SSS Awakening: I Can Steal Attributes-Chapter 33: Mission
Desther ignored everything and immediately inspected the details of the mission given by the [Chosen One] title.
[Mission: Eliminate 30 Goblins inside this dungeon.]
[Details: Slay the goblins, leave the dungeon.]
[Objective: Eliminate a total of 30 Goblins]
[Reward: Experience Points +100%]
[Time Limit: Before leaving the dungeon.]
[Penalty: Experience Points -50%, Next Mission Penalty: Death]
’Damn it! I knew this title sounded like trouble the first time I saw it!’
Desther cursed under his breath as he saw the mission as well as the details of it.
Ignoring it was not an option either. The next time this title gives him another mission, the penalty would be death, and at that time he would surely not be able to decline it.
’This fucking title lets me do all the work!’
"Desther? What do you think?"
Lexie inquired after noticing that Desther seemed to have become distracted.
"Let’s go with your plan!" Desther stated without a change of expression.
Lexie looked at him suspiciously but, nevertheless, did not say anything else.
The other two were too worried to notice their behavior, so everything proceeded as usual.
Internally, though, Desther was already formulating a plan to complete the mission.
Although 30 kills sounds impossible, for his current strength, he did not think too much about it.
He had killed more when he was still unawakened.
It was not a question of how we would do it, but how long it would take him.
The buff he got from stealing the attributes of two Tier 2 Professionals has already expired, so his attributes now returned to their normal values.
However, being an Awakened Professional, with 29 Free Attributes at his disposal, Desther did not think that it would be a problem.
Even without his trusty revolver, he now has a skill at his disposal. His body was also significantly stronger compared to before due to his daily training.
Although the mission sounds demanding, Desther did not think he would not be able to do it.
Now, the only problem that worries him would be the attention it will bring if someone somehow found out what he was capable of doing.
Endless trouble would surely follow, and he would not be able to do what he usually wanted to do the most.
Since there was a goblin settlement just up ahead, the group did not linger in the vicinity any longer and instead proceeded with their plan immediately.
A few minutes later, they decided to take a rest once more.
Calculating the distance, Desther looked back and thought that they had already gone far enough from the goblin settlement.
Lexie noticed his gaze and decided to approach him with a frown on her face.
"What’s the matter?"
Desther looked at her for a second, and instead of answering, he decided to ask a question in return.
"Can you cover for me?"
A simple question that contains a lot of meaning depending on the situation.
Lexie was confused at first, but after recalling his gaze earlier, she could not help but be taken aback.
"ARE YOU CRA–"
Realizing that she seemed to have overreacted, Lexie took a glance at Elena and Noah before she lowered her voice and moved closer to Desther.
"Do you have to do this?"
Even with her current skillset and her high-grade talent, Lexie did not think she would be able to handle thirty goblins alone.
She might have a crazy and overpowered talent, but she just doesn’t have the attribute and stamina to support the talent’s true capability yet.
This was also the reason why higher-grade talents, though powerful, would still not be able to defeat higher-tier foes with lower talent grades.
Without enough Attribute Points, the talent’s effects would simply not be able to show their true strength.
Now, seeing Desther’s resolute eyes, she was even more sure of her assumption that his talent was also of a higher level just like hers.
She just did not know how he would be able to kill those goblins.
However, thinking back to how he was able to kill the Tier 1 Professional as well as the Dungeon Boss before, Lexie thought that he might be able to do it for real.
Yet, thinking about it still seems impossible in a natural sense.
"Do you need help?" she finally asked after some internal deliberation.
Desther shook his head and merely answered, "Just provide cover for me. I’ll meet you guys as soon as possible!"
He did not say anything else and immediately bolted back to the goblin settlement’s location.
"Where is he going?" Elena could not help but ask.
Lexie merely smiled and stated, "I’m worried that the goblin scout from that settlement would follow us, so I sent him to check the situation. Don’t worry; he’ll be fine."
Elena was confused at first, but after hearing her explanation, she did not think too much about it anymore.
The goblin settlement already functions like a small village. Scouts would be present, and they would also have some trained goblins that can seriously fight, unlike the ones they have fought before.
According to what she knew, if a goblin scout somehow noticed their tracks, it was truly possible for the scouts to follow and track them as well.
Sending someone to observe their rear was a good solution. And she thought that among all of them, aside from Lexie, only Desther had the capability to do it with what she had seen so far.
Paired with that lethal skill of his, Elena thought that he would be fine.
She did not think that Lexie’s decision was bad, so she did not ask any more questions.
Noah was too busy inspecting his shield and gun to care as well.
In the end, the three of them moved forward without Desther. But with the excuse of Desther just following behind to monitor any goblin scouts, they deliberately slowed down just so he could catch up.
On the other hand, after a few minutes of sprinting, Desther finally reached his destination.
Hiding behind the shade of a tree, Desther saw the goblin settlement for the first time.
