Timeless Hunter: Blood Of Old-Chapter 62: Tempest Hawk King
The forest had tall dark trees devoid of any leafs, their branches twisted like fingers of a hag.
Just looking at it gave him shivers, Oriana tried to act brave but he could see her body shaking.
There was something wrong about thos forest and they both knew it, unfortunately they had no choice but to go through it.
There was no other way around and after resting they moved, the temperature dropped as soon as they entered the forest.
A low hanging dark fog surrounded the forest making it hard to see even with his hawk eyes.
He could still see further than Oriana but even his sight ended only around 20 metres away.
According to her, she couldn’t see more then 2 metres away. They went further in and the terrifying feeling only grew stronger.
Akaris suddenly pointed his bow to his left and released an arrow, they heard a loud screech followed by something crashing on the trees.
The creature broke through the fog and revealed itself, it was a centipede more than a metre thick.
Even Akaris couldn’t tell how long it was meaning it was more than 20 metres long, the centipede screeched loudly.
It pounced with its mandibles and fangs dripping with venom, Oriana reacted before he did.
She swung her giant blade and met it face but sparks flew, the blade bounced back and the centipede barely retreated a step.
Oriana jumped back and frowned, in her base form she wasn’t strong enough to break its carapace.
It ignored her and attacked Akaris, the centipede was fast, it giant body blurred like a lunging snake.
His body reacted instinctively, a combination of his supreme reflex and high perception, it’s also why he was able to sense it through the mist.
He jumped to the side but barely dodged it, one of its antennae lashed out like a whip and hit him on the chest.
His mana skin blocked the attack but he was stillsebt flying nearly a dozen metres away and it followed up with its next attack.
He immediately used future sight, seeing a projection of it moving before its real body made things easier.
The centipede was definitely stronger and faster than he was but with future sight active, it couldn’t land a single hit on him.
He drew his bow but didn’t release the arrow, he wasn’t using the exploding arrow either, he was just waiting for the right time.
And the right time came, through future sight he saw the trajectory of its movements and immediately adjusted his aim.
He released his arrow a split second earlier and the centipede unsurprisingly moved the way he had predicted.
Before it could react the arrow pierced through its eye, it shrieked in agony, its loud shriek pierced through the mist.
It raised its head to the sky like snake ready to attack again but he didn’t move because he had already seen what will happen next.
A tiny figure with piercing feline green eyes jumped through the mist, it descended from the sky with a giant blade.
Blue mana coated the blade and it pierced through the back of the centipede and nailed it to the ground.
The centipede twisted its long body to attack her but Oriana’s instincts in her tiger beast soul were so high they bordered premonition.
It’s why she’s able to react and dodge attacks predicted by his future sight, of course her instincts weren’t future sight.
She couldn’t see exactly what will happen, she just knows she’s in danger and where the danger is coming from and react accordingly.
So the centipede failed to touch her, not to mention it was not faster than she was, In fact it was definitely slower.
Akaris used inspect on it

’ Wow.’ Akaris couldn’t help but marvel, this creature was really impressive, he hadn’t met many creatures with high perception than his.
Suddenly his instincts kicked in and he used future sight before jumping back and hiding in the mist.
Oriana reacted a bit slower but luckily she was in her tiger beast soul and sensed the threat early.
She too retreated and hid behind a tree in the mist, they both heard the flapping of wings followed by a gust of wind that blew the fog away.
A clear pack was formed in the forest forcing both of them to retreat even further to not be in the open.
A giant hawk appeared and looked around with cold eyes, its talons grabbed the struggling centipede but it was no different from a worm to this bird.
It had a wingspan of about 50 metres and nearly 20 metres tall, its presence alone made his blood shiver.
Akaris wondered what was wrong with this trial to send them to a place with monsters this powerful.
He used inspect on the hawk out of habit but that was a mistake. ( Inspect has reached level 4)

The hawn was about to fly off then stopped and turned its eyes towards him, after seeing its perception and spirit he understood why.
Just as he can tell when he was being watched because of his perception, so can it and its high spirit is what hit the nail.
Him using his mana to check on it with inspect made him shine like a beacon to its senses.
The hawk immediately shrieked, a piercing shriek echoed through the first and assaulted his ears.
His felt his mind buzzing for a split moment, ( player has been inflicted with stun, Will of Steel activated.)
His mind cleared which seemed to surprise the hawk but only for a split moment, it didn’t matter to it.
He was an ant nonetheless, Akaris used future sight, the hawk flapped its wings and and blade of mana shot out.
It cut through his mana skin and split his body in half, when Akaris saw that vision he shivered.
In a split second he jumped to the side dodging the blade wind, the tree he was hiding behind was cut in half.
The blade continued for nearly 50 metres cutting everything in its path.
