Chapter 173: 173: Headmaster

While Simon’s classmates said all sort of things about Simon, Jorra and Merath had different thoughts about him.

"Hey, Jorra."

"I don’t want to hear it."

"But you can’t deny it."

"I said I don’t want to hear it."

"He has the traits and personality of a Daemon."

"I don’t care about that. His bloodline is all that matters. His Daemon Bloodline is very faint, and he’s a hybrid. He has to deal with his other bloodline for his Daemon Bloodline to truly show itself."

"But-"

"I don’t care if he has the traits or personality of a Daemon. Even some of these inferior descendants of ours also have the traits and personality of a Daemon, but are they truly Daemons?"

"True... But none of them have ever awakened their Daemon Bloodline. You should be able to feel it that he’s different. Especially his eyes. Those indifferent blue eyes of his that seems to look down on all things is something only true Daemons have."

"So what? You want to bring him into our circle just because of his eyes?"

"Well... and he’s handsome too."

"..."

"I can see you’re not being serious about this. That’s good to know."

"I am. Jokes aside. I feel like he might develop a seed of sin."

"You speak those words lightly, Merath. You should know that developing a seed of sin is something that’s meant only for Daemons, and only the elite of the elite Daemons have developed a seed of sin."

"I know that, and my guts tells me that he might develop a seed of sin."

"... Hmm... I cannot ignore your instincts, but even with that, the only time he can develop a seed of sin is in the future and when he fully becomes a Daemon. By that time, I’ll have no choice but to accept him."

"Hmm... I feel like it would be better if we’re close to him now. If he becomes a Daemon, it might be more difficult to recruit him and for us to gain his trust."

"Does he look like somebody that wants company? He clearly desires to be alone or at best, he’ll want subordinates. I’ve seen many like him in the past."

"True... But it would not be this difficult if you hadn’t laughed at his name back then."

"His name was pathetic. A Daemon should never have such a pathetic name."

"I can completely agree with you on that one. But we should still try to be close with him. It’ll allow us to understand him more."

"You can try to be close to him. I have no desire to be close to a lesser hybrid for that matter."

"Tsk. This is why you’ll die a virgin."

"What did you just say?"

"You’ll die a virgin."

"Seems you’re so eager to die."

"Let me have sex with him first, then you can try to kill me if you can."

"Tch. Slut."

"Virgin."

"..."

"..."

"In case you’ve forgotten, Merath. Our main reason for coming to this place is to get that child with Shadow Monarch’s bloodline."

"Don’t worry. I haven’t forgotten, but the problem is that the child is nowhere to be seen. We just found him not too long ago, and now, we have no idea where he is."

"I have a bad feeling about it. There’s no reason why he should not be here considering where he lived."

"Exactly. I don’t think I sensed his aura in his house in the middle of the night. I didn’t think too much about it, but now that I think about it... I have a feeling that something is wrong."

"What do you suggest we do, Merath?"

"Hmm... Let’s leave Blackmoon alone for now. We’ll move around and try to see if we can locate the Shadow Monarch’s descendant. Maybe it’s nothing and he’s serving punishment like the others for arriving late."

"Hmm. I hope so. Finding demons who have awakened their Daemon Bloodline is not an easy feat, and the Shadow Monarch’s Bloodline is a bloodline even those elders would desire. The child would be a major boost to the abyss."

"Yeah. Let’s just hope he’s okay."

"Let’s go then."

"Alright, Virgin Jorra."

"I’m going to kill you."

"You don’t have the ability."

"..."

Merath chuckled softly when she sensed the annoyance and anger in Jorra’s aura.

She could say more to further infuriate Jorra, but this much was enough for her.

The long conversation they just had was done telepathically, and none could hear their words.

They had long left their classmates, and were walking around while speaking telepathically and enjoying the scenery of the academy.

Meanwhile, at the balcony of a building on the upper tier of the academy, Instructor Valdin stood close to the edge.

Behind him was a window, and in the window was a dim amber light that showed the faint outline of a figure, but that outline looked like a shadow.

It was extremely strange and weird to look at.

Instructor Valdin’s eyes were on Simon as he entered the school cafeteria, then he released a sigh, turned, got on one knee and bowed.

"Headmaster, what are your thoughts on the slave called Broken Halo?"

The shadowy figure of darkness seemed to be scribbling something on the desk before him. There was no response from the figure for a minute, but Instructor Valdin did not stop kneeling and he never made a sound.

His head remained low, and his eyes remained closed.

Eventually, the figure stopped scribbling, then he spoke.

"Let him be. Like the child said, the clan and academy would not value any Initiate who cannot defend himself against a mere slave. We’re not here to raise greenhorns or protected assassins. We’re to raise assassins that would cause fear on the battlefield. So, let him be as long as he doesn’t go too far."

"Hmm... Besides, it’s just the first day, let’s see how everything would go. He’s not as talented as the others in terms of bloodline and race, so I expect his classmates to surpass him eventually."

"What about training him in the path of the shadow? He has a C grade shadow affinity. It’s not something that can be ignored." Instructor Valdin asked another question, and the Academy Head went silent.

Only the tapping of the headmaster’s finger on the desk could be heard.
