Chapter 92: Chapter 92:Contractually Obligated [1]

"Can we just sign the contract already!?"

As Daisy’s light-blue finger completed its last line, finishing the rectangle, a white flash suddenly blinded me.

Then, when I opened my eyes, right in front of Daisy was a light-blue rectangle, resembling a piece of notebook paper, with countless sentences on it.

[Party A: ? / Party B: Daisy Van Alen]

[Party A agrees to reveal his current element and gift to Party B]

[In exchange, Party B agrees to officially mentor Party A and will use the above information to increase the specificity of their training, allowing Party A to progress faster with their gift and elemental usage]

[Party B may not disclose the information above to anyone]

--> [If any true intent to reveal is displayed, Party B’s heart will burst before any secrecy can be destroyed]

Right as I finished reading the second-to-last sentence on the contract, Daisy smiled and added, from behind the ocean-blue rectangle.

"Most mentors don’t do this, but I added this part just for you!"

[Party B may not disclose anything that occurs during any and all training sessions with Party A]

--> [This includes any words spoken, actions taken by either party, or training drills]

[However, similarly, Party A may not disclose any of the above that occurs during training sessions with Party B as well.]

Gazing past the blue floating rectangle, I made eye contact with Daisy, who was resting her chin on her elbow while staring at me.

It seemed that she had some secrets of her own.

Nodding my head and prompting her to smile, I reached my hand out and responded.

"This may take a minute."

Commanding my time elemental particles to flood to my extended index finger, I watched as countless grey veins popped up on my pale skin.

Then, eventually, after a solid minute, a blue line finally appeared right below my fingernail.

This process could, of course, be sped up, in the eyes of others, if I used my time elemental particles to freeze time, but I didn’t want to waste them.

Reaching my hand forward, I touched the floating rectangle with my index finger.

And, as my finger made contact, the mana contract began shining a light blue before slowly disintegrating, like a burning piece of paper.

The pieces of mana from the contract fell to the ground and instantly disappeared, leaving no lingering mana particles.

Only two names floated in the air where the mana contract used to be.

[Jett / Daisy Von Alen]

With her face no longer blocked by the rectangle, Daisy leaned forward with her head tilted and eyes wide open.

"No last name?"

Nodding my head, I retracted my hand and looked down at the carpet below.

Almost immediately, her voice echoed once again.

"So, let’s start with your element."

As far as I knew, there had never been a time elemental wielder in the history of humanity.

In fact, there had only been one human in history to possess an element classified as a Force of Nature.

Space.

The ability to instantly teleport not just yourself, but other physical things...and people, anywhere you willed.

The capability to manifest objects made of matter...and if strong enough, the capacity to destroy any and all objects made of matter.

It was rumored that if a space elementalist were to grow strong enough, they could quite literally...snap a finger and destroy the entire planet.

Or, alternatively, create another planet.

If a young Force of Nature elementalist were to be revealed today, they would, without a doubt, be executed before they could grow strong.

The New Age’s first emperor, not of the human realm but of the world, had possessed this space element.

Not much was documented, except for a few reports left behind by ancient civilizations within the human realm, but there was no doubt that his reign had been uncontested.

In a time when natural disasters, strong enough to destroy millions of people in a second, roamed, Emperor Palkia had instilled the people of Earth with fear.

In the book, his rule had only been mentioned when Evangel had visited an ancient civilization and found a lost report.

But his death had never been specified.

Was it Time?

Snapping back to reality, I smiled and felt my throat swell up, as if I were being compelled and forced to answer.

In a small voice that could only be heard by Daisy, I also leaned forward and whispered.

"Time."

As I leaned backward, finishing up my sandwich, Daisy remained frozen, her mind running in circles, trying to comprehend my words.

While they had a fixed five-category system, humans did not have a set list of all the elements in the world.

Unique elements were constantly being introduced by enlightened people, so humans had to classify them as they appeared.

Though I didn’t think "Time" was a hard element to classify.

As Daisy presumably categorized my element, her gaze suddenly flicked upward, and she reached her hand toward me.

She knew I couldn’t be lying.

The contract had stipulated that I had to tell her my "current" element.

Placing my hands behind me and stretching my legs forward, I casually questioned.

"And you? What’s your element?"

In a shaky tone, Daisy replied, her expression still distraught.

"Velocity."

Yep, no doubt, it was her.

Daisy Van Alen, the leader of the demon king’s assassination squad.

Although I had internally denied it first, her full name that had been displayed on the contract was concrete evidence.

Before his fight with the hero, the demon king had been heavily wounded by a massive onslaught of bullets that had been impossible to dodge.

Despite all of them being shot from the same weapon, they moved at varying speeds, slowing down and accelerating at just the right moments.

Her squad had also been the main cause of death for many demon generals.

Just like my primary elemental ability was "Time Freeze," hers was "Bullet Time."

Perfect counters for each other.
