Stranger Danger-Chapter 1794: Spirit Spring Treasure Call Heaven

Ye Qing slowly lifted his hand to touch one of these miraculous streams.

However, the stream nimbly dodged his fingertip right before it would make contact with it. It was like it had a life of its own, and it was playing with him.

Curiosity flickered in Ye Qing’s eyes as he carefully made another attempt with his palm.

This time, the stream gently brushed across his palm and inflicted a cool, refreshing sensation. He felt as if a clear spring had just flowed through the field that was his heart and dispelled his anxiety, worry and fatigue instantly.

That wasn’t all. The stream was cool, but it contained a hint of warmth that seemed to possess some sort of magical quality. It calmed his heart and invigorated his true qi.

“How miraculous!” Ye Qing could not help but comment.

“Indeed!” Feng Qingyou said with a stunned expression.

“Is this... the Spirit Spring Treasure Call Heaven? Yes, it must be!”

Elder Furnace murmured in shock and disbelief, “To think that the Spirit Spring Treasure Call Heaven would be so well-preserved. Neither its vitality and air of spirituality are corrupted. How unbelievable.”

Ye Qing looked at him. “Is this the Spirit Spring Treasure Call Heaven?”

“That’s right. It looks exactly the same as it was back then.”

Elder Furnace launched into an explanation, “The Spirit Spring Treasure Call Heaven is one of the Thirty Six Heavens. Its master is the Treasure Call Great King. The true form of the Treasure Call Great King is the first ever spring that was created after the Nine Heavens Pure Qi landed on the earth.”

“The spring possesses miraculous and mysterious qualities. For starters, its power of creation could grant sentience to any living creature. In ancient times, many living creatures, gods and demons gained intelligence and sentience after drinking from the Treasure Call Spirit Spring.”

Ye Qing’s eyes lit up. “Elder Furnace, you mentioned that there’s a Treasure Call Spirit Spring in this Heaven that could purify the Earthly Sovereign Bell and improve its spirituality, right?”

“That’s right!” Elder Furnace’s excitement was reignited after he heard Ye Qing’s words. “The Treasure Call Spirit Spring is created from the origin power of the Treasure Call Great King. It is the foundation of the Spirit Spring Treasure Call Heaven.”

“Considering how thick the life force and air of spirituality permeating the Spirit Spring Treasure Call Heaven are, it must mean that Treasure Call Spirit Spring is still plentiful and uncontaminated. Let’s go find it right now!”

Ye Qing and Feng Qingyou exchanged glances with each other. Unlike Elder Furnace, neither of them looked particularly anxious or excited. On the contrary, they looked puzzled and wary.

In any case, the group reined in their amazement and stepped into the fantastical scenery. The streams swam around them as if welcoming their arrival and pointing them toward the right direction.

The group eventually arrived at the end of the streams, and there they found a floating emerald green lake that looked like a lost jadeite.

The unusual light in the sky was absorbed by the lake water before reflected back into the open. It made the entire space even brighter and clearer as a result. It was as if they were standing in a dream world.

There were beautiful green lotuses at the center of the lake. The way they swayed slightly in the light looked like fairies dancing in the water.

It was clear at first glance that the green lotuses were extraordinary. The petals were pure and limpid like they were carved out of the purest jadeite. The edges of the plants were also glowing with faint silver light. They looked holy and mysterious.

Water beads could be seen rolling back and forth on the petals like pearls in a jade plate. Even better, they didn't disappear like normal water beads would. It made the lotuses look even more spiritual than they already were.

The lotuses smelled delicate and elegant, refreshing the heart and mind and cleansing the soul.

Ye Qing took a few deep breaths and felt refreshed all the way to his core. It was as if every pore in his body was greedily absorbing the fragrance.

As they approached the lake, a single ripple appeared on its surface. Then, a green lotus bud slowly bloomed as its petals unfolded layer by layer to reveal the tender yellow stamen within. It was like a shy girl slowly peeling back her veil to reveal an unparalleled countenance.

At the same time, an even richer fragrance spread out to the surroundings. It was intoxicating.

“Is this the Treasure Call Spirit Spring?” The group stared at the lake with amazement and surprise.

Elder Furnace nodded. “It looks exactly the same as I remember it.”

Ye Qing obeyed and waved his hand. THe Earthly Sovereign Bell immediately flew out and floated toward the lake.

However, when the Earthly Sovereign Bell approached the lake, it abruptly rang and cast its profound light against it.

“What are you doing?” Elder Furnace asked in puzzlement.

The answer revealed itself the next moment.

Furious ripples abruptly disturbed on the tranquil lake surface as if someone had just chucked a boulder into it. Then, the lake water began bubbling crazily like burning lava. Not only that, a low growl bubbled from the bottom of the lake like some sort of terrible creature had been awakened from their slumber.

The lake water began changing colors at a dramatic rate. Earlier, the spring water was crystal clear and bluish green in color. Now, it was rapidly turning ink black while gray fog spread across its surface like a coat of paint. The pure, limpid streams also lost their original etherealness and turned dirty and blackened. No longer light and ethereal, they flailed wildly in the air like twisted blood vessels. They looked disturbing and intimidating.

The green lotuses at the center of the lake did not escape the gruesome fate either. Its pure and limpid petals began yellowing as if they were scorched by fire. Withering at a visible rate, they rapidly lost their luster and life force and curled unto themselves. Eventually, they scattered into blackened, charcoal-like pieces and floated lifelessly across the tainted lake surface.

The delicate and elegant lotus scent had also disappeared into nothing. It was replaced by a revolting stench that was similar to that of rotten flesh.

The tainted air washed out from the center of the lake and toward the surroundings. It enveloped the entire Heaven in just the blink of an eye.

Ye Qing and Feng Qingyou felt their breathing coming to a dead halt as if a boulder was sitting on their chest. The air had become suffocatingly sticky and disgusting, and the stench especially was so bad that they felt dizzy from it. Even their internal organs were churning in disgust.

“On your guard!” Ye Qing yelled while unleashing his Innate Yin Yang Qi and clearing out the tainted air inside and outside his body.

Feng Qingyou was frowning deeply and staring toward the center of the lake with rare severity as well. At the same time, a thin layer of cloud appeared around her and isolated the tainted air.

“What... What’s going on here?” whispered Elder Furnace with a slight tremor in his voice and widened eyes. He just could not believe that the wonderful Treasure Call Spirit Spring had turned into this horrifying thing in an instant.

Ye Qing’s reaction was calm though. He seemed to have anticipated something like this from the start. “What else? The Treasure Call Spirit Spring was contaminated from the beginning. What we saw was just the illusion it presented us.”
