Timeless Hunter: Blood Of Old-Chapter 61: Forest
Fortunately that attacked slowed down the tiger, unlike the other undead it had a semblance of intelligence.
Or at the very least instinct, it hesitated for a second and that was all that Akaris needed, he ordered his echo to run faster.
Of course the echo couldn’t run faster, it was already moving at full speed and the zombie tiger pounced.
Oriana knowing she couldn’t help with shit against it didn’t even bother looking and left it to Akaris.
The steep cliff was no more than a kilometre away from them now but he realised at their speed, the zombie tiger would reach them first.
Akaris cancelled bolster and raised his claymore above his head but he did not attack.
The echo drew closer and closer to the cliff and when it was 500 metres away the zombie tiger was nearly upon them.
With less than 20 metres separating them he knew it was the right time to attack, a distance like that can be covered in a split second.
But it also made it hard for a creature as large as the undead tiger to dodge a fast moving attack.
" AHHHHH." With a loud roar he swung down his sword, a thin blade of light flew out and lit up the sky.
The tiger tried to dodge but the blade was moving too fast, it cut a thin barely visible wound on its shoulder.
Before the tiger could rejoice at how weak the attack was, the sound ignited into flames, flames made from holy light spread.
They burnt the tiger all the way to its face but Akaris and Oriana had jumped off the echo’s back by then.
The echo grabbed them by its tentacles and threw them, they flew nearly two hundred metres in the air.
The undead below jumped up trying to catch them to no avail, Oriana took her tiger beast soul.
He prepared his mana wave, Oriana twisted mid air and landed gracefully on all fours like a cat.
Her breasts jiggled like in his illusion dream making him gulp, he used mana wave to soften the fall.
As a result he ended up destroying multiple ended, they didn’t stop and immediately took off running.
While the tiger beast soul was not ideal for dealing with undead of these numbers since it lacked proper defence.
What they needed right now was speed and speed it got, it blurred across the dark sky moving much faster than he can.
His sword lit up with bolster like a beacon, each swing caused the undead to ignite into flames.
He left a trail of flames on his path, they reached the cliff and Oriana took her uni-octo beast soul.
Her bone whips stabbed into the cliff and carried her up, she grabbed him and rapidly climbed the cliff moving like a certain comic book villain.
The undead were relentless, they jumped up and missed and fell then others would follow forming a pile below.
The pile grew towards them and the undead climbed on top of each other to reach them but those who got close were cut down.
His sword burnt them into flames and the flames spread below burning the other undead.
Zombies and skeletons alike fell to his blade and those who did not were cut down by her free bone whips.
They climbed nearly 300 metres above the ground before the pile of undead started slowing down.
Akaris looked back and saw his echo entangled with the undead tiger, it was losing badly but it had done its job.
Its many tentacles bound the undead tiger slowing it down, even though the echo had lost two legs and nearly 60 percent of its tentacles it still help on.
Akaris still didn’t feel safe and told Oriana to not stop but she didn’t need to be told and continued climbing.
The cliff was nearly 2 kilometres tall for as far as he could see, this beast soul couldn’t see as well so Oriana still didn’t know how far they needed to climb.
After climbing nearly half way up the cliff, his senses tingled and he immediately used future sight.
He saw a shadow grabbing Oriana from above with giant talons, instantly he pulled his bow and pointed up.
As expected, a creature suddenly showed up like a ghost and silently dived towards them, its wings did not even pick up the wind.
What else could be such a great stalker of the night but an owl but unlike the owls of his former world this one was large.
It had a wingspan of about 4 metres and claws like daggers, he released his arrow and the owl was caught off guard and failed to react.
The arrow pierced through its head killing it immediately, Akaris felt happy, not because he killed the owl.
Because he saw it, the first living creature that didn’t live in blood the sea besides the tree and turtle and even those technically were in the blood sea.
It was a good sign, Akaris wanted to eat normal meat not blood rakha shit he had been eating.
Unfortunately the owl immediately plummeted to the ground below, they continued climbing.
Akaris was no longer using bolster, perhaps the light is what drew the owl in the first place.
It took some time but they eventually reached the peak of the cliff and climbed up and just in time for the moon rise.
The blood moon rose from the horizon bringing red light like blood to the world, from this spot, it looked eerily beautiful.
A strange contrast of beauty and terror, especially when the blood sea followed. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
" This would be good material for a painter." He whispered but Oriana was not in the moon to admire said beauty.
She was exhausted, he looked down and watched as the waves of the blood sea crashed on the cliff side.
His echo had died against the undead tiger and returned to his soul with extensive damage.
Healing would take a bit longer this time so they couldn’t ride it for now, he looked at this place they found themselves in.
It was a forest, " Shit."
