The Monarch-Chapter 715: Celestias
Curiosity was one of Thoth's worst enemies; it made him completely breathless while thinking about the possibilities. He was incapable of ignoring something he did not know, something that was beyond his reach. That was practically impossible within his concept of life; it made no sense for something not to make sense to him.
"That does not make sense. I admit that I made some miscalculations regarding this Kayden in particular, but that is completely common when dealing with them," Thoth began to babble. "What makes you think he is capable of being an heir?"
Thoth was completely worked up thinking about the possibilities. This was a ridiculously rare event; the number of apprentices Hypnos had could be counted on one hand, and each of them came very close to becoming a celestial.
"It is a gamble. This Kayden is common in strength, but the path he walked has small and very interesting variations, nothing beyond that," Hypnos smiled at Thoth. "Now you may leave."
Before the two could continue, another mage appeared. It was obvious by her aura that she was at the same level as Thoth and Hypnos. She was a woman with blonde hair and pointed ears; her skin was completely white, without a single sign of freckles or marks, looking almost like pure milk, so crystalline it was.
She carried a staff with a crescent moon at its tip; the staff measured at least twice her height. Her clothes were white and light, giving off a clean and calm air. Kayden had the feeling that he had seen her at other moments in his life, but he was incapable of thinking of a solution.
"So this is the Kayden you chose," the woman began to analyze Kayden with her blue eyes.
"Peculiar, isn't he?" Thoth replied to the woman.
"Truly very peculiar. What do you think of this, Hades Celestia?"
A shiver crossed the environment when Hades Celestia emerged, without warning, as if he had always been there and was only now being perceived. His presence did not tear space apart; it merely silenced it, making even the auras of Thoth and Hypnos seem more restrained. Kayden felt the weight of that gaze before even facing him.
Hades had sober features and deep eyes, so dark that they seemed to absorb the light around them. His somber garments undulated slowly, as if responding to laws no one else understood. When he appeared, he said nothing — and even so, everyone understood that something had changed.
"He is different from the other Kaydens. Even though his strength is common, he is ridiculously different from the others," the man thought a little more and… "it seems that he lived two lives…."
"He did. He is Kayden Heart, and at the same time, he is not. He has memories that no other Kayden Heart ever had. All of them are the result of a flawed rebirth by the universe or insemination by the Monarch, but… this one in particular survived six years longer than the average," Hypnos began to speak, and at that moment a snap occurred in Thoth's mind.
"You hid this from me, didn't you?" Thoth smiled with a tone of madness.
"Yes. I altered his copies many times and altered their souls, all so that this information would not reach you," Hypnos smiled. "But even with it, you probably would not have changed your actions much."
"I would not have, and even now I would not change them."
"It is time for you to change your soul. It is too irrational," Hypnos said directly. "Your arrogance blinds you."
Thoth's reaction was something Kayden never expected to see, and it made him understand a little of how strong these beings truly were.
"Arrogance?" Thoth's voice carried a slight tone of anger, and that was enough for—
All of existence was cut into two halves. A single word destroyed half of existence and left the timeline completely disordered, with trillions of points where the universe of chaos appeared in the common world. Not only that, but the timeline became strange, far more random and unpredictable.
"Yes," Hypnos replied without fear, and in the next second, everything had returned to normal, including the lives that had been taken. Everything was completely restored without any sign of what had happened.
"Yes, you are really right," Thoth grew thoughtful for a moment. "But even rationally, why would not choose this Kayden."
Meanwhile, Kayden was only listening to the conversation and trying to learn as much as he could. His mind went completely blank when Thoth made that tear in spacetime. In truth, it was not a tear or even an attack; it was simply that ceasing to exist, and—
BOOOOOOOOM!
The universe of chaos exploded around Kayden, destroying his body. Not only that, but his soul suffered extremely severe damage; practically fifty percent of it was destroyed. It happened very fast, but at the same time, it was in slow motion for those beings.
All of them were able to see Kayden consuming a part of the universe of chaos, more specifically, a part of the law of chaos, and using that energy to do something very similar to what they could do, but on an infinitely smaller scale and without any success. But that was not the frightening part; the frightening part was that he was able to do something similar at all.
"I wonder how many Kaydens had this experience and how many would have done this," Hypnos smiled while the others tried to process what was happening. "This one in particular is insane, completely insane." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"You nullify existence, Thoth, but how?" Kayden, in the midst of all his pain and in the middle of the situation, asked this question to Thoth as if it were nothing, as if it had been just a pastime.
A silence appeared among the celestials at that moment. This was a truly unique situation across all timelines. Obviously, ly this was Hypnos's doing, but the talent this Kayden demonstrated, the coldness with which he performed his actions, all of that was extremely peculiar.
"He is capable of speaking in our presence while being a mortal…," Hades was dazzled by this specimen of Kayden.
"Why shouldn't I?" Kayden replied normally, and Hades laughed.
"Truly a find, Hypnos. His mind is very peculiar." Hades turned to Kayden and introduced himself. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Kayden. My name is Hades Celestia. I hope to see you in the future." With that, he disappeared.
"I will change my soul. I truly failed." Thoth did not respond to Kayden and disappeared. Besides him, the other celestials who were here — which, by the way, were not only these four — vanished as if nothing had happened.
They were already incapable of finding this Kayden. At that moment, there was nothing they could do; it was far from their hands. They would only have to watch this unfolding.
"Return." With a single phrase from Hypnos, Kayden returned to normal as if nothing had happened. "Only meddle with that when you become a god, boy. I will not heal you a second time."
