Chapter 67: SysDi 67: The Valrepite Manor 6

Still a little hesitant to get more than he is used to, Evan finally relents after a bit more urging from Spire. It may have been treated as a simple dinner by Sir Theobald, but it most certainly the first time that Evan felt not only full, but almost stuffed.

Sir Theobald was the first person to leave. Evan is used to everyone leaving the table at the same time, but he knew that nobles do things differently. So he didn’t really question nor wonder about it in his mind.

Even if that was the case, he still waited for Spire to finish her dinner. He saw her ask for something sweet.

It ended up with him also indulging a cold, soft and melted treat, served in a bowl with a smaller spoon than the one he saw for the soup.

Spire called it ice cream, and it tasted very sweet and cold. It reminded Evan of a fruit.

"That’s because it is an ice cream made from the mango fruit." Spire had explained then.

Evan didn’t take a second serving, but he watched Spire ask for more. He got the appeal for the ice cream, but he already felt too full that he didn’t want to force himself to eat more.

Besides, he is planning to go to the stone hill cave tonight. He didn’t want to feel sleepy by then.

After dinner, Evan finds himself back in his room. The servant bowed his head at him once they arrived.

Gesturing at the wall by the door, the servant points at the button below the light switch. "That button on the wall can be pressed to summon any servants for any request you have until midnight. It could be me or anyone else, but it would not work passed the time because everyone will be asleep."

Evan nods his head. "Okay. I’ll keep that in mind. Thank you."

The servant bows again and turns around to leave.

At this point in time, Evan knew where the kitchen is because he had already asked where it was when he was still in the dining room before he left but right after Spire was done with the ice cream. If he ever needs any water once he wakes up at any point at night, he knows where to go.

Although it felt a bit weird to have all of his wants and needs taken care of, Evan knew they this is a privilege that he has never experienced before.

At least he can focus on keeping an eye on Spire as well as his own preparation from now on.

He is aware that Spire and him will be staying inside the Stardust Academy dorms if they both passed, after all. That would be the hope for Evan. Otherwise, it would be difficult to keep an eye on the young lady Valrepite, which is technically one of the reasons why he is here in the first place.

Evan paced inside his room for a moment before sitting on his bed. He barely sank down on the soft bed. He would have to get used to the texture of his bed.

He cannot wait to sleep on it. He wasn’t able to take a nap earlier after all. But first, he had a side quest he was planning to accomplish.

There is a deadline and he is more than well aware that it won’t wait for him to finish it.

"Iva, do you think we can explore the stone hill cave within just tonight?" Evan asked. He leans down so he is laying on the bed, even as his legs dangle at the edge.

’Hmmm...’ Iva huns. ’I’m not really sure. It would be difficult, that is for certain. Why do you want to be done so quickly anyway?’

"Why not? I don’t really want to go back and forth here and the stone hill cave every night." Evan shrugs a little. "If it’ll take two more days, that’s good. But at the current pace, I would prefer to be done with it. I want to see what the reward really meant."

’You’re really curious about what the ’eyes’ mean on that reward?’ There is a giggle that echoed in Evan’s mind.

"Well yeah. The only reason why I’m doing the side quest in the first place is because I’m curious. I already saw the last part of the left branching path and it is already amazing." Evan explains.

Iva hums at Evan’s response. ’So you’re thinking that the end of the right branching path would also be something more or equally as amazing as the one you saw after the left?’

"Pretty much." Evan stares up at the ceiling. He sat back up. "I’ll try and do at least half tonight and then the other half tomorrow."

Iva groans. ’Can’t we just stay here? You can have me summoned and we can lay down on your new very soft bed together!’

Evan sighs at what he is hearing. "I’m not going to just summon you here. Somebody can randomly knock and come in. How would I explain a slime on the bed when those were already extinct? I’ll summon you once I used the fast travel there."

’Fineeee.’ There is still a bit of a whine on Iva’s voice.

"Can you time me every 30 minutes again?"

’Yeah, I can do that.’ And there’s the usual resignation on its tone.

"One last thing." Evan scratched the back of his head. "Apart from the 30 minutes, can you remind me if it became midnight later? I’m planning on returning at that time."

Iva didn’t reply.

Evan sighs. He could tell the voice is sulking. "Fine, I’ll summon you so you can lay down on the soft bed if you do."

’Really!?’ Iva perks up.

Evan takes a deep breath. Why does he have to bribe his supposedly handy helper just to help him to time his stay in the dungeon. "Yes, I promise."

’I’ll hold onto that!’

Well, at least Iva is agreeing now.

"Status. Map tab." Evan says. After clearing his throat, he continues. "Fast Travel: Cave of Underwater Lake of Boon.’
