Chapter 93: Chapter 93:Contractually Obligated [2]
Finally regaining her composure, Daisy looked up at me with an intrigued expression and continued.
"A famed Force of Nature user as my first mentee...life might not be fair."
Waving her hands up and down immediately after, Daisy added.
"In a good way, a good way. I mean, I’m lucky!"
As I simply stared at her in silence, she stood up and pointed to the edge of the arena.
"Well, it’s time to train...but first, you do know the sacred rule that a student can’t kill their master, right?"
Stretching my legs and slowly standing up while rubbing my stomach, I sarcastically answered.
"Only if the reverse is true as well."
Pausing with a confused expression, Daisy hesitated for a moment before smiling and taking out her revolver.
"Sounds like a deal to me."
Chuckling at the irony of the situation, I smiled and took the blood-red and pitch-black out of my pocket.
Under the curious gaze of Daisy, I clicked the pen’s top, immediately sending a blood-red blade surging out of the pen’s tip.
Within seconds, the sword was resting in my hand, glistening under the sun’s bright rays.
Her dark-purple eyes locked onto my blade, Daisy tilted her head, and asked in a sarcastic tone.
"Who are you? The element I can understand as pure and utter luck, but a magical artifact as well, D-rank at that?"
D-rank?
It was already that high of a rank without any abilities unlocked?
Placing my sword horizontally in front of my face, so that the hilt was mere inches away from my mouth, I answered.
"What the hell is this, an interview? I didn’t reveal my element just to be asked more questions."
Holding her revolver out in front of her and aiming its barrel right at my skull, Daisy smirked and responded.
"Oh, would you like to be dropped out of the sky, again? Maybe, your disposable clones will save you for a second time!"
*BANG*
Suddenly, a deafening sound, similar to that of a hammer hitting a nail, echoed throughout the empty coliseum.
A rusty grey bullet sped toward my head, prompting me to easily side-step to the right and avoid it.
The bullet whizzed by me before...simply bouncing off the brick wall behind me.
Then, it immediately rushed forward in a straight line at the opposite wall and bounced off that wall as well.
It was a never-ending cycle of ricocheting.
The bullet never stopped.
Cupping my hands around my mouth, I yelled back.
"HEY, I CARE ABOUT THOSE CLONES; THEY ARE NOT DISPOSABL-"
*BANG*
*BANG*
*BANG*
Before I could finish my sentence, three bullets, one at my head and the others heading to my right and left, fired from Daisy’s revolver.
I classified the bullet at my current position as 1, the one to my left as 2, and the one to my right as 3.
Currently, bullet 1 was the closest to me as it had been fired first, while bullets 2 and 3 followed behind.
"Today’ll be an easy day. Just get to the middle of the arena where I’m staring, and our session will be done."
Keeping an eye on the first bouncing bullet that was randomly roaming the coliseum, I side-stepped left, avoiding bullet 1.
However, at that moment, the bullet 2 suddenly sped up, now positioned to hit me before bullet 1.
And, if I side-stepped to the left anymore, the bouncing bullet would be aiming right at me.
I had already been trapped.
Glancing at Professor Daisy, behind all the bullets, I saw her smirk and point at her right eye.
It seemed she was intending to find every trick, ability, and secret I possessed on this day alone.
My Tempo stat didn’t have nearly enough information to predict the trajectory of the bullets heading at me, especially since they could change speed at any moment.
At that moment, as I thought of the words "Devil’s Eye," I instantly felt my right eye begin to burn as countless blood veins appeared on the white spots around my blood-red pupil.
After taking off my bandage, I quickly realized that my right eye had healed and returned to normal, as the black color surrounding my pupil had returned to a regular white.
But..after this, I might have to wear the bandage for some time.
Like a saving grace, a tempo line, stretching from bullet 2 to my head, suddenly appeared, prompting me to draw my sword.
The line was blurry and distorted, but the bullet was small, so there were only so many possible destinations it could have on my head.
Lifting my blade horizontally in front of my eyes so that all of the blurry holographic lines intersected it, I stood still and waited.
*CRASH*
Like a fly being swatted by a human, the bullet completely shattered upon impact with my blood-red blade.
Yet, to my right, bullets 1 and 3 hit the wall and bounced off before speeding toward the opposite wall.
It seemed like if I didn’t destroy these bullets myself, they would ricoshet from wall to wall endlessly.
*BANG*
*BANG*
*BANG*
...
...
...
Standing in the exact same place I started, with now over ten bullets randomly bouncing from wall to wall, I sighed and stared at Daisy.
She had dropped the revolver and was now sitting in the middle of the arena while staring at me.
No more bullets...
Over ten holographic lines, starting at a bullet and ending at a wall, appeared, sending shockwaves through my brain.
Instead of constantly keeping Devil’s Eye activated, I had used it for a second to see the lines, then deactivated it, relying on memory to recall the lines.
But...I had learned the hard way that the method was useless.
By deactivating and activating it constantly, I was taking in short spurts of high pain instead of constant medium-sized pain with it on all the time.
Thus, activating Devil’s Eye one last time with the right side of my vision partially distorted, I charged toward the bullets.
No longer was I the prey, having to dodge and run away.
Now, I could take out these bullets.
