Chapter 69: Adam’s Suspicion

After clearing out the zombies that had been attracted by the aura that was being emitted by the territory’s core, Henry finally decided that they had to find ways to level up.

Previously, he had already received information about the invisible barrier that had been set around the territory. The level of the barrier depended on the level of the territory Lord. And since he was currently at level 1 Bronze rank, the barrier was able to stop the attacks of a level 1 bronze rank apocalyptic creature.

And with the apocalypse progressing, there was no guarantee that the territory call would not attract even more strong apocalyptic creatures. Additionally, Henry knew that the manner in which the territory was built was very eye catching, and it was bound to attract attention of the people who would pass by here.

He was sure that they were not the only people that thought the center of the city definitely was a dangerous place as compared to the other parts of the city that had the least population. So, it would not surprise him if instead of apocalyptic creatures attacking him next, there might actually be a group of people that would attack.

"I’m not sure about the conditions of being capable of reaching the bronze rank. It is just that, we will have to try everything else out. We have to look for high level zombies or monsters so that the two of you can deal with them, and try to reach the bronze rank." Henry said as he looked towards Adam and Sarah.

The two of them had already reached level 9, and they were not that far away from reaching the bronze rank. However, Henry and Olivia were pretty not sure about how to reach the bronze rank.

They were not sure if a person needed to kill a Bronze rank creature to level up or, they could as well continue killing level 9 apocalyptic creatures to level up.

"As for the two of us, we also need to find the Bronze rank apocalyptic creatures. We need to level up to make sure that we can maintain an advantage over any other person." Henry continued.

"I understand all of that. And I too want to get stronger than currently I am. After all, if we encounter a creature like that giant zombie, or maybe that strength zombie that Olivia killed, we are definitely useless. And I am not happy about being useless." Adam said.

"But, the problem is, it is quite difficult to get high level apocalyptic creatures. As of now, it is even considered lucky that we were able to reach level 9, considering that almost all the zombies that we have been killing recently are ranging from level 1 to level 6." Adam continued.

"That is true. But we don’t have a choice. We have to try and actively look for these apocalyptic creatures so that we can get stronger. All of this is just the beginning of the apocalypse. I’m pretty sure that during the later stages, there is going to be even stronger apocalyptic creatures. If we don’t use this chance, we might actually be eliminated." Henry replied.

After a moment of silence, Olivia finally spoke. "I have an idea. Why don’t we divide ourselves? The two of you will go out first, then you will come back after Adam has leveled up or after about 3 hours. And after you are back, Sarah and I can also go out."

Henry thought about it and thought that this was actually plausible. After all, there was no way that they were going to leave the territory unguarded.

Even though there was actually an invisible barrier that was surrounding the entire territory, there was also the fact that there was no guarantee that it would be capable of stopping every enemy that came over to attack.

For that reason, since they currently did not know about the full capabilities of the invisible barrier, it would be better if there was someone that stayed back and take care of the territory.

Additionally, Olivia and himself possessed combat power that was way out of their level. Even though it was true that it was not by a much large margin, at least all of them possessed incredible skills and equipment. This was an advantage to them.

"Okay then. We will be back within 3 hours. It doesn’t matter if Adam is going to level up or not, but we will have to exchange the shifts, so that you can also try your luck." Henry replied.

"We must get going now. I don’t think that we will be having that much time to discuss matters like this. We will have to look for ways to recruit people so that the hour of the territory’s core can be hidden." Henry got to his feet and said.

After that, the two of them walked out of the conference room, then out of the building. And as they began walking towards the center of the city, Adam looked at Henry with a strange gaze again.

"What is it this time?" Henry asked when he realized that Adam was not giving up on looking at him like that.

"Are you really sure that there is actually nothing going on between you and Olivia? She is supposed to be the second in command, but, you are actually giving her too much freedom." Adam replied as he looked at Henry suspiciously.

"What kind of freedom are you talking about?" Henry asked in a confused tone. He actually could not understand what Adam was trying to imply.

"Stop playing dumb. Just like now, she is actually giving suggestions, and you are following them without saying anything. I’m beginning to wonder if she is actually the real leader of the group or you are." Adam replied.

"Are you an idiot or something?" Henry questioned as he looked at Adam weirdly.

"An idiot? Even though it is true that I have not gone ato school for the past 10 years, at least during the time that I was going to school, I was a super genius!" Adam retorted.

"Let me ask you something. Just think about the suggestions that she had made. Do you perhaps have any other idea that is way better than the one that she has given?" Henry asked as he continued moving forward. At the same time, he was attentive of his surroundings.

"Well... It is not like I have any other idea that is way better than the suggestion that she had given, but, why don’t you just try to give a suggestion, before discussing the matter rather than following it immediately?" Adam replied as he scratched his head awkwardly.

"This is the apocalypse. We don’t have that much time to waste discussing something when we already know what we’re going to do next." Henry replied nonchalantly.

"Anyway, I just hope that you have not forgotten about my sister. The two of you liked each other since you were young. Even our parents agreed on the marriage between the two of you. I want us to be even closer than the relationship that we are sharing now." Adam said with a sigh.

"Don’t think much about that. Am just sure that we will get back home soon. I just hope that everything is going well back there." Henry replied.

He knew that Adam was just getting sentimental. After all, the sister that he was talking about was his own twin sister. The two of them had been growing up together, and even though she was a girl, she always accompanied them in some events.

So, since the two of them had been taken away, it had already been a decade ever since they had met. And, Adam was not the only person that was missing home. Even though he was not showing it on his face, he was actually wishing to go back there.

As the two of them began getting closer to the center of the city, they finally began encountering wondering zombies. The moment that these zombies saw them, they would always charge towards them like mindless creatures.

Of course, Henry had decided to leave everything for Adam. As long as it was not a large crowd of monsters, or it was not a bronze rank apocalyptic creature, he was not going to take a move.

Adam had already begun getting used to dealing with a large group of zombies. Even though it was true that he was actually way efficient when dealing with a single target, the skills that he possessed enabled him to deal with both large crowds and a single target.

The sheer power or the shock wave that was being produced by his axe as he slashed forward was enough to obliterate any zombie that dared to attack them.

"This is getting boring. I just can’t continue dealing with this group of small fries every time. Henry, why don’t you deal with them? With just a single attack from you, you can easily clear them out." Adam began complaining after about 30 minutes.

During the past 30 minutes, he had simply been dealing with level 1 to level 6 zombies. He had only met with a handful of zombies that had surpassed that level.

"You better stop complaining if you want to get strong." Henry said. At the same time, he began paying attention as he had heard a commotion coming not far away from where they were.

"Okay! Let me just bear with this for a little while." Adam replied with a resigned voice.

"Stop whining and follow me. There’s something in this direction." Henry said before he began rushing towards the south.
