The General's Wife Wants to Leave-Chapter 152: The opposite direction from intention
Chapter 152: The opposite direction from intention
Had she known how much he wanted to hold those hands that tortured him, which urged him to blow out the flame ignited inside him, she would definitely remove her hands immediately from there.
But Canillas surely refrained from bringing up that matter to her, as he did not want her to realize that, as he wanted to feel her skin in contact with his a little longer.
At such a thought, Canillas sighed inwardly. As time passed, he would really become a pervert husband who miserably begged the affection of his cruel wife.
Nevertheless, regardless of what kind of husband he would be, what most mattered at the moment was clearing up the misunderstanding with his cruel wife, who was currently upset with him.
"Not touching you is impossible for me, Joanna." Canillas began to speak, pulling his forehead away from Joanna, causing Joanna, who breathed heavily as a result of early dawn warming up where she had to push a heavy body from top of her, to stop wriggling under him as she locked her eyes with his, which she could see more clearly now.
The light of dawn gradually seeped into the room, seeming to indicate that the sky had turned into a pearly glow. It made Joanna wonder how many minutes she had been behind the schedule she had set.
Was her father already prepared to leave? Joanna wondered while gazing at the man who was talking on top of her.
"You are my wife. But I always keep in mind not to do what you dislike because I respect you as my wife. But until when should we be like this?" Canillas asked.
"Sir Canillas, please..."
"When will you accept me as your husband, Joanna?" Canillas cut off Joanna’s effort to make him stop speaking. "What should I do to make you willing to be my real wife? Tell me, Joanna." Canillas kept on speaking, bringing out what he was feeling in his heart all this time since he found her persistence to stand on her solid ground, building a tall, sturdy wall between them.
"Tell me, Joanna," Canillas urged, his voice tender. His hand was still moving to softly stroke Joanna’s hair, to which Joanna stayed still because she could not touch that hand to stop touching her, as asking him to stop touching her or shifting her head to avoid it were futile.
"I... I..." Joanna was really perplexed about what to say as an answer. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
It was actually the same question he gave her last night, but similar to what was happening at that moment, she could not give him a quick, decisive answer, although she knew what answer she wanted to give him.
"I... need time." Shifting her eyes downcast to avoid his, in a voice barely above the whisper, Joanna managed to form an answer—a different answer from what she was supposed to say but the same answer she gave him last night before she was freed from the cage to sleep.
"Until when?" Canillas asked, and although he could guess what the answer would be, he kept asking that as he expected a different and better answer than what she gave him last night.
"I don’t know," Joanna replied quicker this time, still avoiding his eyes, to which Canillas responded with a faint nod and a small smile of understanding.
It was still the same answer, implying that he could not urge her to accept him anymore in the meantime, or he would end up getting the same answer from her as it was at the moment.
Last night, he said that he would not insist on her answering his demand, not urging her to become his real wife, as he did not want her to be tense and in distress, which made her unable to sleep. But still, he gave her the same question a few hours later.
Canillas smiled bitterly at his action, which walked in the opposite direction from his intention.
Patience was still highly needed. He did not know how much time she needed, but he would wait because he did not have any other option but to wait.
"I wasn’t the one who approached you last night." He decided to shift the focus of their conversation, implicitly telling his wife that she was the one who did so. "But I am fine if you don’t trust me. I just want you to know that regardless of who approached whom, I only wanted to give warmth to my wife, who was curling by my side last night. But you are free to blame me as much as you want if you don’t trust what I said, as I also don’t know how to convince you if you don’t have trust in me," Canillas clarified, telling Joanna the truth, regardless of whether he was trusted or not.
"I hope all the misunderstanding is clear now. So let’s sleep more," Canillas said, which made Joanna’s eyes wide open in surprise when she heard he still wanted to sleep more. The words ’sleep more’ alone had left her no time to weigh whether she should trust him or not.
Shifting the melancholic air to the surprising one. Joanna could not believe it came from the same man who never let her heart rest, even for a bit. But they really could not continue to sleep as they were pretty far from the scheduled time.
"No! I...!!!" A sharp gasp suddenly escaped Joanna’s lips. Complete words as a protest were not able to be conveyed. And it was solely caused by another dangerous movement that was made by the man on top of her body.
Joanna writhed more, exerting more energy to avoid what rested on her neck. She had tried her best not to move when he placed his forehead on hers a few seconds ago, as she was afraid he would move downward to her neck like he did when she avoided his kiss in the deep forest.
She still remembered the sensation he inflicted on that seemingly sensitive part of her body, and she did not want to experience that again. But now, he still buried his face there, causing Joanna to recall the subsequent sensation that would probably be imposed in the twinkling of an eye.
