Chapter 28: Lexie Corazon Baltazar

This was part of the reason why she had always tried to act amicably toward her classmates that approached her.

Anyone who tried to get close, no matter their gender, was a suspect in her eyes.

Out of all her classmates, Desther was the only one who did not try, even for once, to try and get close to her and even actively avoided her at all costs.

She had observed and studied the behavior of her classmates before.

Out of all of them, Desther was the only one who seemed to ignore her; no, he was the only one that actively ignored everyone else.

Even their teacher would only receive a word or two from him; her other classmates only received some simple nod, and he would then get back to whatever he was doing with his phone during their free time.

He likes to wear hoodies and long pants, as if he were concealing something.

At first, Lexie thought that he was the assassin assigned to kill her.

However, as the month went by and she continued to observe, she finally concluded that there was no way it could be him due to his behavior.

Doesn’t want to stand out, doesn’t want to be disturbed, and most of all actively tries to avoid everyone else.

Although this kind of behavior was suspicious, she still concluded that it was not him.

After she reached this conclusion, the day of the awakening ceremony swiftly came.

On the same day, her senses practically screamed danger, allowing her to guess that there was a high chance she would be targeted and killed that day.

So she decided to approach Desther and ask for some help.

However, she did not expect him to actually run off without her being able to say anything at all.

When Teacher Rosa confiscated Noah’s gun, she actually suspected that he was the assassin sent to kill her. And for a second, she did not believe that he would be the only one.

With no one to rely on, and Desther being the only person she labeled as ’safe,’ she decided to exchange places with the girl in front of her and asked for help in that manner.

Fortunately, her words paid off, and she was able to meet him and get his help in the end.

For that, she was extremely grateful to Desther and hence has always been considering how to repay him.

It’s just that this dude was too elusive; she could not find any opportunity to talk to him at all.

And considering him, what she was doing might be to his satisfaction as well. Thinking of that, she did not try to approach him anymore and just focused on improving and familiarizing herself with the skill that came with her talent.

[ Tempest Sovereign ]

[ Grade: S ]

[ Details: You are the embodiment of tempest and speed. ]

She was the only one who knew that her talent was actually not B-Grade, but instead an S.

She knew her own potential the most, and with someone targeting her, revealing too much would not be a good thing.

Using Desther as an example, she decided to play it off and only revealed a portion of her talent and its details.

This talent of hers also came with one passive skill and two active skills, but she only mentioned one skill.

She will quietly grow stronger, and once strong enough, it will not be too late for revenge.

’I, Lexie Corazon Baltazar, will have my revenge!’

...

A few moments after Lexie left, the trio heard a commotion ahead of them.

That was the direction the track led to and where Lexie went to lure the goblins.

Realizing that she was close, the three of them immediately prepared themselves.

Desther looked at the two in front and nodded his head upon noticing that they still had their composure.

Noah released the safety pin of his glock while Elena looked forward with her staff held tightly between her two hands.

A moment later, the three of them saw Lexie running over with two green monsters behind her.

"Be careful, there are three of them, all with wooden daggers as their weapon."

Lexie shouted upon seeing them in position.

Goblins were low-level monsters with low intelligence, so she was not worried that they would be able to understand her words.

Seeing that she was almost in range, Lexie decided to use her skill to make a full sprint forward.

...

Desther looked ahead and saw Lexie becoming a blur in his eyes. The next thing he noticed, Lexie was already a few steps beside him.

He took a quick glance at her from the corner of his eyes and thought, ’Yeah. There’s no way that’s a B-Grade Talent.’

In fact, Desther had already suspected that she was lying regarding her talent’s grade before. After all, he had seen her take action firsthand, and even with an increased attribute, he could still not follow her movements at all.

Every time, he would only see a blur before his vision would shift toward another location where she would ’appear’ all of a sudden.

A speedster talent like this was truly powerful and enigmatic.

From Desther’s estimate, her talent should at the very least be an A-Grade. And that was with him being pessimistic about it.

Ignoring her presence, Desther focused his attention forward, planning to use his remaining Theft Mark to mark one of the goblins and steal some of their attributes.

The goblins were small monsters around the height of his thigh. They looked like a human kid but with the exception of their long pointy ears, sharp teeth, and green skin.

One thing he took note of was their tendency to hunch their backs while they were at rest.

At this moment, they were screaming frantically while waving their wooden daggers as they tried to chase Lexie.

When Lexie disappeared out of their view, they became confused but soon regained their senses when they saw Lexie appearing dozens of meters away.

However, before they could approach her, Noah suddenly came out of the tree and pulled the trigger of his glock.

BANG!
