The Vampire King's Possession-Chapter 54 - . That Jawline
Chapter 54: 54. That Jawline
Mauve opened her eyes to the moonlight glaring in her face as Vae threw the curtains open. "How was your sleep, princess?" Vae asked.
Mauve immediately sat upright and frantically looked around. She was alone in bed and for a second it felt as though she had once again dreamt about the incident.
"Is everything alright, princess?" Vae asked, looking at her with concern.
Mauve forced a smile, "Yes, of course," she said and jumped out of bed.
"Careful, princess," Vae exclaimed and rushed towards her. "You were bedridden less than a day ago."
Mauve glared at her, "I wasn't bedridden, don't make it sound like I wouldn't have been able to move if I wanted to."
"Well, that's how it seemed."
Mauve rolled her at Vae and made her way to the dresser. "I would like to have my bath now. Your opinion about my state of health, the night before isn't needed, thank you very much. Also, these pigtails won't loosen themselves."
"Yes, princess," Vae replied and pulled twice on the strings before rushing to the princess's side.

She moved quickly, untying the strings on the end, and began to loosen the braids. She finished and gently brushed Mauve's hair before tying it up in preparation for her bath.
They heard a knock and Vae moved to the door and opened it. Mill's brother walked in with the tub as usual. "Mill would like to know if you will have the first meal in the dining hall?" He asked.
"Yes," Mauve said, a little too quickly. She couldn't spend one more minute cooped in this room.
He didn't say a word, he just walked out of the bedroom but not without looking in Vae's direction. Vae closed the door and walked towards the princess. She helped Mauve to her feet and slowly began to take her clothes off.
"Isn't he calmer now?" Mauve said.
"You think?" Vae asked nonchalantly.
"What do you mean by that? It is pretty obvious. I would have sworn he hated us but now, he is tolerant."
Vae shrugged.
Mauve frowned, "Are you sure nothing is going on between you two?"
Vae paused what she was doing and looked up. "I told you, princess, the vampires don't like me very much. Now, stop worrying about unnecessary things and get into the bath."
"I hear you."
Mauve looked at herself in the mirror one more time, she could proudly say she was pretty.
"You look absolutely stunning, princess."
Mauve blushed furiously, "You saying that." She said even though she couldn't stop staring at her reflection.
"Of course not," Vae said with a smile.
Mauve stood to her feet, a servant had come to tell her that the first meal was served. She stared at her reflection one more time before she headed for the door.
"Would you like me to accompany you?" Vae offered.
Mauve turned around so fast her hair made a whipping sound. "You mean it?"
Vae stuck out her lower lip, "Why do you look so surprised, princess?"
"Nothing," Mauve said and turned her face away. "And yes, you may accompany me."
"Okay," Vae walked past her and opened the door. She held it open so Mauve could go through it.
"Thank you," Mauve mumbled as she walked out.
She got out of the room and carefully walked down the stairs with Vae watching her like a Mama hen. Mauve smiled beside herself, she couldn't help but enjoy the way Vae was fussing over her.
She got to the front of the dining hall and the guards threw the door open. Vae stopped in front of the entrance and waved her in. Mauve smiled at her before heading into the hall.
As usual, the guards were already seated and Jael was nowhere to be found. Mauve rolled her eyes, only women were allowed to be fashionable late.
The three guards glanced at her but none of them stared. She nodded and quickly took her seat. "Good day," she said after she took her seat.
"I heard the princess was ill," Danag said.
"Please, call me Mauve. It was just a slight headache, nothing concerning. Thank you." Mauve said with a smile.
She knew she was completely warmed up to Danag. He reminded her of an older brother. His stubble made him look older than he was, not that it mattered as Vampires generally looked very younger than they were. A little stubble wouldn't age him right.
"You are welcome."
She looked at Damon with his sleek hair and he gave her a nod, only Erick completely ignored her presence. Mauve began to count the seconds in her head as she waited for Jael to show up. For some reason, the silence was easy to ignore when he was around.
Mauve's face immediately brightened up when she heard the door open. Jael strutted in with a gait in his step. They instantly made eye contact and she immediately brought her eyes down as she remembered they had slept on the same bed during the day.
The guards stood to their feet but Mauve didn't move, no way was she going to allow another embarrassment. She could feel Erick glaring at her but she refused to meet his gaze.
Jael sat on his usual seat and she sneaked a peek at him. His hair was still wet and a flash of him washing up crossed her mind. Mauve adjusted on her seat as she tried to get rid of the nasty thoughts in her head, the thoughts were definitely not appropriate for the dining hall.
As soon as he took a seat, the guards sat back down and the servants approached the table to open the meals and dish them out.
She looked at Jael again to see that he was studying her with an amused expression. She didn't think it was fair that he was this good-looking, with blue eyes and a jawline that stretched forever. She bent her head quickly as she realized she was staring.
The meal ended quickly, the vampires seemed to be in a hurry to get somewhere. She frowned, they weren't saying anything or discussing it at the table so she was certain, this wasn't something she could ask about.
She ate steadily as they rushed their meal. Damon finished first, then Jael, Danag, and Eric finished simultaneously. They sat for a few minutes and then Jael stood up. Less than a second later, the three musketeers stood up, and following directly behind him, Jael led them outside.
Mauve swallowed and ate the rest of her meal in silence. This was certainly better than eating with just the guards but she hated eating alone in such a huge space. From where she sat she could not see the end of the hall.
She frowned and continued the rest of her meal, wondering why there wasn't a smaller dining room to use. She ate quickly and stood to her feet. She didn't go to her room, she went straight to the library.
Mauve ended up eating by herself during the second meal, neither the guards nor Jael was seen. She asked Mill, she told Mauve she only knew they had left the castle but did not know why.
Mauve returned to the library after eating, at this point she was bored out of her mind but there was nothing else she could do except read.
It was finally time for the last meal, Mauve almost had the last meal in her room but she didn't want to be in the confines of her room, at least for today. She had spent more than enough of her time there.
She got to the dining room a little later, if she was going to eat alone, there was no point to rush. She got closer to the dining hall and she heard noises.
The guards opened the door for her and she walked in to see Jael having a full-blown conversation with the guards, they were drinking and in her opinion, looked a little happier.
"Mauve," Jael called her merrily. "I thought you decided to eat dinner in your room."
"No," she said and took her seat. "I just spent a little longer in the library. Did something happen?" She asked.
"Nothing, you need to worry your head about."
The servants immediately put her food in front of her, "Thank you," she mumbled.
Mauve frowned and dug into her food, it was obvious the conversation had dried up as she showed up. She was really curious as to what it was about.
The conversation was mainly filled with small talk and Erick's insistence on throwing a party. Jael didn't say much and as soon as she finished her meal, she immediately excused herself.
"Princess, your bath water is ready," Vae said to her, rousing her from her thoughts.
"Save it for now."
Vae frowned, "Why?"
"I want to go outside." Mauve announced staring out the window, the sun was slowly rising. It wasn't completely sunrise yet but in a few more minutes, it would be.
Vae's eyes nearly popped out of her sockets. "What for?" She looked horrified and by the look on her face, she was imagining the worst.
