Chapter 31: Magic Bullet

Noah felt the pain pierce through his heart. He could not help but grab his chest comically while looking at Desther and Elena, as if searching for a comrade in arms.

Desther turned around without hesitation. While Elena also acted as if nothing had happened.

Some things were just better left unsaid.

Their actions, though, were even more painful than hearing their harsh words.

In the end, Noah could only sigh as he went into his assigned position. This time, he decided to stash his gun away. Deep inside, he vowed to triple his shooting practice once back home.

...

A few moments later, the familiar commotion resounded ahead of them, indicating that Lexie and the lured goblins were just a few moments from appearing.

When Lexie appeared in their vision, there were also two goblins following closely behind her.

"Two goblins. Still using wooden daggers. Proceed as planned," Lexie shouted as she passed by Noah.

Noah did not waste time and immediately charged out. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

Using his shield, he dashed forward and slammed the first goblin that he saw with all his might.

BAM!

With his strength, the goblin was pushed back a few meters.

"It worked!" he exclaimed in delight upon seeing the result of that charge.

It was actually Desther’s suggestion that led him to do it that way. It was also supported by Lexie, and as planned, that would be his first attack the moment the goblin was in his range.

Surprisingly enough, it actually worked as Desther and Lexie had planned.

Seeing his successful attack, Elena also came out of her hiding spot and targeted the goblin that was pushed back by Noah.

Noah ignored that goblin as he immediately raised his shield to block an attack from the other goblin.

As planned, Desther did not sit idle in the back as well.

Since this was supposed to be his first kill, Lexie instructed Desther to be proactive in attacking in this round.

This would be to his liking as well. He had already planned to use [Magic Bullet] and train it to increase its proficiency anyway.

With that being said, Desther charged forward with considerable speed and targeted the goblin attacking Noah’s shield.

The moment he was three meters away from the target, Desther suddenly stopped.

At the same moment he cast Theft Mark and Attribute theft, Desther reached out with his hand and snapped his finger as loud and as conspicuously as he could.

Snap!

Right above his snapped fingers, a finger-sized block of bullet made of mana materialized out of thin air.

It was colorless and almost looked transparent. If not for the vague outline of the shape of a bullet’s head, saying that it was invisible would not be an exaggeration.

Without wasting any time, Desther looked toward the target and willed the Magic Bullet to shoot forward.

The next instant, the bullet immediately shot toward the goblin without warning and with great precision.

There was no explosion when the bullet materialized, and there was no explosion when it shot out toward the goblin.

However, as silent as it was, that was how dangerous and lethal the skill was as well.

The bullet made of mana, only the size of a finger, landed on the goblin’s head with great precision.

POOOF!

The goblin’s head exploded like a watermelon shot by a high-caliber gun.

Shoot a bullet made of mana dealing high magic damage toward a target.

That was the description of the skill Magic Bullet that Desther got as a reward from the mission.

When he first used the skill, even Desther himself was astounded by its lethality.

Although it could not compare to his .357 revolver yet, this skill allowed him a lot more versatility than when he was using the gun.

Not to mention, using this skill meant that he doesn’t have to buy ammunition.

As long as he has stamina and the mana required to cast the skill, it could be considered that he would have an unlimited amount of ammunition from now on.

Speaking of ammunition and mana, Desther reckoned that as of this moment, he only has enough mana to cast the skill ten times in a row.

Stamina and Mana were two formless things that were vital to any Awakened Professional.

Although not necessarily quantified by the world system, any Awakened Professional would be able to feel and measure their own mana the moment they use a skill that requires it.

For example, the moment Desther used the skill Magic Bullet, he felt some sort of energy leaving his body to form the skill at his fingertips.

It felt mysterious and seemed like just an imagination, but Desther and any other Awakened Professional knew that this was mana leaving their body to form the skill that they wanted.

The moment this mana left his body to form the skill, Desther also instinctively knew that he would only be able to cast the skill Magic Bullet nine more times.

However, the more his mastery with the skill increases, the more he will be able to utilize it more as well.

Once his mastery with it increases, it will be easier for him to use the skill. An increase in mastery also meant increased damage and low mana consumption for each and every use.

Each person also has different amounts of mana.

However, according to the experts, if stamina were associated with the Vitality Attribute, then mana would be directly related to the Intelligence Attribute.

The higher the Intelligence Attribute, the more mana a person has.

This also coincides with the fact that mages or any related class needs to increase their Intelligence Attribute for better output.

Of course, this was not the only purpose of increasing the Intelligence Attribute. Like any of the five attributes of an Awakened Professional, the Intelligence Attribute also does not only exist for increasing mana capacity.

Increasing the Intelligence Attribute also increases the Awakened Professionals magic damage, resistance, mental capability, and so on.

Increasing each of the five attributes of an Awakened Professional would mean a comprehensive increase to all capabilities related to that particular attribute.

"What the hell was that?"

Noah, and even the two girls, were flabbergasted by the sight of the goblin’s head exploding the moment Desther made a move.
