Chapter 112: Chapter 112:Boss Battle [3]
Descending below the ground upon nearing the island, Evangel’s group was filled with nothing but pure happiness.
At first, they had doubts about Evangel’s capabilities, some of them wishing they had been placed with the prince or princess instead.
That doubt had continued up until the primal scream that sounded from the other side of the sea.
Before that, Evangel simply ignored them and silently walked around the beach, stopping intermittently to examine random things like branches and rocks.
They were clueless about what to do, thinking that their fates as last place in the exam were sealed.
Yet, Evangel’s immediate initiative to take to the skies after the scream had motivated them and made them thankful.
Most of the other leaders had left their groups behind, yet here they were, being carried around like passengers in a limousine.
Prince, princess, who cared?
They were on top of the world, literally.
However, at that moment, as the large beast came into view, one of Evangel’s teammates suddenly confusedly pointed down at the sea.
"...is that a person...?"
Sure enough, as they gazed downward at the sea, a figure floating on a rock surfboard appeared, surprising all of them.
Immediatly, their expressions darkened, and they all looked ashamedly down
Looking forward at their leader flying a few feet ahead, all of them expected some sort of negative reaction.
Yet, Evangel remained composed and continued falling toward the ground, acting as if she had known the girl was there the entire time.
Other leaders would have blamed their Worldly teammates for holding them back, allowing another group to reach the boss first.
But, not there’s!
Reaching his fist into the air and withdrawing a spear, one of Evangel’s teammates excitedly announced, in the void of silence.
"It’s just one group; they can’t have done much damage! Our victory is certain!"
However, a moment later, when they descended even closer to the shore of the new island’s beach, their mouths inadvertently opened.
Three of nine tentacles had already been destroyed...that was already more than a third of the possible individual contribution gone.
And, when they looked back for some sort of plan from their leader, Evangel was nowhere to be seen.
Only when their feet touched the ground and the gusts of wind disappeared, binding them to the floor, did they spot their leader again.
She was...right above the crabawler’s head, preparing to land on it!
As the four Worldly students stood shocked on the sand, a friendly and calm voice suddenly sounded from behind them.
"You all should hurry up; the prince will be making his appearance soon."
After giving Sage, who was simply sunbathing on the surfboard, drying her drenched hair, a short glance, the four students charged forward.
A moment later, that exact same voice sounded behind them, though...in a much darker and louder tone.
"Hey, Jett, your bait has arrived!"
Not even bothering to look back, the four students glanced forward; however, they couldn’t see anyone.
Who had done all this damage to the crabawler then?
Where was the group that had reached here before them!?
Suddenly, before they could react, two tentacles surged upward from the crabawler’s stomach, aiming their openings at the group.
Two poisoned purple cannonballs emerged and charged towards the students, and like cartoon characters, they all split up and ran in different directions.
Back on the crabawler’s stomach, a small figure could be seen wiping...what seemed to be the air above his head?
Sitting atop the hilt of a sword, which was embedded in the crabawler’s rough skin, the figure angrily muttered while holding the tip of a tentacle in his right palm.
"For fucks sake, why is always my horns that get dirty!?"
Ignoring, or perhaps not realizing Evangel above him, Jett simply sat with his butt on the hit and his legs dangling in the air, calmly waiting.
However, at that same time, an unknown change was taking place within the crabawler’s body.
At the rupture in a blood vein, the tip of Jett’s blood red blade could be seen, poking into the crabawler’s bloodstream.
Hundreds of red particles, resembling red blood cells, surged forward from the sword’s tip, invading the monster’s bloodstream.
Heading upward toward the crabawler’s lower stomach, the crimson-red particles slowly started to diminish.
Countless pitch-black particles, resembling antibodies, appeared in the vein, blocking the red particle’s path forward.
Then, like two armies fighting, the antibodies and red blood cells rushed toward each other, but not even a second later, a winner was determined.
The pitch-black cells slaughtered blood-red particles...however, there was simply too big a number advantage.
More and more blood-red particles leaked from Jett’s sword, and occasionally, a particle would manage to pass by the barrier set by the antibodies.
With nothing to hold them back, these particles surged forward toward the heart.
