Ethan Williams.

While Ethan’s awakening shook the heavens, a silver-haired young man was sprinting full-speed down the pristine corridors of Zenith Academy, boots slamming against the marble floor like a panicked rhythm of doom.

His destination?

The warp gate that would take him to his luxurious penthouse apartment—perched atop Phoenix Spire, the tallest tower in the academy.

’Damn it, damn it!’ Alex muttered under his breath, weaving between startled students and faculty. ’How could this even be possible?!’

His face was pale, pupils dilated, and sweat clung to his brow.

’The hero didn’t awaken during a battle, or some dire trial of fate—no, he awakened because he saw his sister kiss someone!’ he hissed, tone bordering between disbelief and horror. ’What the hell is happening to this world?!’

He ran faster.

’Useless!’ Alex shouted, startling a group of first-years nearby. ’Did you hear that?! Where are you when I need you? Come out and help me! The main character wants to beat me up pretty badly and I haven’t even done anything—yet!’

Suddenly, a sarcastic, grumbling voice rang in his mind like a headache wrapped in snark.

[What the hell do you want from me now, you pain-in-the-ass host?]

Alex blinked mid-stride, nearly slipping.

’Oh, good. You’re alive,’ he thought. ’And still sarcastic, so nothing’s changed.’

’Still mad about what I said earlier?’ he grumbled mentally while dodging a janitor’s mop cart. ’Come on, forget about it already, System. You’re not useless, okay? Just... give me a way out of this mess.’

His thoughts grew sharper, laced with irritation.

’His sister was the one who defiled me—defiled me! So why was he glaring at me like I corrupted some sacred relic?!’

The system sighed so hard, Alex could practically hear its metaphysical eye-roll.

[You know, host... you may not be the protagonist, but why do I feel like you get into way more trouble than the Chosen One himself? Be honest. You’re not actually the protagonist in disguise, right?]

Alex skidded around a corner and hissed back in his mind, ’How would I know?!’

’I mean, you know me—I’m a peaceful, forgiving guy who avoids trouble at all costs. I’m basically a pacifist. I think of everyone’s well-being.’

The system was quiet for a moment.

Too quiet.

Then it muttered:

[...Are you sure you’re not talking about Ethan, host?]

Alex stopped in his tracks for half a second, scandalized.

’How dare you, you usele—’

He caught himself just in time.

The system immediately pounced.

[What was that? You were about to call me useless again, weren’t you—]

’Nothing!’ Alex said out loud, startling a passing instructor. ’I said nothing, my supreme, divine, glorious System! Just give me a damn solution already!’

He felt the system mentally take a deep breath—the kind of breath that said, "I’m only doing this because you’re my responsibility."

[The only solution I can think of is this: avoid Ethan for at least two days. Once ChIarlotte delivers the Awakening Nectar, you’ll be able to awaken your bloodline—and if luck is on your side, maybe even your physique. That’s your best shot at survival.]

Alex groaned but nodded to himself.

’Not a bad idea... not bad at all, per se.’

He finally reached the warp gate, its glowing runes humming with energy. With a final push, he leapt into the portal and vanished in a flash of silver light.

Phoenix Spire – Alex’s Penthouse Apartment

The warp gate deposited Alex directly into a sleek, high-tech hallway lined with elegant golden trims and embedded mana crystals. His boots clicked against the obsidian floor as he moved toward the elevator.

By the time he reached the 10th floor, the wall-like door to his apartment slid open with a soft hiss.

{Welcome home, Alex,} said a mechanical voice—crisp, feminine, and warm. {How was the Freshmen Ball? Did you enjoy it?}

It was his AI assistant, Zara.

Alex trudged inside like a defeated general returning from battle.

"Don’t ask, Zara... I don’t wanna talk about what just happened. Ever."

{Sounds like it didn’t go well.} Zara replied, her tone laced with curiosity. {Are you okay?}

"For right now, yes," Alex sighed. "Ask me again tomorrow. Maybe I’ll lie then, too."

He dropped onto his velvet couch, groaning into a pillow.

