison form gave him dexterity and a form of healing as well as magic damage through the use of his guns, his defense and physical abilities were shot.

He felt there was something else about the Poison form but through his own little trial and error session, he couldn’t figure out what it was.

He blinked as the notifications continued to scroll across his vision, each one confirming what he had only theorized until now. His skill didn’t just create weapons. It consumed traits. It converted essence.

Leo flexed his fingers, glancing down at his arms. There was no physical change yet, but he could feel it. His skin was denser. His pulse steadier. There was a heaviness in his limbs, not sluggish, but solid. Like he had been reinforced from within.

So that was how it worked. The more material he fed into Invocation of Evolution, the more his own body adapted alongside the weapons it created. It was almost primal. Absorb. Transform. Advance.

He opened his menu and realized there was a new section: Weapon Forms.

Opening it, he saw that it was a massive list with a hundreds if not thousands of question marks. At the top of the screen was a percentage: 1% unlocked.

His fingers hovered over the screen, restless but hesitant. The potential was staggering. So many weapons waiting to be revealed, waiting to be forged from materials he had yet to gather, experiences he had yet to survive.

He took a deep breath and flexed his fingers again, feeling the denser strength in his arms. This wasn’t just about making weapons. It was about evolving himself, step by step, weapon by weapon, form by form.

One percent unlocked was a beginning. It meant there was a long road ahead, but also a promise. A promise that every scrap, every fight, every drop of blood and sweat would inch him closer to unlocking that hidden power.

His curiousity only grew. He didn’t know why but he wanted to see it through till the end.