Back on the outside, a figure remained frozen in front of crabawler, their snow-white flying backward.
Raising her pure-white broadsword, the exact one she had killed the troll with, Evangel dived downward.
Instantly, three tentacles surrounded her from all directions and moved forward, like a snake attempting to squeeze their prey to death.
Standing in the exact middle of the tentacles, with two gusts of wind below her shoes, Evangel...rushed forward.
Suddenly, one of the three tentacles in the formation broke away and pierced toward her chest.
Titling her entire body to the right while continuing to fly forward at an incredible speed, Evangel narrowly avoided the tentacle, its skin coming a mere inch from her face.
Consequently, the second and third of the three tranches broke formation and charged forward at Evangel.
Above Evangel was the first tentacle, in front of her was the second, and behind her was the third.
A solemn expression appeared on her Evange’s face as she saw the incoming tentacles; however, at that moment, the crabawler suddenly shook.
Its coordination was immediately thrown off, and a small gap appeared between the tentacle above and in front of her.
Not skipping a beat, Evangel immediatly flew upward, straightening out her body as much as possible, and rushed through the gap, escaping from the three tentacles.
Suddenly, the second tentacle under the first one rushed upward and then left, chasing after Evangel.
Simultaneously, the third tentacle had been pursuing Evangel from the very start and followed her through the gap between the first and second tentacles.
The crawbawler had lost all sense of coordination.
Three of its five remaining tentacles were tangled.
Raising her pure white sword to the sky, Evangel was about to slash at the three defenseless and unmoving tentacles; however, a sudden light beam appeared.
*FLASH*
Starting at the beach shore, the beam light surged in a diagonal line upward with incredible accuracy, separating Evangel’s sword from the three tentacles.
The prince had arrived on the scene.
At the base of the beam, the prince’s open palm stood, emitting a bright light that forced even Xero to look away.
The beam seemed to have an infinite amount of energy, as even after a few seconds, it did not diminish or disappear in the slightest.
Unlike the time element particles, which were quite literally almost impossible to find, Liam could find light element particles anywhere.
Thus, as long as the sun was shining and emitting rays, he would never run out of particles.
At the same time, the princess and her four comrades appeared behind the resting Sage, sprinting through the shallow water and toward the beach shore.
Everyone could realize it, even the Worldly students.
There were three tentacles up for grabs.
They were completely frozen and tangled; anyone could destroy them.
His light beam was still firing and separating Evangel from the tentacles, Liam slowly moved his hand rightward toward the tentacles, the beam following.
The beam was going to destroy all three tentacles...
However, finally, Charlotte emerged on the sand, a small and thin rapier visible in her hand.
Unlike her brother, who had been chosen to receive the light element, Charlotte had gained her mother’s, or the empress’s typing.
Drowsiness.
At its peak, the element would quite literally allow users to put A-ranked beast to sleep with the click of a finger, leaving them completely defenseless.
However, alternatively...it could wake things up.
A tiny particle, the size of a penny, appeared at the tip of Charlotte’s rapier before charging forward, faster than the speed of light.
It reached the crabawler’s body far before Liam’s light beam could shift right enough to touch the tangled tentacles.
Suddenly, the crabawler’s eyes opened wide, like a drug addict, and its entire body was trembling, causing the ground to follow as well.
Liam’s hand immediately shook, and his continuous light beam flew upward, far above the monster.
Yet...even though some of its coordination had been returned, the three tentacles were far too gone.
Liam’s hand immediately shook, and his continuous light beam flew upward, far above the monster.
The prince immediately fixed and readjusted his hand.
Seeing this, Evangel flew toward the beast’s tentacle with her sword piercing forward.
Charlotte, on the other hand, passively influenced and weakened the beast with drowsiness, slowing down its senses and reflexes.
She knew she was far too late to destroy the tentacles herself, so to gain some individual contribution, she attempted to aid the person who destroyed the tentacles.
Even Xero got an attack in, as three icicles, as sharp as knives, surged upward at the bottom of the three tentacles.
All the Worldly students could do was sit and watch, following in Sage’s steps.
This was the difference between enlightened students with gifts and simple, awakened students.