"Forget about it, Zara. Just prepare the bath and dinner. I want to soak in hot water and forget today ever happened."

{Right away, Alex.}

As the AI got to work, the voice in his head returned—this time more serious.

[Host... given how much you know about this world, you must have realized what kind of powers Ethan just awakened, right?]

Alex stared at the ceiling, exhausted and hollow.

’Yeah,’ he thought. ’I know.’

’Dragon God Tiamat and Phoenix Goddess Solara. That’s not just a bloodline fusion... it’s a divine catastrophe waiting to happen.’

He covered his eyes with his arm, groaning.

’And now he wants to break me just because I got kissed by his sister. Which, may I remind everyone, was her decision!’

Alex let out a deep, dramatic sigh and slumped back into the plush couch.

’Yes, I know what kind of powers he has awakened, I certainly do know.’

[Then tell me.]

The system’s voice was laced with genuine curiosity.

Alex exhaled through his nose.

’Ethan wasn’t supposed to awaken this early,’ he said slowly. ’In the original timeline, it took him at least three more months—during his first official academy mission, actually. Not at some stupid ball because his sister decided to bless me with her lips!’

He waved his arms in the air dramatically.

’This timeline is fried. Absolutely fried.’

[What reason could’ve possibly accelerated that? Oh, maybe I know one.]

The system said sarcastically.

Alex didn’t hesitate. His voice turned cold.

’Just shut up. There could only be one reason.’

He stood and began pacing the room, frustration building in every step.

’Evelyn. Freakin’. Williams.’

He pointed to himself. ’She’s the anomaly that defiled me. Me! And now her brother—who has apparently gone full psycho siscon mode—wants to beat me into dust. Or worse. I don’t even know anymore what he’ll do to me.’

[You’re talking like she’s the only anomaly in this world that’s messing with the story.]

Alex scoffed hard, rolling his eyes and spinning around to face nothing in particular.

’And you wonder why I call you useless.’

[...]

’She broke the timeline,’ Alex continued. ’Because of her, Ethan’s awakening wasn’t just early—it was catastrophic. You and I felt the Will of the World scream when it happened. You think that’s normal?! She’s the bigger anomaly. Hands down.’

[Alright, fine. If he’s gone full-on protective brother berserker, we need to be ready. Tell me what abilities he awakened. At the very least, we should prep a counter.]

Alex stopped pacing, narrowing his eyes with a half-smile.

’Now you’re being slightly useful.’

[...]

’Okay, let’s start with the basics,’ he said, walking toward the glass window of his apartment, gazing down at the glowing spires of Zenith Academy beneath the night sky. ’As the Chosen One, Ethan obviously awakened the most broken set of abilities in the game.’

He folded his arms.

’Of course the universe handed him a cheat code the size of a small continent.’

’First—his bloodline and physique. That’s the core of his awakening.’

He turned, serious now.

’In the game... when he awakened, he didn’t just get some blessings and flashy sword skills. No.’

He shook his head slowly.

’He awakened two bloodlines. Not one. Two.’

[Wait... two? That’s already busted. What kind?]

’Not just any,’ Alex muttered, eyes narrowing. ’We’re talking divine-tier bloodlines. The kind you’re not even supposed to possess at the same time without your body imploding.’

[Name them. Right now.]

’Tiamat—the Dragon God. The primal force of domination, eternity, and destruction.’

[Okay... that’s—bad.]

’And Solara—the Phoenix Goddess. The source of immortality, cosmic flame, and divine rebirth.’

[Okay... that’s—worse.]

’Exactly,’ Alex said grimly. ’Each one alone is top-tier. But together? It’s like the game devs gave the protagonist the keys to reality itself and said "go nuts."’

He sat down again, staring at the ceiling like it owed him an apology.

’How the hell am I supposed to compete with that?’

[Wait. If he has both of those... then what kind of body did he awaken?]

Alex’s voice dropped.

’You ever seen a body... that can’t be killed?’

He leaned forward slowly, a tired smile creeping across his face—equal parts admiration and dread.
