The last Vampire with the Hero summoner system: I get 5x their powers-Chapter 67: Resolution II
I fanatically looked around, startling Suge, Zhenny, and Alya. The way she spoke, it felt like she was standing right next to me.
"What’s wrong, Luci?"
"That holy pillar elf might be a threat to us, so let’s move faster." I explained directly.
Holding back information to "not make them worry" is so fucking stupid.
Like, those Webnovel characters gotta have some more faith in their loved ones. Wouldn’t it be worse if they had to face the problem head first?
Alya first tried to check it out with her [eyes of Sanguine] but, from the looks of it, failed to locate them. But she kept staring at the spot in silence, her eyes filled with complex emotions.
"That’s not good. Okay, we are close to them anyway. I will inform Laso to activate his skill instantly when we reach them."
"At least, he survived. It would’ve been an impossible situation otherwise." Suge replied seriously, his voice cracking a little at the end.
"What do you mean at least?" Kobi’s shaken voice, supported with shocked, almost terrified gazes of Ren and Zhenny, came expectedly.
"Ever since Grant, you were getting too comfortable with missions, Kobi. You are forgetting how brutal these things are... The mission was a success." Suge sighed deeply, prompting Kobi to lower his head.
"It–It’s not something we should just accept..." Zhenny tried to say something but was cut off abruptly by Kobi.
"Mission was a success. More than a success, as we have killed Alyndra. All your business here was to save Ren, and you did that. I will send you two back to the village when we get back." Kobi’s voice came like daggers.
The girls were more shocked by the coldness and firmness of his tone than scared. But I knew it wasn’t my place to speak; he said that in their best interest.
I nodded seriously to Suge, "That would be good."
Suge pushed everyone to the maximum speed, and the Alphas were rushing towards us too.
They were not slowed by injured slaves and could move at the speed of a Saint class, so it didn’t take long.
Alya still looked lost. I nudged her on the shoulder. She yelped as she turned to me.
"You want to tell me something about the elf?" I could guess that. She had been off the moment I mentioned her.
"Just... Well." Her lips were trembling.
"You do remember I am not him. You matter to me, Alya. I will listen to you. Tell me whenever you can trust me enough to." I said seriously.
She looked at me with puppy, needy eyes. I shivered a little as her lips drooled a little. Clearly, she wanted to jump at me and kiss me aggressively. Not that I minded.
"I don’t think she hates you. She was like our mother growing up... When she attacked the Queen, we were both shocked. We thought she was playing mind games all along."
She took a deep breath, "But. The genocide happened right after she was defeated. I think... I think the Queen had something to do with it, and she was trying to stop it!" She whispered in one breath.
Huh?
Someone I was lowkey relying on to save us was the bad guy all along? That was some shitty ass development...
Well, it’s just what Alya thinks, so it can’t be taken for the absolute reality...
But it made sense. Even with what genius plan Alyndra told about, it would still be virtually impossible to work it all out so well without inside help.
What if the inside help was from the ruler of the nation itself, who also set up the artifact that paralyzed everyone? The thought sent chills down my spine.
Also, how the fuck did we survive? That was another confusing thing. Universally, everyone was paralyzed there, no?
"She really died before answering anything..." Alya felt bad. She thought she was disrespecting the dead, by doubting her and all.
I instantly pulled out a small piece of paper I had folded in my pocket some while ago.
"What’s this?"
"Found it on Sue... His wallet." Her eyes widened.
"You know, I didn’t know what my relationship was with Frieda, so no idea on how to react and all... Sorry I am sharing it now."
She placed her hand on mine. "It’s okay, I understand that." She flashed a brilliant smile.
I wanna fuck her.
"See it for yourself." I passed the letter to her.
Her pupils dilated the further she read.
"I even got Veilcroft’s directions from Jah." I chuckled bitterly.
She was slightly surprised by me making deals with Jah, but repeatedly shook her head.
"No, we could learn a lot from her. She has ruled Nocthra Empire for hundreds of thousands of years."
