After some time, The glow in Su Ping’s eyes reseeded, along with the faint pattern within. He stared at the Wolf King who was now silent in his grasp, not retaliating like before.

’ Did it work?’ he wondered, gently setting her down but still alert in case she tried anything. He didn’t believe in his ability completely, sometimes it was better to be cautious.

Su Ping stared at the silent Wolf King, wondering to himself whether the illusion had suddenly made her mute but the next moment her pupils turned into slits, claws emerging in a split second as she pounced on him.

" A failure it is then..."

Su Ping who was alert, clenched his fists and threw a punch at her face without hesitation but.

"..?!!"

His fist stopped a centimeter from her face when he felt her luscious lips press against his, sealing off his breath in one swift motion.

" G-Get Off!" Su Pings mind spun like a wheel, he reacted a second later, pushing her off.

"..?!!" He stiffened when his push had no effect because her legs suddenly wrapped around his waist, his eyes widened when her hands wrapped around his neck.

" I said get off!" Su Ping didn’t like where this was going, shifting into his draconian form, he used the burst of energy to free himself from her, this time he retreated a few meters, eyeing her warily from a distance.

" Mate, don’t like?" The Wolf King wasn’t irritated by the fact he shoved her to the ground but sat up straight, pressing a hand against her lips while eyeing him with moistened eyes as if she was really hurt.

’ Just what the hell did I end up doing this time...’ Su Pings mind clicked as he realized what had happened.

Since she was calling him her mate, it meant that to her, her mate must be the one person she obeyed or in this case, admired and loved, in her life and wouldn’t betray...

Su Pings pupils unconsciously shifted into his slitted dragon eyes as he lost himself for a second.

The Wolf King was confused when several tentacles popped out of his back like multiple appendages. The tentacles locked as if they were bulging, like literal muscles.

The next moment, Su Ping used the tentacles as well as his feet, to push off the ground.

Emilia who was carrying Melinda, shivered mid air, Melinda who was in her hands suddenly felt her surroundings blur but instead of being afraid, she smiled helplessly as if she predicted something like this would happen.

The next moment, she realized she was safely within Su Pings arms, back on the ground.

Emilia felt a chill down her spine, finally reacting. Her back was drenched with cold sweat because she wasn’t able to react in time to Su Pings movements.

" Why did you bring her out here?!" Su Ping glared at Emilia who just landed, her expression turned anxious as she trembled in fear from his icy gaze, if not because Melinda was in his arms, he would’ve released his killing intent as well.

Of all the things that could happen, Su Ping didn’t expect the both of them to come look for him all the way out here in the woods.

" Stop bullying Emilia, she has nothing to do with this." Melinda suddenly spoke up, looking sorry.

" I was the one who convinced her to bring me to you."

" But you could’ve been hurt! What if you encountered something else first?!" Su Ping snapped, fangs emerging again. But he froze, when he saw Melinda’s frightened look.

" I’m sorry..." Taking a deep breath, he calmed down. He then set her down on her own two feet.

" It’s ok... It’s my fault to begin with."

Melinda reached out a hand to caress his cheeks but blinked in surprise when another hand held hers, stopping her.

Melinda stared at the naked Wolf King, blinking her eyes as several questions flooded her mind but she snapped out of her mind when she sensed faint killing intent in the air.

" Darling please calm down!" Melinda was just in time to stop Su Ping who’s right hand had shifted into his draconian claws, claws centimeters away from severing the Wolf Kings wrist.

Su Ping gnashed his teeth, while glaring at the Wolf King yet he didn’t proceed to do anything more.

" Who is she?" Melinda asked, surprisingly calm.

" Just another failure..." Su Ping reverted his arm back to human form, though his right sleeve had been torn to a varying length.

" That’s not true! How can you say that" The Wolf Kings eye’s moistened, shaking as she stared at Su Ping, looking very much hurt, her hands shaking at her side’s.

She couldn’t understand why her mate was suddenly behaving this way, first he refused to be intimate with her, then he was rough with her, and now he was openly despising her.

No matter how hard she thought, she couldn’t understand why. What hurt her the most was seeing him act so protective over another female. She wasn’t against him having my mates like her but she failed to understand why he was suddenly treating her so harshly all of a sudden.

" Did you..." Melinda seemed to have understood what was going on.

" Yes..." Su Ping said, sighing. " Like I said, she’s a failure and it would be better if I just erased her... She’s too troublesome to be left alive."

" But there’s nothing wrong with her. Why would you want to kill her?!" Melinda pursed her lips, frowning at her husband.

" B-But she’s?" Su Ping stiffened, surprised by her reaction.

" And so what? She’s strong isn’t she?" Melinda said, before walking up to the Wolf King and hugging her, she wasn’t afraid because she sensed no malice from the other party when she had grabbed her wrist earlier. Su Ping on the other hand, had a growing scowl on his face.

" Her strength isn’t the problem..." He muttered throw gritted teeth.

" You’re worried I’d get upset because she technically thinks of you as her husband." Melinda turned her head to face him while still hugging the Wolf King in her arms who seemed a lot better now.

Su Ping didn’t say anything but Melinda knew his silence was his answer.

" I don’t see anything wrong with that–"

" No..." Su Ping cut her off, a purple black flame ignited over his body yet it didn’t burn his clothes, only made him look even chilling.

" Why not?"

" Why should I." Su Ping gave her an incredulous look.

" Because she’s your responsibility now."

" I don’t recall you saying the same thing about the viscount’s daughter." Su Ping raised a brow.

" She got herself in that situation, she isn’t a victim, but she is." Melinda said, gesturing towards the Wolf King in the end, with her eyes.

" And when have I ever bothered to care about victims?" Su Ping had a strange look on his face.

" I know you don’t but can’t you... Just this once?" She asked with pleading eyes.

" I’m confused... Why do I get the feeling you’ve been thinking about this for awhile now." Su Ping frowned feeling uneasy. " There’s nothing wrong with you, is there." He asked, his voice turning softer as his frown changed to a rare sight of worry.

He didn’t notice anything wrong with her last time, so why now.

" It’s nothing... I just thought that maybe... You might need I don’t know..." Melinda’s voice grew more and more softer as she spoke, she blinked when she found herself in Su Ping’s arm’s again.

" That I might need what?" Su Ping raised a brow, perplexed.

" More wives?"

" And why would I need more wives?" Su Pings face creased a bit at the remark.

Melinda was reluctant at first but after awhile, she finally cracked under his gaze, turns out she’s been worried for awhile now, worried that maybe one day, he might not be able to control himself anymore and might hurt her or the children, Su Ping thought she was actually frightened by him but She vehemently tried

to explain that she was just worried he would do something that would hurt him more than her.

Also, at the rate his strength was increasing.
