Chapter 69: SysDi 69: Speed, Strength and Courage 2

When there is light, there should be darkness.

But what filled that space felt like neither.

Evan watched in both fascination and horror as the something dark came from his open palm. He was expecting it to be large, but no.

It was a tiny dot, maybe something a pen would accidentally splotch on a paper while writing. A small dot.

It flew to the middle of the room where the frogs were, some on the air, others on the ground.

In almost an instant, a quiet sound of air being sucked in came, the complete opposite of someone blowing air over hot food or drink.

The closest frog got sucked into the dot as if it was nothing but dust. The next frog did the same. With every frog being taken by the black dot, the more it got bigger and stronger, sucking more and more frogs as it continued.

The light from the torches above seems to be taken in by the dot too. There is no shadow casted by the dot at all, nor could the light hope to illuminate to see what it really is.

By the time it was done, all the frogs were gone. In place was a the same black dot, now as big as Evan’s palm.

Evan had been in the same position after he had casted it. This was not the giant blast that he had remembered that rendered him unconscious way back then.

Still, he kept his guard up. He needs to make sure that all of the frogs were already taken by the dot before he released the void. He didn’t want to waste one mana point if he didn’t get them all.

Once he is sure, he moved back slowly, hand and palm still open. Then when he and Iva the slime is behind a cover, so far from where Evan had casted the ability, he closed his fist.

Almost instantly, a loud boom echoed that it shook the ground. Some loose rocks and dust fell from the ceiling, while a strong blast of air pushed both backward and forward from where the void was.

If Evan or Iva the slime was standing where they were walker, both of them might end up on the wall on the first corridor they had just come from as wall decoration.

Before he can turn to Iva the slime to see if it was okay, he heard a familiar sound.

He leveled up twice after he had used void on all of the frogs. He doesn’t remember if there were more frogs there then when he had encountered the slimes from way back. Still, Evan is more than sure that he had killed all of those frogs by now with just one move.

When he and Iva had killed of the slimes back on the very first corridor, even before the first branching paths, he leveled up five times.

Maybe the levelling up gets slower the more it goes up? Then again, that is assuming that Evan killed the same number of frogs that he had with slimes back then.

This was just him trying to use his Void ability. Even if he had seen it firsthand what it can do and how he had done it, he knows there is still something else that he is missing.

Especially the after blast that they had to hide to get away from. That was probably what got him to hit his head on a wall so hard the first time that he used it he went good night.

"You good, Iva?" Evan asked, glancing down to check on it.

Iva the slime bounced up to go settle on his shoulder. "Yeah! Why didn’t you tell me you were planning on using Void?"

Evan shrugged. "I just figured that I don’t want to get jumped on. There’s many of them and the distance they jump is how fast I run. It’s just not worth it. At least I only need one mana point for a single Void."

Iva sighs. "I guess that’s fair. I don’t have to do anything either. It really works well~"

Evan began walking towards the end of the corridor. There is nothing else in here. But that doesn’t mean he wonders be careful.

He made sure that he doesn’t make too much noise, just in case there are more of these kind of enemies that are ready to go and attempt to annihilate him if he doesn’t do it to them first.

At the distance, he can hear howling. His eyes widened a little bit. He saw in books that the only thing that can do that are wolves.

He remembered that while there are tamed wolves being kept as pets nowadays, wild ones are rabid and eager to kill if it means they can get food out of it. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

They are relentless, quick and their stamina would probably be difficult to deal with. Sharp teeth and even more sharper claws.

Evan is probably way out of his league for this one.

He looks around the corridor itself, trying to see if there is a different passage other than straight. He knows that the straight path will just lead him to the wolves, so that is a no go.

Then, he sighs. He still have his usage. He might as well use one. He really shouldn’t, right after what had happened before. But, it would be much easier if he just tried than wait.

With the intention being clear in his mind of looking for the correct passage connecting this right path to the left, he takes a deep breath.

"Simulation Zone."
