Chapter 59: A Favour

"So, let me do you this one favour," he glared back at Lucas, "But now, you owe me the next time."

"Fred..." Zylus whispered, his gaze shifted to the man who had just saved him.

Fred came with that same presence; it was as if he didn’t have any limitations on the amount of strength he had gathered. For some reason, this entire time, he had been gaining more and more power, while Zylus was getting left behind.

Lucas tried moving, but Fred choked his neck with one arm, kindly easing the pressure a little just enough for Lucas to breathe. Zylus was still down, yet he didn’t feel the pain from Lucas’s attack anymore.

"How?!" Lucas spat all over Fred’s face, his body twitching around, attempting to crawl out of the arm choke, "I tortured you! How did you manage to come back?!"

"Tortured?" Fred attempted to remember, "I don’t remember when that happened. I just heard my sister was being harassed and came here as soon as possible." He said, preparing his hands.

It would seem as though, when Fred gets into this form, he forgets all memories before being in this state. Thus, he basically becomes a new entity entirely, unaware of what and how he had become one in the first place.

"Fuck," Lucas bit on Fred’s hand, but no reaction came from that. Fred glared back, like a villain. "You’re lucky I already used my second order!"

Sure, Lucas’s second order might seem extremely powerful. Although once he uses it, he becomes unable to use any other ability for the rest of the day. Essentially, it’s a high-risk, high-reward type of move.

"I’m lucky?" Fred grinned, "I hate gambling, not my style."

Slam!

Fred’s palm struck Lucas’s face with a sharp cracking noise, snapping his head to the side as silence swallowed the room.

"Unconscious already?" Fred threw Lucas back on the floor, "Now, Zylus." Fred glared downwards at Zylus. Zylus looked back up, their gazes met, "Taking a human life is unacceptable."

Fred took a deep breath, kicking Lucas’s unconscious body to the side, his glare darkened.

"I must bring thou judgment to your forsaken life." Fred paused, walking a couple of steps backwards, "Even so." He suddenly stopped, "I’ll allow you to get up first, I’m not that type of person."

Zylus slowly pushed himself up. Luckily for him, he didn’t sustain any injuries, only felt the pressure of the sudden decrease in gravity.

Zylus started walking back by himself, picking up his demonic weapon from the floor.

"Will I," Zylus paused, stopping to look back at Fred, their gazes met, "Be able to kill this guy?"

And just then, Fred, using two fingers, had told Zylus to ’come here.’

"Son of a bitch."

Just then, Zylus rushed into the angered Fred.

"I’m sorry," Zylus whispered, ducking down from a punch Fred was about to land, "But you’re not a target."

Zylus disappeared.

Fred looked around, "No, it couldn’t be."

He now stood over Lucas, aiming the sharp edge of the katana at his neck, "Goodbye."

Ching!

"You really thought I would let you? You thought you would outsmart me?" Fred stopped Zylus’s blade from cutting into Lucas’s skin, "I know you have your reasons, but you’ll have to die today."

Bam!

He hit Zylus with one body punch, Zylus spat out blood, his body curved upwards...

Slick!

He slapped him this time, launching Zylus back into the open terrain.

"Hmph!" Zylus chewed on his own blood, gasping for air, "This mother fucker has gotten even stronger somehow."

Fred slowly walked out of the bushes, ducking under a tree branch that had been pointed sharply at him, blocking his vision. He then stepped onto the wide brown floor once more, swiping his hands, removing every dust particle.

Zylus placed his katana downwards, in an attempt to help him get up.

"Hmph." He spat more blood, this time, on himself, "I-I," he stuttered, "I can hardly breathe."

"Get back up," Fred commandingly declared, "I will not be losing my dignity in a fight against a demon."

Zylus slowly pushed himself up. He put a hand on where the pain ached the most, "He’s toying with me."

"Fuck," Zylus spat, blood on the floor, using his katana as a cane, "Fred!" Zylus called Fred out, as his look sharpened, "He was about to harass your s-sister!" Blood poured from his mouth, forcing him to stutter, "So why protect him?!"

Fred started walking up to Eldra, carefully placing her to the side.

"It’s because nobody deserves to take away a life," he paused, rage ran through his skin as he gazed at Lucas’s unconscious body, "I’ll bring judgment upon him as soon as I’m finished with killing you."

Zylus breathed carefully. Clare came back, staggering into the mic.

"Hey Zylus!" She yelled, "Are you getting your ass beat right now?! Get out, you can’t take him on!"

Zylus smirked, "Don’t worry, Clare," he finally stood tall, "I have an idea."

"You sound half dead!" She couldn’t allow this. "Are you an idiot?! Come back!"

"Shut up," Zylus whispered into the mic, "Didn’t I tell you already?" Zylus asked, "I have an idea."

Fred simply watched, clearly waiting for Zylus to make the first move, out of his dignity.

Fred got into an unorthodox fighting stance. It felt as though Fred’s power would never run out, but there had to be a way; Zylus just didn’t know.

"I thought you creatures were stronger," Fred spat on the ground, "Turned out you’re just as weak as a regular human." He spat on the floor, focusing his gaze on Zylus again.

Zylus just stood there, smiling.

"I can’t use my technique yet," Zylus whispered, "Not until I bait him."

And here started Zylus’s first impossible challenge. A fight where he’s unable to bypass using brutal strength, but one that he must somehow evolve through.
