Chapter 47: Chapter 47:Orientation [1]

It felt as if I were the superhero, "Ironman," from Earth.

Countless holographic lines, equations, figures, and different types of shapes appeared before me.

They weren’t placed randomly, either; each hologram was placed specifically in areas that would not affect my sight of the battle.

As I descended toward the three figures, who had all gathered below me like a group of kids trying to catch a ball, I hesitated.

To kill or not to kill.

Of course, this wasn’t a moral question.

They had attacked me, intending to kill.

And, if you kill, you should expect to be killed.

The problem stemmed from the fact that these clearly weren’t your normal criminals.

They most likely belonged to a larger organization of villains, maybe even djinns.

Thus, if I killed them, not only would heroes investigate me, but the evil organization they belonged to would as well.

I would have to go through a lot of work trying to hide their bodies and my tracks.

Yet...if I left them alive, they could report back to their boss.

Killing them was the safer choice, right now.

At that moment, as I made up my mind, the timer next to one of the figures below suddenly disappeared.

It was the figure who had charged at me first.

1 second.

Instantly, five clones of myself appeared in the air beside me, all gripping their blood-red blades and aiming at a figure.

A beam, made of pure darkness, suddenly appeared above the figure’s head, and like a cannon, shot forward at me, not my clones. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

The ray of corrupted mana charged at me, completely encapsulating my vision, making me see only darkness ahead.

A djinn.

There is one sure-fire way to tell if your opponent is a djinn or not.

Mana can come in a variety of colors, but only the color black belongs to djinns.

That is because, by signing a contract with a devil, they are essentially giving up their body and soul for a power boost.

However, the human body is not built for this type of power boost; thus, their mana became corrupted and turns a night-black.

As I floated there in the air, mere nanoseconds away from being obliterated by the pitch-black beam, I had to question this situation.

Was it really a coincidence that I had run into these people?

They didn’t even seem to be after my money or anything.

They just wanted...my life.

My time freeze ability probably could have saved me here, but unfortunately, I had no idea how to activate it without having mastered it yet.

Stuck in the air with mere moments to live, I only had one choice.

Opening my mouth, I muttered words that I detested.

Back in the cathedral, there had been hundreds of humans.

All of them had died.

Now, in the capital city, there were millions of humans, all easily accessible.

How many of them would die?

It was either my life or the life of millions.

"Devil’s Tra-"

However, before I could even finish my words, I felt a sudden force strike me, propelling me to the right and away from the pitch-black beam.

As I flew backward and rapidly descended, the beam shot upward at my previous location, surging up into the sky.

Not skipping a beat, I followed the holographic line that connected me to the ground, efficiently landing the lid of a full dumpster.

Suddenly, a cold and emotionless voice sounded from the opposite side of the alleyway.

The three djinns were in the way, so I couldn’t see the figure, but their authoritative tone alone reassured me.

"Surrender."

These three djinns had dared to attack me in the middle of the capital city!

No matter if it was the slums or not, there were mana detectors everywhere.

And, the djinn’s use of corrupted mana to create the beam had triggered an alarm.

Though...the heroes had been incredibly fast.

They had to have responded within a second of the beam’s creation to save me and shoot me out of the air...hadn’t they?

Almost immediately, the three djinns turned around so that they were facing the walls and tried to climb upward.

Why were they trying to escape now...?

Without a second of doubt, I rushed forward, instantly severing their legs and sending them crashing to the ground.

At that same time, as the djinns moved out of the way, the figure on the other side of the alleyway came into view.

With pilot’s cap on and short-blonde hair, the figure stood up-straight with what seemed to be...a revolver in her hands?

She wore a full-body suit that was colored a light blue and white with a navy blue vest on top.

The revolver she was holding was extremely old, seeming like it was from the gold rush on Earth, as it was colored brown and made of wood.

Her light-blue pupils met...my eyes, immediately causing me to step back and falter.

However, showing no reaction, the female figure simply raised her revolver.

*BOOM*

*BOOM*

*BOOM*

Within a second, three shots were fired.

Despite the bullets all going in different directions, my left eye didn’t even see her move her revolver once.

However, from my right eye, it was a different story.

Even with my increased perception, my right eye had barely managed to keep up with her movements.

Her revolver had moved so fast that it seemed to phase in and out of existence like a holagram.

She had raised her revolver, shot it, lowered her revolver, shot it, raised her revolver, and shot it one last time....all in one simple second.

The bullets, all accurately aimed to my right and left, instantly penetrated the djinns next to me, instantly killing them and leaving me unharmed.

The djinns, already falling from my severing of their legs, now lifelessly dropped to the ground with a bullet hole in each of their heads.

It was like...she was a trained-killer robot.

Tilting her head, the figure took a step forward and simply stared at me with a confused expression.

Snapping me back to reality, a cold, calm...and almost soothing voice suddenly sounded.

"You should get that eye checked out."