"Even if she were to hate vampires for some reason, there is no way she would destroy her home for nothing. There has to be something more..." She whispered softly.
"Wanna talk with Luci first?" There wasn’t a chance I could just directly go there, close to a potential enemy.
Alya’s lips parted, "This is too risky! She might really be an assassin!"
"Of course not now, we are leaving now. But later, when we have something that makes sure our survival. We will track her first, then maybe the Queen."
"Right now, we should just stick with the beast guys and see what Pazuzu is all about."
She nodded thoughtfully. She probably understood my interests.
I wanted safety and to avoid all this BS before. But now, I need to face it. Like, know about who is the enemy and attack them first.
They think I am Lucien, and Lucien is their enemy. Enemy doesn’t even do enough representation, to be honest.
They sent captains, Overload, supposedly the toughest one, just because of me. I refuse to believe it’s for this little slave escape. These are important figures.
Also, I am not forgetting I survived the motherfucking Overload. There was no way I would ever know peace unless I destroy whoever the enemy is.
Be it Luci, Frieda, the Velmoria Empire and their king, church, I gotta get rid of them to have some resemblance of a peaceful, fun, rockstar, free life.
I had long made up my mind while everything was happening.
"You look great." Louise’s cold voice brought me back to my senses. He had walked past Suge, directly to me.
"Thanks." I tried to reply with some haughtiness, but when I looked at his face, I changed my mind.
"Look... I am sorry for your loss, Louise." I bowed politely. "I told myself it wasn’t on me because of how powerless I am in this situation, but... It was.
"If I could have been smarter about Subaru and let him destroy captains before, it would’ve went so much more smoothly...."
It wasn’t a lie. I even thought letting him handle Subaru was the better option.
Now, seeing this much death, I didn’t know if it was right for someone so inexperienced in actual combat handling the main trump card.
RPG games and real life were really quite different, as opposed to what Webnovels said.
He ruffled the dust of his bright orange hair without replying.
He was clearly thinking of an insult and in no way expected this from me.
"Don’t misunderstand me, Lucien. I don’t have anything against you. You’re a very capable person."
His jaw trembled, "You have endured more pain than me. I– I... I mean I can’t ever imagine seeing everybody die..." His mouth opened again, but it just quivered to silence.
"But you see, Lucien..." He swallowed, nodded once, and then his face folded in on itself.
"My little sister died today."
He sucked in a breath that turned into a broken noise, shoulders jerking as he bent forward like he’d been punched.
Complete silence fell all around him as the surviving Alphas’ faces were either covered with shock or tears.
Louise’s sobbing, breaking voice was the only audible sound. It was so loud and so desperate and so powerless.
Zhenny looked so shocked she couldn’t even move.
I was frozen too. His towering frame was halved, his knee buckled, his arms fell too, revealing a face sticky with tears and snot as he sobbed gut-wrenchingly loud.
"I–I am sorry..." I repeated. It was unbearable. It was like watching your father cry for the first time as a teenager. Ugly cry.
...
The next five minutes were probably the slowest five minutes I had ever experienced.
I could understand even if he was to hate me now. Pazuzu basically ordered him to save a dude he doesn’t know about, and his sister died in the process.
Their lives were nothing more than disposable. If it was me, I would hate Pazuzu too.
No one said anything as he stood up and ordered Laso. We all pretended like nothing happened.
Laso’s entire body was covered in orange fur, and he has fox-like traits with beautiful, fluffy long dark red tails that somehow managed to match with the orange fur.
With a silent nod, he raised both his arms. "[Spatial singularity... Wormhole]"
As his deep voice fell, space itself cracked with purple lightning.
Strong waves, like gusts of wind but not physical, spiritual, crashed against our bodies.
Shwiii!
A powerful cracking sound echoed in the hallway as the crack began to shatter. One crack, then four, then twelve, before all cracks blasted into an oval of purple darkness, exuding an ominous aura with its hollow entrance.
