Special Forces Medic-Chapter 791 - 758: Poisoned Fangs
"Are you an idiot?" Mu Rongyun whispered, and Xiao Lin glanced back at him with a smile before stepping toward the woman at the door.
Hearing the noise behind her, the woman shrank to one side of the door, tearfully watching Xiao Lin's approach, shaking her head and making short, pleading sounds with her mouth, which he could hear clearly as he got closer.
"No, don't kill me!" The woman repeatedly uttered the same sentence, her eyes sometimes filled with grievance, fear, and sometimes a vacant stare.
Xiao Lin was very close to her, stopping almost in front of her, looking down at the woman crouched on the ground. "Ye Zi!" Xiao Lin called the woman's name.
The woman lifted her head, her bewildered eyes telling Xiao Lin she was confused by the name. "No, don't kill me!" Still the same words, she dropped her bag, hugged her head, and crouched there. For quite a while, she didn't move, and neither did Xiao Lin.
Feeling the woman's rapid breathing, Xiao Lin reached out his hand.
"Ah!" The woman suddenly screamed and shoved at Xiao Lin to stop him from getting closer. Only Xiao Lin knew how strong she was. Her sudden frenzy prompted Xiao Lin to go forward and grab her wrists, dragging her back to the edge of the sofa, with Mu Rongyun also stepping forward to restrain the frantic woman.
Her eyes filled with bloodshot veins, the woman's change aroused Xiao Lin's suspicion. While holding her shoulders, the woman was still thrashing on the sofa. Mu Rongyun swung a punch at her head, expecting her to pass out, but unexpectedly, it further provoked her resistance. She forcefully pushed with her legs, using the sofa's springs to propel her upper body upward.
Her shoulders locked by Xiao Lin's hands, the woman opened her mouth and bit at Xiao Lin's neck. Xiao Lin hadn't expected such an extreme act from her and was caught off guard.
"Ugh!" The feeling of teeth breaking skin was unpleasant. Xiao Lin flung the woman off, but her legs tightly wrapped around his waist muscles, her teeth clamped on his neck's flesh, refusing to release.
Was she sucking blood? Xiao Lin grabbed the woman's hair, tugging it down. Fighting with a woman was always troublesome, and as a gentleman, Xiao Lin was reluctant to engage physically.
"Ugh!" The woman screamed in pain, releasing Xiao Lin and jumping aside, squatting on the ground like a frog, watching the two in front of her.
Xiao Lin touched the bitten area with one hand, feeling the sticky sensation that made him look down at the substance on his palm.
Blood! But not red blood.
"Her teeth are poisoned!" Mu Rongyun exclaimed upon seeing Xiao Lin's outstretched palm covered in black blood.
The woman jumped back, her bloodshot eyes emitting a bloodthirsty gleam, her tongue licking the blood stuck to her lips, looking still unsatisfied, as she turned and jumped out the balcony window.
"Fainted!" This was the tenth floor; jumping out like that would be deadly. Xiao Lin shouted, already darting to the balcony, watching the woman's figure fall, then hearing a clang, as the woman had entered a flat below.
"Escaped?" Mu Rongyun also leaned over the balcony to look down.
"Yes!"
"Let me see your wound." Now that the person was gone, the tension eased. "There should be a first aid kit or something here." Mu Rongyun muttered, recalling having seen a green first aid box, the button resembling a red cross.
"This little wound won't matter, it will filter out soon." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
"Filter? What do you mean? You're poisoned!" He had never heard anyone describe signs of poisoning as filtering.
Xiao Lin laughed dryly at him, grabbing tissues from a box on the table to wipe away the stained blood on his neck. "The blood still coming out is black, but it'll clear soon."
Unconvinced by his words, Mu Rong came closer. Fresh blood started to ooze from the bitten wound, with black blood staying on the skin as Xiao Lin applied tissue paper on it, keeping it there until sensing the moisture before removing it and showing it to Mu Rongyun.
By the black blood's edge was now the vibrant red of fresh blood. "How is this possible?" The medically knowledgeable widened his eyes, unconvinced as he wiped the black-stained skin. From Xiao Lin's tissues, no more black emerged, replaced by red blood, evident right in front of them. Though hard to believe, it was a fact; his poison was indeed filtered out as he claimed.
"This is what Fourth Master wants."
"So that's why she'd stop at nothing to get you?" They both spoke their thoughts simultaneously, Xiao Lin nodding, unable to explain Fourth Master's obsession.
"Don't you know why? You and they once..."
"We never worked together, even if there was joint research on reagents, it was during my studies. She brought half-completed reagents to my lab, handing over the molecular equation formulas, and I continued in my field," explained Mu Rongyun about his past cooperative research with Fourth Master. Despite working on the same matter in different cities, they had never met. "At that time, I always regarded him as a man, never thinking from phone conversations that she was a woman."
"Ah!" Xiao Lin nodded in understanding. Indeed, just by voice, it was hard to associate this person with Angel.
"You've been living in the United States!" When Xiao Lin said this, he couldn't help but chuckle, having always been so close.
Mu Rongyun opened the medicine chest, performing a simple treatment on Xiao Lin's wound to stop the bleeding. Xiao Lin's coagulation was very high, and his blood emitted a faint fragrance, like medicinal herbs, reminiscent of the poisonous grasses he once concocted.
"Instead of worrying about me, you should focus on that woman first." Mu Rongyun put the bloody cotton into the trash bin. Without any doubt, this person must have ties to Fourth Master; only a monster could make another monster.
"Is Fourth Master still in the northern district?" Xiao Lin asked casually.
"Yes, most dangerous places are safest."
"Got it!" Xiao Lin suddenly laughed like a child. "I think I won't need fifteen days to finish this." He picked up the garbage bag, his mind already set. Soon, without any surprise, Yao Zheng would reveal his true colors! (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, please visit Qidian (qidian.com) for recommendations and monthly tickets.
