The Twisted Obsession-Chapter 269: Forgiveness
Chapter 269: Forgiveness
Abby stared at Cage, hardly recognizing the man kneeling in front of her. He looked awful, broken. His shoulders slumped, and his eyes were filled with a desperate plea that cut through her like a knife. She couldn’t believe what he was asking from her. How could he? After everything they’d been through, how could he dare to betray her like this?
Years of bullying, of her killing herself over and over in her mind, the mental torture, the psychosis—now he was asking her to help her bully? The person who had made her life a living hell? Abby wanted to laugh. She did laugh, a bitter, hollow sound that echoed through the room. If someone had told her this would happen someday, she would’ve told them they were crazy.
"Please, Abby—help me. Forgive Lily. I know it’s hard, but please, for my sake," Cage pleaded, his voice trembling. "She’s a changed person. I will let her apologize to you."
Abby looked away, blinking rapidly to keep the tears from falling. Her mind raced, replaying all the painful memories, the times she had begged for it all to stop. And now, her favorite person was asking her to forgive the source of all that pain.
"Please, I-I love her—I’m sorry. So sorry—I wasn’t supposed to love her. God, I hate myself so much... I didn’t want to hurt you, but it happened, Abby."
Remo stood a few feet away, his presence a steady rock. He watched the scene unfold, saying nothing, knowing this was Abby’s decision to make.
Cage bowed his head in shame, his voice barely above a whisper. "I won’t forgive her. I will never accept her, but for your sake, I will help her."
Cage’s head snapped up, surprise etched on his features. He hadn’t expected her to agree, not after everything.
"For saving me, for being there for me. This is my payment." Abby’s voice was cold, detached, as if she were speaking to a stranger.
Without waiting for his reply, she turned and walked away, her steps measured and deliberate. Remo fell into step behind her, his eyes never leaving her. As soon as they were out of sight, Abby’s composure shattered. She broke down, sobbing uncontrollably, and Remo was there, holding her tight, his strong arms offering the only comfort she could find in that moment.
"It’s okay, Abby," Remo whispered, his voice a soothing balm to her tortured soul. "Let it all out."
"I hate him," she whispered, but even as she said it, she knew it wasn’t entirely true. She didn’t hate Cage. She was angry, hurt, but part of her still cared for him. That was what made this so painful.
"You don’t hate him," Remo said gently. "You’re hurt, and you have every right to be."
"I can’t believe him," she choked out between sobs. "After everything... how could he ask me that?"
Remo held her closer, his heart aching for the woman he loved. "I know. It’s unimaginable. But you did the right thing."
"Did I?" she cried, burying her face in his chest. "I feel like I’m betraying myself, betraying everything I went through."
"You’re stronger than you think," Remo said gently. "You’re doing this for him because you’re a good person, despite everything. That’s what makes you different."
Abby shook her head, her tears soaking Remo’s shirt. "I hate this. I hate feeling like this."
Remo stroked her hair, his touch tender and reassuring. "I know, my love. I know. But you’re not alone. I’m here with you. We’ll get through this together." frёewebnoѵēl.com
The weight of the night’s events pressed down on Abby, making it hard to breathe. She clung to Remo as if he were her lifeline, the only thing keeping her from drowning in the sea of her emotions.
"How can he love her?" she whispered, her voice barely audible. "After everything she did to me?"
Remo sighed, his own feelings a complex mix of anger and sympathy. "Love is complicated. Sometimes it doesn’t make sense. But what matters now is you. Your feelings. Your healing."
Abby nodded, her sobs gradually subsiding. She felt exhausted, both physically and emotionally, but there was a small, flickering flame of resolve within her. She had made her decision, and she would stand by it.
"I don’t want to see her," Abby said, her voice steadier now. "I don’t want to hear her apology. I just... I just want to move on."
"You don’t have to see her," Remo assured her. "I’ll handle everything. You’ve done more than enough."
Abby looked up at him, her eyes red and swollen from crying. "Thank you, Remo. For everything."
Remo smiled, a gentle, loving smile that warmed her heart. "Always, Abby. I’m here for you, no matter what."
Back in the room they had left, Cage remained on his knees, staring at the spot where Abby had stood. He had asked for forgiveness, but he knew it would never be truly given. He had hurt Abby deeply, and he would carry that guilt with him forever. But knowing she would help Lily, even begrudgingly, gave him a small measure of relief.
He had made his choice, and now he had to live with it. And hope, somehow, that he hadn’t lost Abby forever.
The room felt emptier, colder. He had expected anger, but the raw pain in Abby’s eyes had shattered him. He had hoped for a miracle, for understanding, but he knew the price of his request.
He eventually forced himself to stand, his legs shaky. He had to find Lily. He had to tell her what happened, that Abby had agreed to help. But how could he face her, knowing the pain he had just caused Abby?
Lily was in the small apartment they had rented to lay low. She paced the room, anxiety written all over her face. When Cage finally walked in, she rushed to him.
"What happened?" she asked, her voice trembling. "Did she agree to help?"
Cage nodded, his expression somber. "Yes, she agreed."
Lily let out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. "Thank God. I was so scared, Cage. I thought she would refuse."
Cage looked at her, his emotions conflicted. He should feel relief, but all he could think about was the hurt in Abby’s eyes. "Lily, Abby’s decision to help doesn’t mean she forgives you. She’s doing this for me, and it’s tearing her apart."
Lily’s face fell, guilt washing over her. "I never wanted to hurt her. I was a different person back then, but that doesn’t excuse what I did."
Cage sighed, pulling her into a hug. "We’ll get through this," he said, though the words felt hollow
