Su Ping chuckled after hearing this. To think she actually had all this bottled up inside her for awhile now.

" Why are you laughing~ , I’m serious..." Melinda’s beautiful face looked wronged seeing her husband obviously mocking her.

" Fine fine, I won’t laugh." Su Ping set her down and massaged his forehead.

" If that’s what your scared of, then I’ll just be more careful."

"..."

" What?" Su Ping asked but he saw her glance at the destruction before looking at him with a meaningful look.

" This is different..."

" Still not reassuring..." She averted his eye’s, looking unconvinced.

" Fine... What is it you want me to do?"

" Take both Emilia and Her in." She suddenly perked up hearing he finally relented.

" 2 of them?! But you only said one!" His eyes turned into slits but he froze afterwards, taking a deep breath to calm himself down. He shot Emilia who was silent at the side, a silent glare that sent an even greater shiver down her spine.

" Before you say anything, Emilia had nothing to do with this, it was all my idea." Melinda flicked his forehead, only then did he realize his killing intent was almost leaking out again.

" Even with your help, I’m sure I can’t compete with the both of them if it came down to it, they’re the two most likely to keep up with you." She said with a pleading look. " And this way, You won’t have to worry about Emilia and her."

’ That’s not the issue here... I’m not wary of her but.’ His eye’s unconsciously glanced at the vampire.

’ I still don’t trust her completely...’

Su Ping didn’t know why but he felt something strange about Emilia even though he had used his permanent illusion on her.

Melinda continued to watch her husband who remained silent for awhile now. She knew he was giving the idea some thought at least, the fact that he wasn’t rejecting her outright again at least gave her some hope.

She couldn’t help recalling back in the village when she proclaimed to Mengyao that she wouldn’t let anyone steal him away from her. Thinking back, she felt a sense of irony all of a sudden.

" So...."

"...No."

" But–"

" I wasn’t done." Su Ping gently tapped her on the forehead yet she winced, rubbing her skin while glaring at him with pursed lips. " I won’t accept them but since you insist, I’m not against accepting them in name only."

" That’s the best you’re getting out of me."

" It’s still a start..." Melinda giggled. But Su Ping made her gasp when he lifted her into his arms.

" Don’t bet on it, like I said, one is more than enough." He chuckled. " Now can we please leave this place." Su Pings eyes was already looking at his horse cart some distance away. It was a miracle nothing had happened to it, as for the horse, it wasn’t scared off during his fight earlier, all thanks to an illusion.

" Promise you’ll at least be nicer to them..."

" As you wish." He said but he was surprised when Melinda made her way out of his arms.

" Then I want you to start now to prove it." Melinda went behind the Wolf King, gently nudging her towards him.

Su Pings eyes twitched, a patient smirk on his lips but he didn’t do anything this time.

The Wolf Kings eye’s brightened and she leaped into his arms. Wrapping her hand round his neck, while laughing with excitement.

" Now carry her..." Melinda said, making Su Ping’s eyes twitch even more.

Two tentacles emerged from his back, one pulled the Wolf King off him, holding her in the air, while the other wrapped around Emilia, who was surprised, suspending her in the air as well. As for Melinda, she found herself in his embrace again.

" Well it’s a work in progress..." Melinda said with an helpless smile on her face.

Su Ping smiled happily in turn. He carried the three of them to the horse cart before turning it around and heading back in the direction of the city.

Melinda sat next to Su Ping on the coachman seat while he had Emilia and The Wolf King stay in the back.

The Wolf King had a reluctant look on her face seeing her mate stick so close to the human woman but, recalling Su Ping’s cold reaction earlier, she decided to begrudgingly sit quietly... For now.

" Darling, is it ok if I asked you something?" Melinda suddenly spoke up, attracting Su Ping’s attention. he noticed she looked conflicted and anxious at the same time. Unlike she did earlier when openly asking him to get married again.

" Is something the matter?" Su Ping raised a brow, his face perplexed. His wife had never been this reserved before as far as he could remember so seeing her act in such a way.

Su Ping couldn’t help wondering whether it had anything to do with her pregnancy, at the thought of that, a sense of unease filled his heart.

" Did you have anything to do with the sudden disappearance of people from the city these past few days." Melinda couldn’t hold it in anymore and decided to ask.

She understood that her husband always had a reason for whatever he did and most time, his actions were because of the game but recalling how he promised her he would go about it in a legal way, she couldn’t help worrying whether he finally decided to break his promise. if so, she didn’t know how to feel.

’ So that’s what she wanted to ask.’ Su Ping secretly felt relieved that it had nothing to do with her health.

After hearing her question, he turned silent for awhile before sighing. " If I may ask, why are you so curious to know whether I’m behind it or not?"

" Are you trying to say you don’t believe me anymore, that I decided to break the promise i made to you..." Su Ping’s expression looked normal yet Melinda could still make out a hurt look in his eyes.

" Darling that’s not what I meant, I would never think that." She hurried to say, fearing things would end up turning into another hurtful scenario like back when she hurt him for refusing to escape with her and the children.

The memories of that moment still plagued her till this very day, anytime she recalled it, she would have a hard time figuring out how she was still able to face him.

" I see." Su Ping said before keeping silent. While she didn’t bring up the topic again, Su Ping could still feel her stealing glances at him as if she was still waiting on his answer.

" If you’re that curious then I’ll just make it clear that their disappearance has nothing to do with me."

’ If I were to have my way, why stop at random kidnappings when I could’ve raised this entire city to the ground several days ago....’ Su Ping sighed, feeling that going about things this way was beginning to seem more taxing than he realized.

Regarding what he just thought, in truth, Su Ping really did have the man power to raise the city to the ground but, the problem was that, if he were to do that, he wouldn’t be able to keep it under wraps and would ultimately end up alerting the other players in the kingdom.

Facing on their collective forces was something he wasn’t sure of handling at the moment.

" If you weren’t the one behind it, then why do people keep going missing?" Melinda muttered to herself. Her brows furrowed with worry.

To be honest, A small part of her hoped this had something to do with this, at least, that way, she could tackle the problem and find a solution but, since it wasn’t her husband. It meant that somewhere out there was someone openly committing cruel acts.

Thinking about how the rate of disappearances had been on the rise lately, her worries grew even more.

Su Ping noticed her sudden change yet didn’t point it out, the 4 of them eventually returned to the city.

" Please hold on a minute." Su Ping was surprised when he was stopped by the enforcer knights stationed at one of the city gates.

" What for?" He questioned, clearly confused since he had already payed the toll before leaving.

" Please bear with us sir, it’s nothing but a simple inspection." The enforcer knight was surprisingly understanding and didn’t raise their voice.

Taking a closer look, Su Ping noticed the slight difference between their armour and their colleagues.

’ A female knight?’ this was the first time Su Ping had ever seen such so he was surprised.

" If you would all please step down, I’d really appreciate it." The female knight said.

" Darling, I’m sure it’s nothing, why don’t we just comply so we can all return home quicker." Melinda spoke up.

" Fine." Su Ping eyed the female knight for awhile before getting down from the cart. Melinda, Emilia and the Wolf King also got down as well.
