The Soul System in the Apocalypse-Chapter 70: Strange Zombie Movements
Chapter 70: Strange Zombie Movements
After Jasmine joined a group of 20 people who were previously taking roles as the security guards for the governor, the group finally left the underground building.
The moment that they stepped out, they realized that there was actually a large group of zombies that was loitering around the area. It was as if they had been attracted by something, but it was just that they could not find it.
Still, the group wasn’t out to deal with the zombies. So, they all began acting stealthily, trying to make sure that they did not attract the attention of the zombies.
But of course, that was something that was completely impossible to do considering that the number of zombies that was in the surrounding streets was just high.
Consequently, the group was immediately pursued by a small group of zombies. And as these zombies began roaring as they charged towards them, the other zombies were also alerted.
"Sh*t! Just how sensitive are these zombies? Let’s get out of here as soon as possible before we are completely surrounded!" A man with a sturdy body-build said in a hurry. He was the person who was leading the team this time.
"Yes captain." The other 19 men all replied before they began moving. In their hands, they were either holding guns, machetes, steel pipes and baseball bats.
Although this was not the first time that they were out, they were all mutant warriors that had already managed to awaken after killing 10 apocalyptic creatures.
It was just that, their current level was low, and additionally, they had not managed to get weapons or other equipment and skills. After all, the drop rate of these things was actually to low.
Jasmine did not reply, but acted according to the captain’s words. This time, she didn’t come out as the governor’s daughter to control this group of people. Since she did not have much experience in terms of commanding war, she had decided to follow the arrangements of the captain.
The group began rushing towards the south, trying to ensure that they lost as many zombies as possible. They knew that by moving towards the outskirts of the city, that was possibly theonly way that they could encounter way less zombies.
Additionally, currently, the area that they were in was actually towards the southern part of the city. So, that was the closest area without a large population.
As the group was moving forward, it was obvious that they encountered several zombies that were coming towards them from the front.
"Make sure that you don’t use your guns. If you use them, you are going to attract even more zombies towards us!" The captain shouted.
The group responded immediately by using the weapons that they were holding in their hands. They had carried guns as a precaution, just in case.
Bang! Boom!
As long as they encounter the zombie, it would leap forward, trying to bite their necks. But of course, this group was trained before they were qualified enough to protect the governor and his family.
For that reason, since they were lucky enough to encounter low level zombies, they were able to deal with them effectively. It was just that, as they continued moving, the pressure that they were encountering continued increasing.
Additionally, they did not possess infinite stamina. For that reason, they had already began getting tired after a long period of running and fighting along the way.
"We have to find a place to hide. Otherwise, we are definitely going to die from exhaustion." The captain said, as he began scrutinizing the surrounding buildings, trying to find a suitable place for them to rest.
He was doing this considering the lady that was coming with them. Even though it was true that she was actually strong, she was not a warrior but a mage. And for that reason, she was already panting heavily after running for a very long distance.
"There!" One of the men pointed towards a building. That was supposedly a shop, and the door was currently wide open.
The captain did not think much about it, and immediately led the group in. The reason that they had chosen that building was simply because it had doors that looked sturdy enough to be able to prevent the zombies from getting inside.
After the group rushed into that building, they found that there was actually another small number of zombies inside. Without hesitation, they immediately locked the double glass doors, before starting to clear out the zombies that were present inside.
All the zombies that were present inside here were actually wearing uniforms, indicating that they were previously employees here. But, either through direct transformation or by being bitten by other zombies, they had turned into zombies.
Thankfully, none of the zombies that they faced this time was strong. So, in just a matter of 2 minutes, they had completely killed all the zombies present in there.
"It is good that we have already begun leveling up. Had it’s not been for the fact that we are out for a mission, we would have utilized this chance to continue leveling up." One of the men said as he sat on the ground, leaning his back on the wall.
The group was currently inside a store that was previously used as a small food store. Even though it was called a small food store, it actually possessed a large stock of food.
"Don’t worry that much. I’m sure that the food in here can actually relieve the hunger of the people present there. But it is going to be a difficult task for us to transport all of this food back to the temporary base, considering that we will have to fight as we move." Another man replied.
Some of the men had already begun picking up fruits and so on, to relieve their hunger. Just like the people present in the underground basement, they were also hungry. After all, they had not eaten for a day now. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
Added to the fact that they had actually spent a lot of energy fighting, they needed to replenish their energy reserves.
Jasmine on the other hand did not say any word, but instead, focused on packing the food. She had already begun thinking about the possible ways that they were going to use to transport the food back to the underground basement.
Since there was no way that they were going to carry the food on their shoulders and backs while fighting at the same time, she thought that perhaps using the carts that were present inside here was way better.
When the other men who were eating while trying to rest saw this, they were ashamed. After all, just like them, Jasmine had been running around while fighting. And considering that she didn’t possess a strong physique like them, she was supposed to be the most tired of all.
But now, she hadn’t even eaten anything, as she was busy trying to pack the food, to ensure that they delivered the food back to the basement.
So, one after the other, they began abandoning the matter of trying to replenish the energy reserves in the bodies, and began trying to pack as much food as possible.
During this time, they had also noticed that using the shopping carts was way better than carrying them. So, they tried to ensure that these small carts would be able to fit as much food as possible.
However, while the group was packing the food, they did not realize that the group of zombies that had already gathered in front of the small supermarket was actually retreating.
It was not that they had been attracted by a large commotion from somewhere, but, from the shivering of their bodies, it was as if they were scared of something that was present there.
And in no time, the surrounding few hundred meters of that building was completely empty of any wandering zombies. All of them had moved as far as possible from that area.
The captain was the only person who was keeping an eye on the outside during the time that he was packing the food. And he suddenly realized that outside had suddenly become silent, which was completely the opposite of the previous few minutes ago.
This strange situation made him frown. After all, he knew that for the zombies to be able to move from here, they had to be attracted by large commotion or a group of humans or monsters.
But now, all of these zombies had simply retreated, and he could not find the reason behind that. Currently, he was already at level 6. This level was already considered good, as they had not encountered a large group of zombies yet.
"All of you, you better get attentive. There’s something that is not right at this moment." The captain offered a heads up.
Jasmine had also realized something was wrong. After all, she had been paying attention at the door, but surprisingly, the group of zombies that was scratching the glass door had actually retreated.
At first, she had simply thought that they were retreating because they had been attracted by something else. But, considering the way that they were moving away, she was now sure that there was a problem.
During the time that these zombies were chasing after them, they had been roaring loudly and madly. But now, they retreated silently.
Even though she had realized that there was a problem, she couldn’t point it out. That was the reason as to why she was silent, other than that, she was paying attention to her surroundings.
Roar!
Just as the group had already begun paying attention, suddenly, there was a low but deep roar that sounded within the store.
The group immediately felt their hearts trembling, as if they had experienced something terrifying. And in the next moment, they suddenly saw that several shelves were being broken down.
Boom!
At the shelf closest to them was broken into pieces, the cans of milk and other soft drinks burst open, drenching the dry floor.
The pupils of everyone present dilated. They began retreating step by step, as they stared at the creature that had appeared in front of them.
