System Discord-Chapter 68: SysDi : Speed, Strength and Courage

Evan thought it would be an instant thing. He used the fast travel and he would be there, like the teleportation ability that some books he had read about did.

It wasn’t instant.

In fact, he began to be surrounded by light. If I were not for the curtains covering the window, the light would be seen from outside.

Then, there was this feeling of warmth, slowly but surely rising. It is already nighttime and it steadily felt like walking outside on a hot summer’s midday.

Finally, a loud, high-pitched sound is pushing from the top and down to his ears. It was the same feeling as he had experienced when he had the preference test or whichever it was before he had Iva.

He tried to stay as still as he could, even if every fiber of his being wanted nothing more than to cover his ears and hope it will be over soon.

When Evan closed his eyes, he felt as if his entire body was pulled in every direction. It was painful beyond relief.

But as sudden as the painful pulling came, it disappeared.

Evan’s eyes opened and the first thing he noticed was the beautiful lake illuminated by the light that is coming from him.

He felt a sweat came down from his forehead at an exertion he wasn’t expecting. He thought that the fast travel thing was too good to be true. Having the ability to get to a saved location seems like a blessing.

It seems like it really is just too good to be true.

If he is going to travel a lot, using the fast travel would be a painful ordeal. Maybe in time he would get used to it, but as of this moment, he felt like he is about to pass out just from that one moment.

To think he is also going to be doing the same when he gets back later.

Evan takes a deep breath he didn’t know he was holding before he stood up a little straight. Now that the pain has started to ebb, it is time to continue where he had left off.

He is currently standing on the same part of the cave where he last were, thankfully. All he had to do is turn around and...

Evan nodded his head before remembering he had to say the words out loud.

"Yes."

Another light began to envelop him. This time, there was no pain and he got back to the first set of branching paths. With the entirety if the left path completely done, it is time for him to get to the right.

Hopefully, he can finish up to half the number of the corridors. Then again, still a wishful thinking.

"Summon Pet Iva." He says.

Iva the slime appears on the ground where he pointed. "Okay, ready when you are! You remember what we will be facing right?"

Evan’s eyebrows furrowed for a moment. There has already been a lot of things that had happened in the past few days that it felt like a blur.

Then, the vision of frogs came to mind.

"Oh... It’s the frogs right?" Evan couldn’t help but groan a little.

Iva bounced as if confirming what he had just said. "Yeah! Big jumpy frogs. You remembered."

Evan scratched the back of his head.

Now he remembers why he decided to push through the left path first more than the right.

Still, he had to. There is a deadline he needs to accomplish and the only way to go with it, is to begin.

He takes a deep breath. Then, he finally took the lead, with Iva the slime bouncing behind him and following as close as it can.

There was silence. Evan still had no idea what the frogs were capable for and what their weakness is. But he is in a hurry and unafraid to waste some mana points if it means he will end up finishing the entire thing quickly.

The moment he got to the part where the first frogs came to view, Evan couldn’t help but use one of his abilities.

"Detect."

So, the information that he had gotten didn’t change much, that was good to know.

Still, it would be good if he can gain mire information at one point. Maybe he should started using his Detect ability everywhere so he can level it up maybe?

He has been quiet as much as he could but Iva the slime’s body bouncing all across the ground creates a bit of echo.

Evan felt a shiver when he felt several pairs of eyes zero in on him. He knew that it was the frogs in front of them. He can see them and be remembered how far they could jump. There was that same shiver that came down his back whenever he got nervous.

But right now, he would have to ignore that at push forwards.

He puts and arm to stop Iva from moving. "I have been meaning to try this for ages." He says, making a small, nervous laughter. "No time like the present. And Iva, for your own safety, stay where you are."

Evan has no idea how this is going to go. But he knew that he will be using it one day. Might as well make that day today.

He raised his entire palm towards the frog. Most of them were already mid-jump towards him. There was no way Evan would be able to outrun them all, nor was that his plan anyway.

One word was all it took to activate an ability he has yet to understand after the first time he has ever used it.

"Void."
