Tangled Hearts - The Alpha's Baby Mama-Chapter 35: Luna for three days...

Xavier POV

One more minute in that room – I would have lost it.

Her lips, her eyes, the way she touched me... I closed my eyes trying to calm my raging desires. All these years without being with Selene didn’t diminish what I felt for her. Before she left, I and Colton would secretly look forward to every full moon with her.

Not only did we rejuvenate, but Selene had me pinning for her every single day although I didn’t show it. I ended up at the rooftop of the hospital and leaned against the wall, trying to catch my breath.

A moment later, Colton notified me that Lucius was coming. Sighing, I push myself away from the wall wondering if he had gathered the extra information, I had asked him to look into.

"Alpha," he called out before he burst the door open "Alpha," he called again looking around.

"I’m here, Lucius," I said quietly noticing that he looked frantic "What’s wrong?" I asked

"Alpha Kurtis have breached our borders downtown. I had Theo and some of the soldiers go to the villages to evacuate the people. We don’t know if he’ll stop to rest or would continue with the journey tonight but our spies are updating me with information every 20 minutes," he said in one breath.

I didn’t even bat an eyelid; it was as if I’d been expecting it. Since our last fracas with Alpha Kurtis and the foxes, I knew this was bound to happen.

"I’ll go and meet him," I finally said "And see if we can broker peace, the state at which our pack is right now, war would wipe us out. There must be something we can do,".

"Will he listen?" Lucius gazed strangely at me "Kurtis, once he set his heart to do something he never backs down and from what Maeve said, he’s in alliance with some Alphas from the region,".

"Maeve said that?" My eyes widened in shock.

"Yeah," Lucius nodded, there was a smile on his lips "Your children are amazing, Xavier. What are you going to do with the situation going on with your uncle?"

"I’ll move heavens to be reunited with my family, Lucius and you know I mean it. The only reason why I am allowing this is because a lot of things is happening right now. Selene is my mate and my wife and I’m going to get her back even though I know she hates me,".

"She doesn’t hate you, Xavier, she’s afraid to go back to what she left. You weren’t exactly the perfect husband," Lucius sighed.

"But I’ve changed, back then I believed it was because of the curse but what if the curse was a fable to scare people and nothing more? I’ve been able to survive without her for three years and we’ve birth strong and beautiful children. So, maybe the curse is no longer potent,".

"Whatever decision you make, Alpha, I’ll support you," Lucius nodded "Now we..."

The door to the rooftop opened and Selene entered holding both girls in each hand. As soon as Maeve saw me, she left her mom and ran to me.

"Daddy," she said with a bright smile "I’ve been looking for you all over the place, where did you go?"

"I’ve been here," I chuckled scooping her into my arms. Vina still stood by her mother. I could sense her hesitation.

It was as if she was worried about leaving her mom, she didn’t want to hurt her. Selene lets her go and nudges her towards me. In a flurry, she ran to me too, as fast as her tiny legs could carry and clasped my legs.

Crouching, I picked her up placing a tender kiss on her forehead. She reminded me so much of Selene. Although she was gregarious and seemed fun all the time, she was the kindest child I’ve ever met.

"How are you doing my darling?" I asked her.

"I’m fine, Daddy," she said placing her head on my shoulders "There’s a way to save everyone without fighting,".

"There is? How so?" I asked her.

"By making peace," Selene spoke up finally "If you decide to fight, then it’s going to be messy,".

"I wasn’t going to do that," I set the girls down and walked towards her, fighting the urge to grab her and kiss her senselessly. I could feel Colton stirring with desire within me "I just don’t know what to do and what item to use as the peace broker,".

"First, you need to take back your position as Alpha of the region by calling a meeting as a way to show everyone that you’re fine and then the land..." she paused looking at Lucius "I heard you’re fighting over a piece of land... Let Kurtis have it...".

"That land has belonged to us for more than a century," Lucius drew closer "We cannot just give it to Kurtis besides, it’ll be a perfect place to set up base and easily spy on us,".

"What if you call a meeting and officially present Alpha Kurtis as one of the Alpha’s of the region and not a rogue Alpha? As for the piece of land, I remember the region has been looking for a perfect spot to build an embassy... why not use that? Since it’s like joining all the packs of the region, I’m sure everyone would agree,".

"Oh goddess, Selene," Lucius nodded his head excitedly "That’s the most brilliant idea I’ve ever heard. Amazing!".

"With Noah’s influence, I’m sure the other Alphas would cooperate. All you need to do now is to ride out to meet Alpha Kurtis and let him know of your decision then fix the meeting for tomorrow,".

"I’ll go gather the soldiers then," Lucius said and made to leave when Selene’s voice stopped him.

"That won’t be necessary, Lucius," she said turning to face him "You’re going to make peace and not war, so going with a soldier would not pass the right message besides, you played a huge role in the last fracas, I think you should sit this one out,".

"Are you suggesting he goes alone?" Lucius starred at me in shock

"No" I shook my head "Every pack would be nothing without their Luna and I’ve decided that I would be your Luna for three days, Xavier. I would go with you to meet Kurtis, attend the meeting with you, reclaim your stand and try to fix up the lapses in the pack,".

I stared at the coldness in her eyes wondering where Selene my wife had gone too. Even though I know a lot had changed since the plane crash, I wasn’t expecting this huge rift.

"And..." I paused raising my eyes to meet with hers "What do you want in return?"

The muscles on her jaw flexed as she raised her eyes and locked with mine.
