The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 162: Too good (1)

Hazel stirred around in bed, awoken by the sound of birds. She reached her hand over beside her to touch Tobias and felt nothing.

Hazel opened her eyes to look for him as she feared she might have overslept. The bed was empty with Tobias’s side neatly put together like he had not been there for hours.

"No need to get ready to run, Hazel. I am here."

Hazel propped herself up and looked at the bottom of the bed where Tobias was placing a robe. He was already wearing a yellow robe. "Did you soak already?"

"No. I am waiting to do that with you. I was just about to wake you. I hate to rush you, but I need you to put on this robe over my shirt. It won’t be long before they make their way here to see the bed. Once they leave, we can soak together," said Tobias, looking forward to that moment.

As fun as it was to have Hazel asleep in his arms, there was much to prepare so he had gotten out of bed early.

Hazel sat up to stretch her arms. She was so caught up in enjoying sharing a bed with Tobias and worried about where he went that she forgot about the queen coming here. Hazel looked at the bed, surprised to see a drop of blood.

"You moved the blanket last night. Did you put it back on yourself when I was asleep?" Hazel asked, tugging on the blanket to bring the spot closer.

She would have gotten up to help him if that was the case.

"The blanket from last night was cleaned and should be dried by now," Tobias said, looking out to the balcony where he had placed it over a chair to dry. He got rid of all evidence of their love while Hazel was fast asleep. "That is not your blood. It is mine."

"Your blood? You cut yourself?" Hazel realised, panicking. She searched his hands for a sign of a cut. "Where did you cut your body?"

"Somewhere only you can see if you strip me. This is what I planned to do if we had not slept together. Does it at least bring you some comfort knowing it is not your blood they will look at?" Tobias asked, hoping he had not cut himself for nothing.

It wasn’t much, but he did it to get rid of some of the awkwardness to come.

"See if you can find another man who is going through all the trouble that you did for me. It does help me to relax," Hazel answered, amazed by the lengths he went to make her feel comfortable. She would take him back to bed now if they weren’t expecting guests.

Tobias was going far out of his way to help her on a night when he could have just thought about himself.

Hazel removed the blanket that covered her and got off the bed to join Tobias in wearing a robe. She covered her private parts with her hands as being in a bright room wasn’t the same as when it was dimly lit last night.

Tobias didn’t make it any better as he stared at Hazel. "What are you doing, Hazel? Do you think I was blind last night?"

Hazel exposed her chest to take the robe from Tobias’s hands and quickly got dressed. "I am aware that you have seen all of me, but it is a bit weird in the morning. I need to get cleaned up. I feel sticky and must look awful."

Tobias disagreed with her as Hazel looked beautiful in the morning with her messy hair. He loved seeing her not put together. "I plan for us to bathe together so I hope your shyness won’t last long. There is nothing to be shy about. Your body seduced me last night. You mustn’t wait for it to be a night to let that side of you show. I am not one to wait for night to make love-"

A knock on the door interrupted Tobias and Hazel welcomed it as Tobias was stirring up something inside of her that shouldn’t be there when they had guests.

Without waiting for Hazel or Tobias to permit them to enter, the door opened revealing Valerie who quickly made way for the queen to enter.

"Search it," Tabitha instructed the maids. She paid little to no attention to Tobias and Hazel as she did not want to see how Tobias would look at her. Whether they liked it or not, she had a job to do.

Tabitha would make it quick to avoid conflict and then leave the two alone. Tobias should thank her as she had ordered the person to come from the court not to join her. What she saw would be taken back to those who needed to know.

Tabitha watched as the blanket was raised to reveal blood then removed from the bed to be taken to be washed. Luckily, the two knew their duty and completed it. There was nothing more she could say to the couple aside from, "Well done."

Before his mother could leave after barging into the room, Tobias said, "I will be taking Hazel to the house owned by the palace. We will spend the night there and return for breakfast. I have already sent word that we shall have a ride and a picnic. Should you need us, look for us there."

Tabitha continued out of the room after listening. She wished they would stay here and continue their duties, but she would allow them to leave as she was to keep Tobias happy. No one should upset Tobias before the coronation to push him to run away.

The house Tobias spoke of was within the palace gates so it wasn’t that he was going outside with Hazel.

Hazel hid behind Tobias as the maids moved quickly to clean the bed and placed her dress for the day in the room along with food. Only when the door closed did she step from behind Tobias. "That went...well. I was expecting more people and questions."

"There are normally more people. You will be questioned when I am not with you. Questioned about doing your duty of pleasing me. I can answer that you-"

Hazel covered Tobias’s mouth with her hand so she did not need to hear his perverted answer. "I don’t want to hear what you thought about me last night. We must get dressed and eat before we are late. Wait!" Hazel shrieked, startled by Tobias lifting her.

She was placed over his shoulder like she was some sort of sack.

"Dressed? The horses and food are not going anywhere Hazel. After all the sweating we did last night, it is time for a soak. We’ll save water by bathing together," Tobias proposed as he carried Hazel to the bathroom.

Hazel didn’t buy his sudden interest in saving water. "Just say that you want to have me naked in water. I’m not ready to do it again, Tobias. I just woke up."

"That is why your lovely husband shall bathe you so you don’t need to lift a finger," Tobias replied.
